Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@rebuildingconfidence great result! Am sure you'll get those 2kgs off soon enough.

My aim for November is to try Nd drop 2kgs but I'm one week in and haven't lost anything. I'm changing weigh day to Tuesday so will be a short weigh this week. Fingers crossed I drop smtg in 4 days.

alphaechokiwi · 08/11/2020 08:42

Good morning everyone
@Rebuildingconfidence well done on your loss. 100kg is within touching distance for you now.
@Winningatseesaw fingers crossed for you for Tuesday....and a maintain is good when you have a few off days.
I am at 104.7kg this week. I think.... I woke up quite early and went for a pee and weighed myself and I was 105 9kg. I went back to bed for an hour or so. Got up, had another pee and weighed again and I was 104.7kg... my scales are new, the floor flat and tiled, it's just weird. I'm going with 104.7kg but won't be disappointed with a smaller loss next week. I have 1.2kgs to go to reach my next mini goal of 10kg lost.....
Wishing you all well, especially with lockdown and all the comfort eating temptation....

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 08/11/2020 14:55

Zebracat how's your back? Do you just have to wait out the pain or is any treatment available?

I've stalled atm weight loss wise but am telling myself to be patient and keep going as I am and it'll move again soon... DH bought me a scales and I kind of wish he hadn't as it was better just to weigh once per month, then the scale had always moved! Now a scale sits in the bathroom its impossible not to stand on it too often, which is more likely to be discouraging even though I know full well weight fluctuates according to 101 factors especially cycle, weight loss is never linear etc etc etc.

My current interim goal is a waist size of 85cm, which is a reduced category of heart disease risk and another clothes size down! When I hit that I'm planning to treat myself to some new clothes... Waist is 93cm atm though... Still it was 108 when I started! Blush

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 08/11/2020 14:58

alphaechokiwi at the moment I weigh 98kg in the mornings and 100 exactly at night. I wish I didn't have a bathroom scales!

Zebracat · 09/11/2020 18:27

Hi all. My back has improved beyond all measure. I have taken a break from MFP and this thread because I really couldn’t do anything. But I thought I would weigh tomorrow and then start tracking and calorie counting again.

Winningatseesaw · 10/11/2020 04:51

@zebracat so pleased your back has improved. All the best with your restart... the hardest but is getting on the scales the first week.

I lost a pathetic 0.2kgs which is just under half a pound! However this was half a week as I'm.changing from Friday weigh in to Tuesday. I'll try for a few weeks and if it's not working for me, I'll have a rethink.

Total loss 22.4kgs = 3 stone 7 lbs.

I had a great October but so far November isn't going well. Roll on a good result next Tuesday

Zebracat · 10/11/2020 14:58

Hello. Weighed this morning and I am 101. 5 kgs. Last weight I can find on this thread is 99.6, On 9th October, so very disappointing and let that be a lesson to me. @Winningatseesaw, you are right, it was bad on those scales.
I have been on a very long walk today, but was thinking of baking this pm. Perhaps not.
Ds 25 is returning to us shortly as he is working remotely, living alone and feeling the isolation. He is morbidly obese and wants help to get it sorted, or says he does. Have to see if that translates into action. At the very least , I need to set a good example. I really worry for him.

Zebracat · 10/11/2020 15:02

Out of interest, why are we on this thread, I don’t think any of us need to lose 9 stone?
I think I wanted to avoid the people stressing about being a size 10.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 10/11/2020 15:30

Hello Zebra glad your back's better.
I joined this thrwad because most of the people on the intermittent fasting thread aren't even overweight, just trying to lose ten pounds to fit back into a size smaller or so clothes are a bit loser or similar. That's all great but I wanted to talk about people losing a lot of weight - I joined the thread to talk to people mid weight loss about experience of going through multiple clothes sizes (bras are also an issue...)

I started at 18.5 stone (though I wasn't on this thread then) so I guess a 9 stone loss isn't completely incomprehensible to me, but in all honesty I was a slim size ten at age 19 at 10st 2, living on jacket potatoes with tuna as a student and swimming a mile every morning, and just back from a year of backpacking during which I ate one plate of rice and dahl per day to eek my money out and stay away as long as possible... So I don't expect to see 9.5 stone ever, nor 10.5 probably!

My goal is about 11.5 stone - top of the healthy weight range for my height and a 7 stone loss overall, 4 stone from where I am now...

Zebracat · 10/11/2020 15:53

Hi Hare, I think I weigh heavy, lowest I have ever been is about 10st and as such I was also slim. I saw your bra hunt in style and beauty, also that you found new jeans⬜️. I was pleased for you, it is thrilling to find yourself under the fat, and new clothes help with that. How tall are you? I’m 5ft 7.

alphaechokiwi · 10/11/2020 16:35

@Zebracat

Out of interest, why are we on this thread, I don’t think any of us need to lose 9 stone? I think I wanted to avoid the people stressing about being a size 10.
From my starting point I need to lose 50kg to be in the healthy BMI range.... That's nearly 8 stone. I know it's not quite 9 stone, but I feel it's in the same order of magnitude. And it's a long slow slog, chipping away, kilo by kilo. Something about the posts on this thread chimed with me when I came across it. I think all of us face serious health implications if we don't get it under control. Also, I find the posters who have been where I started and are now 20+ kg down very inspiring and it helps enormously with my motivation....
Winningatseesaw · 12/11/2020 11:15

I was 18 stone at.my heaviest and at 164/5ft 4.5 that's massive. I could definitely lose 9 stone and be a perfect bmi. However i wont lose that much. If I could get to a weight that started with 10 I would be over the moon. So a loss of 7.5 stone

But as the poster below said, I like this space because other threads have a lot of people who are starting where I'm happy to finish!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 12/11/2020 14:46

Oh thanks ☺️ Zebracat

Yes 5 ft 7 - 11 stone 5 is top of the healthy weight range I think. I'm not quibbling over a couple of pounds and will be happy anywhere around there, although I'm also aiming for a waist size of 31 inches or under - the heart disease risk of being an overweight apple is a motivating factor in my decision to lise weight, so if I need to lose more to get a healthy waist size I'll have to keep going.

I ordered some size 16 jeans from George at asda as my next goal trousers, because I was impressed the bras were so cheap, decent and delivered so fast - they came today and I can already do them up! They look sprayed on and they're too tight, making my belly look awful above them... but they do up, which is something as the online reviews for that pair all say true to size or come up slightly small!

One of my many interim goals was the slightly tongue in cheak goal of being average before Christmas (as in average women's clothes size) Grin The scale isn't shifting much atm so it'd be nice if that were achievable... When they fit comfortably I'll be pleased.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 12/11/2020 14:49

Actually the poster who originally started this thread was 5 ft 7 and 19 stone, so probably wouldn't have had to lose 9 stone to get into the healthy weight range, more like 7.5...

Zebracat · 12/11/2020 21:57

I just found my weight record from 2017, when I was sent to a prediabetes healthy living group.I lost 17 kilos and was 90 kilos
By the December. A lot of stuff happened the next year and the year after that, but I do feel sad to be back over 100 kilos. At 90, I was a size 14/16. By the time I get to a healthy weight, I’ll have probably lost 9 stone twice over, and I know the health risks, the discomfort and embarrassment of being fat.I’m not going to get into self loathing because it doesn’t help but I really do need to prioritise my health.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 13/11/2020 14:48

Zebracat no point beating yourself up as you say - its always vastly easier to lose weight if you actually like yourself and feel positive, as you obviously know!

The ups and downs are part of life's rich tapestry and all that clichéd but somewhat true stuff. Also there's a silver lining in that you get to set your son a good example without saying a word or any judgement. If you were already thin any attempt to help him get into healthy habbits would certainly look judgemental and holier than thou, but if he can see you fighting the same battle and winning, whilst being happy and healthy, he'll hopefully feel inspired - if mum can do it so can he... Much more palatable to follow someone's example if they're not perfect and open about it than if they're a paragon or set themselves up unintentionally as superior or unrelatable!

Zebracat · 13/11/2020 16:37

Thank you , Hare, you are right and also very comforting. I can do it with the boy!

Winningatseesaw · 14/11/2020 03:35

My jeans were looking ridiculous this morning so I changed into a size 16 pair- and could do them up. Was so happy!

Is everyone getting rid of clothes that are too big?

alphaechokiwi · 14/11/2020 07:28

@Winningatseesaw that's fantastic. Such a great feeling to go down a size!
My 'bigger' clothes are not in great shape, so yes, I will be getting rid when the time comes.
I have lots of nice smaller sized clothes stored away from a few years ago.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/11/2020 07:57

Winningatseesaw well done!

I've not done anything with my bigger clothes yet, but then I've still got boxes of children's height 128, 132 and 136 clothes in the basement and my youngest is a tall 9 year old wearing height 146 clothes...

I do intend to take it all to the charity shop, and sort my wardrobe too... There is only one charity shop (warehouse size) locally though, and it has odd opening hours and isn't on my route anywhere, so I'm bad at getting around to it (obviously!)

alphaechokiwi · 15/11/2020 08:02

104.3 kg this morning. It's a 0 4kg loss which I'll happily take after last week's big drop. With a fair wind I just might hit my next mini goal next week, which is 10kg lost from my starting weight of 113.5kg.
Hope you are all well this morning x

Winningatseesaw · 15/11/2020 20:24

Well done @alphaechokiwi. Brill work. We'll be congratulating you on your 10kg loss next week for sure.

I think I'll keep a couple of larger things but get rid of most. I've had a wardrobe clear out and kept stuff I'm hoping to get into soon!

Struggled again this weekend. Finding it really hard when socialising. Thinking Tuesday weigh in might be disappointing!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 16/11/2020 06:11

Well done alphaechokiwi !

Finally down to 97kg "first thing in the morning weight" this morning after being stuck on 98 for a while... Its nice to see movement as I am not doing anything different to when I was losing faster, but if course I'm fully aware plateaus are par for the course... Doesn't make them any less frustrating though!

I guess Id like to see 95kg by Christmas, as that's 14 st something, out of the 15s.

Working in multiple units of measurement gives you more scope for milestones 😆😆

alphaechokiwi · 16/11/2020 08:14

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme that's great - well done. Plateaus are so frustrating. I'm glad you managed to get moving again.... I'm sure you'll see 95kg by Christmas... that's a very realistic goal.
