Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

RunningNinja try this green tea - it is really nice!

Day one has been good. Missed breakfast without any problem, and then had garlic rice with tomato sauce and an egg (something like arroz a la cubana) for lunch and lentil soup with bread for dinner. And some fruit. Not sure whether that is enough to eat for the day, and fear I will wake up hungry at 3am. Tomorrow I will try to download the couch to 5k podcasts and see whether I can inspire myself to go running.

NorthernPowerMouse wine is a killer for diets. But do not regret it - wine should always be appreciated!

Hope everybody else had a good day and if not then hope tomorrow is better.

SunshineCake · 03/01/2020 22:04

Good plan @RunningNinja79 though I'm not sure what the next rule will be. I feel I've drunk a bit more water today and I think being in the kitchen all day has helped as the fridge is right there and I could keep topping up with cold water instead of sipping room temperature fluids.

fallfallfall · 03/01/2020 23:50

kkao.co/
My current go to tea; great flavour, no calories, vegan, gluten free.

Sekhmetthecat · 03/01/2020 23:54

fallfallfall that looks fascinating - what does it taste like? chocolate?

fallfallfall · 04/01/2020 00:29

Like genuine dark chocolate, it’s chipped up cocoa husks. I get a nice rich flavour using two heaping tea spoons. Let it steep for 5-7 minutes

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/01/2020 06:36

Oooh, interesting @fallfallfall but I could see myself wanting to have it made with milk and added marshmallows Blush

I was hungry last night, but got on with it. Off the food topic, I have ordered a dry body brush to help my lymphatic system. Will report back to see if it helps me feel/look better.

Woken early (5:45) by next door's cat Angry so feel tired and grumpy before the day's even begun. Out this morning for a walk round a NT property, putting the tree away and cleaning upstairs this afternoon, so hopefully nice and active.

Have a good day all of you!

Weekday28 · 04/01/2020 06:52

Morning everyone!

Yesterday was a good day but did cave and have a thorntons choc at work and had two quorn mini sausages while making my girls packed lunches yesterday, whoops.

Slowish morning today ,taking the tree down and riding the house then taking my girls to different clubs- but all walkable so will get steps in and will take bikes for kids so we can play in the park whilst waiting for one class to finish.

I'm a daily weigher too however I'll update here once a week. I've woken up to my period so my weight loss will probably slow down a bit until it's done.

Have a lovely day all x

cherrytree63 · 04/01/2020 08:04

Morning everyone.
I had a crap day yesterday. So much to do.
I broke a small bone in my foot in September, also in my wrist November 2018 and now have arthritis. I had a steroid injection in my wrist on Thursday and I've had some sort of reaction to it, my wrist is swollen and very painful.
I had so much to do and the pain was just getting worse and I managed to bump my head twice as well.
By the time I got home I was tearful and HANGRY .
I was all for going to the chippy and writing it off as a bad day but my OH said he'd cook.
He faffed about for ages and made mash, vege mince, Yorkshire puddings and carrots.
Far too many carbs but I'd have eaten anything put in front of me!
It was a WMAD but I had to fight the evening munchies craving and went to bed hungry and a bit miserable.
I've got more time today so I'll make soup and boil a load of eggs so I've got food to hand when I'm hungry.
Have a good day everyone.

NorthernPowermouse · 04/01/2020 08:09

Morning all, I’ve just weighed in and I’ve lost 6lbs! Down to 11st 8 now. I know it won’t continue like that but hugely encouraging nonetheless.

I’ve got loads of cleaning and tree-packing-away to do today so will be active but it won’t register on mfp. Will try to get out with the kids tomorrow for a decent walk though, or even try to persuade DS to do junior parkrun...I can just about manage 2k!

Have a lovely day all.

BustedDreams · 04/01/2020 08:35

Good Morning All

@fallfallfall thank you. Keep warm! (Do you do snow Angels Grin

@FrazzledCareerWoman I agree Fitbits are very motivational. Hopefully they’ll work with your dd.

@dottydolly72 well done on your progress. @fallfallfall also has a Apple smart watch thingy mebobby. She might be able to guide you.

@doadeer welcome back! Sorry to hear about your painful hips. Is physio not helping?

@Mumski45 welcome. Well done on your loss so far. You’ll like it here with us lot, we’ll keep you on track Grin

@MrsJonesAndMe report back on your loofah brush use. I’ve heard they are elective for lymph drainage with diligent use.

Sorry if I’ve not responded to all specific posts ... oh driving to our meeting place, then we are walking for the day. Not too far as we are slow buggers Grin. Hotel and spa not great but making the most of it. It’s reminiscent of Crossroads for those that remember it, complete with a Miss Diane & Benny. Menus from the 70s too. Stayed on track ate the middle out of a quiche for starter and had the chicken and peas, choosing to leave the ‘we will smash them all to bits’ instant Smash. Ate one spoonful of the insides of a Brandy Snap basket.

Have a good day whatever you’re doing.

Morning all, checking in. Weight this morning is 9.12 but I did scoff a whole pack of after eights last night watching Dracula (what a terrible ending)! Anyway, it's the weekend (last one before the kids go back) body pump booked and spin class for Tuesday.. will dig out that Apple Watch.. if anyone has one and can give me some tips that would be great 😆

@BustedDreams sounds like an eclectic mix!

Happy weekend all x

SunshineCake · 04/01/2020 09:09

I guess I am demonstrating the fluctuations even if I don't know what to take from them

31.12.19. 12 stone 7.8
1.1.20. 12 stone 7.8
2.1.20. 12 stone 6.6
3.1.20. 12 stone 7.2
4.1.20. 12 stone 6.4

I've done two days of only eating two meals, eating in a smaller window and eating all the meal together. For instance having a small pudding soon after the meal not an hour or so later.

Have to go now but will back later to read everyone's posts.

Have a good day everyone.

FrazzledCareerWoman · 04/01/2020 10:12

@SunshineCake have you tried recording your weight in my fitness pal so you can see the trend? Look at these fluctuations:

FrazzledCareerWoman · 04/01/2020 10:14

I had a bad day yesterday, exercise made me too hungry! Net calories probably around maintenance level so all is not lost. However the baby was awake 3:30-4:30am so broken sleep is not helping me today. Had a decent breakfast so will try to just have a protein shake for lunch

Galvantula · 04/01/2020 10:18

Here's 6 months of regular weighing in MFP for me.

Massive fluctuations, almost looks like a regular monthly big spike among the smaller ups and downs.

The downward trend starts after I joined the thread of course 😁

annabell22 · 04/01/2020 13:34

@NorthernPowermouse wow, well done!

@BustedDreams that menu sounds like the perfect weight loss solution!

Today's daily weigh in got me exactly the same result as yesterday, the day before, and the day before that, so I have not lost a gram/ounce in 2020 so far. I was hoping for a whoosh given that I had to get up twice in the night to pee, but it was not to be. I weighed after my swim yesterday and before eating anything (TRE) and I was 700g lighter. I guess my soya mince bolognese kiboshed that since there was no sign of that this morning.

Back to work for me tomorrow after 3 weeks off. Must try and keep up the activity and not spend too much time at my desk. I am going to leave on time and come straight home to use the gym.

RunningNinja79 · 04/01/2020 16:56

Lots of Green Tea talk. That chocolate one sounds interesting. Annoyed I went to Sainsbury today, but I forgot to look. Will pop into Morrisons on the way to work on Monday to have a look at other flavours.

Been a good day today. I didn't hold off eating till 11 as its the weekend and I always find it harder with the family. I did however stay fasted until 10:30 so not far off. I'm happy to relax a bit more on weekends anyway. Will just stick to the mindful eating approach.

I did parkrun this morning and then when I got home cleaned the car. This was all in a fasted state so that's a bonus too.

I have also bought a notebook as I'm going to go back to the weighing every day and recording my average weight. Who knows, maybe when I tried to lose weight those 3 times in 2019 I may have just weighed myself on a heavy day which is why I appeared to not lose any weight despite being really good and denying myself all the nice foods such as chocolate and biscuits.

I am the same weight today as I was on NYE. 12 stone 10.2 lbs. Not a bad thing as I haven't put weight on. Long run tomorrow. 8-10 miles. This always helps.

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/01/2020 17:12

Hi all

I'm pleased to report I've lost 1.5lbs, so 3lbs of my Christmas weight. That's just by cutting the Coke, increasing the water and getting back to IF. Not particularly watching what I eat too much (yet) Also means I'm back at my target weight which I'm aiming to maintain till spring.

That hotel sounds awful @BustedDreams and I will report back on the brushing...when it arrives.

Loving the graphs with the downward trends. @SunshineCake I think you're overall going down. Guess you'll have to cut the stuff you're intolerant to completely and stick to it to see any massive result? Clutching at straws as no real idea...

I'm off to take my vits and then brush my teeth as I'm done for the day now!

fallfallfall · 04/01/2020 17:42

frazzle same exercise/excess (possibly) kind of day.
I was suppose to meet up with a friend at 10am to hike, she moved the time to 11. By the time we headed out, put in the 1.5 hours work, meant it was 1:30 when I got home starving. Soup was still frozen as dh didn’t bother and all my morning tasks (entirely my wish list of things to do) had mentally piled up. Although I had veggie soup, a scone landed in my mouth....then some licorice...then tea with milk and sugar...I did regain my composure by 5. Had a half portion of pasta and meat sauce. I resisted and snacks and went to bed content.
Progress on the quilt made and I made my grand daughters birthday card.
busted no snow angels

Lose in 2020/January.
MrsJonesAndMe · 04/01/2020 18:10

*that didn't make any sense. Lost half of my Christmas weight.

Looks lovely @fallfalfall

Mumski45 · 04/01/2020 18:39

Hi checking in with a further 1.2lbs off this morning. Definitely still water as that's 3.8lbs in 4 daysShock.
No exercise today but have made 18 portions of soup in 6 different varieties using new soup maker.
Hoping to get back on the bike tomorrow depending on the weather so tomorrow will be a good day.
Not too sure about today as I had lots of tasting during soup making which is difficult to track but then again I haven't had any snacks other than the odd grape. Dinner was a normal portion of shepherds pie although I couldn't finish it so that's a good sign my stomach is shrinking.

I weigh daily so I'll know tomorrow if today was a good day or not.

Hope you are all managing to stick to your plans. Unfortunately I can't drink green tea but that chocolate tea looks interesting

SheepSocks · 04/01/2020 19:38

I'm craving sugar and chocolate so much. I truly am addicted! Can you anyone give me some tips on how to ride this out?

2020newme · 04/01/2020 19:42

Good day for me today. Really busy this morning so didn't eat until about 13.30. I am going to try to push lunchtime back further and further so by February I can get to One Meal A Day (OMAD) which I did years and years ago for about two years and I was very slim Smile

Today had Frosties for lunch Grin with milk and then for dinner had some Gino Di Campo recipe Salmon with balsamic vinegar and honey, served with a load of stir fried vegetables with tabasco and soy. So it was all very tasty and yummy.

MFP says I still have 450 calories left so I definitely won't be able to close it but I can live with that. Forgot to weigh myself this morning but will do tomorrow. Lazy day planned.

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/01/2020 20:12

@SheepSocks I don't cut it out completely, but cut down and limit myself to 8 hour of eating window which means less opportunity to stuff myself. Any nuts or pop corn you could have instead?

SheepSocks · 04/01/2020 20:16

@MrsJonesAndMe I could eat DD toddler popcorn. I know this sugar craving phase will pass but it's so hard!
