Hi all,

Just wanted to get a sense check of how ‘healthily’ I’m eating so asking you to give me the brutal truth! I’m trying to eat a healthy amount to lose weight steadily but consistently. Just to caveat, I’m dairy intolerant so have to avoid quite a few foods.

Thanks in advance Flowers and please be brutal!

Breakfast:
2 pieces mango, handful blueberries, small handful raspberries.
2 cups of tea with small amount hazelnut milk

Lunch:
1 chicken breast
50g brown rice
4 pieces broccoli

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with tomato/onion/garlic sauce
100g diced potatoes with table spoon of olive oil
Salad leaves (no dressing just balsamic)

Snacks:
1 piece Turkish delight (bite size)
2 tangerines
1/4 pack beef biltong

Sounds good to me!

captaincorellisvaseline · 10/06/2019 20:31

Aren't you starving?!

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:33

Is it not enough?! All advice welcomed and thank you all in advance

It looks ok but don't get too hung up on the weight of your food. I understand you want to know exactly what you're eating but I find obsessing and weighing food does more harm than good in the long run.

Like you wrote 4 pieces of brocolli? You can eat as much of most fruit and veg as you like, infact you should because its better to try to fill up on lighter foods first.

My point is, don't restrict yourself. The weight will come off, don't wreck your own head about it. And good luck!

captaincorellisvaseline · 10/06/2019 20:37

I've no idea if it's enough really; I'm just imagining how I'd feel if that was all I'd eaten today! I'm tall and active and pregnant (and greedy) which are all playing a part in that! 😂

Does it feel sustainable to you to eat in this way longer term?

RosaWaiting · 10/06/2019 20:40

I'd be hungry on that but I do some kind of workout nearly daily

btw hazelnut milk in tea? I love hazelnut milk generally but can't imagine that tasting good. Sorry to go off topic...!

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:42

Thank you all for advice- you’re right on veg @TheLoneWolfDies - I will be more liberal and fill up on it!

@captaincorellisvaseline I wish I was tall (and pregnant but that’s another story) but short and dumpy here! It feels enough as I have a 1200 calorie a day limit to lose weight, but I may need to think about what additional healthy snacks I can eat!

I have had 1440 cals today and had

Raspberries
Strawberries
Apple
Pear
Warburton thin cinnamon bagel
2 coffees
Large homemade salad
Roast chicken
WW whole meal wrap
4 Scan Bran
4 Laughing Cow Light
BFTY Tomato cup a soup
Soreen strawberry loaf bar
Nespresso
Ginos Healthy Italian Roasted Veg and Prawns
Cous Cous
and finally 1.5l water

If I substituted the cous cous for salad, it would have been nearer your 1200.

I think you need to eat more to fill up and less protein. Are you happy with what you've eaten?

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:48

@RosaWaiting it is not great in tea but can’t think of anything else to have in my tea (not a soya milk fan)

OP posts:
RosaWaiting · 10/06/2019 20:50

OP oat milk is fine in tea if that's any help!

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:50

Wow @Autumnchill - how do you eat so much on so few calories?! I think I’m doing this wrong! I do get hungry but just never have calories left and get anxious about over eating....

OP posts:
Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:50

Also warburtons thin cinnamon bagel sounds devine

OP posts:
Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:51

Oohhh @RosaWaiting I’ve never tried oat milk- may wander off to Sainsbury’s now...

PatriciaHolm · 10/06/2019 20:54

Needs way more veg, which would help you fill up too.

joystir59 · 10/06/2019 20:55

I've had
Breakfast
50g porridge made with water, a blob of low fat yoghurt, a banana
Lunch
I and a 1/2 filets smoked mackerel, green beans, peas, carrots small potato.
An apple
This evening after work I've eaten half a small watermelon.
Tea, coffee and water throughout the day.

Autumnchill · 10/06/2019 20:56

I use Nutra Calorie Counter app. I fill up on fruit / veg / salad and as someone suggested earlier, don't just have 4 broccoli, have more broccoli than rice and chicken. Cut the chicken up and mix it in so you get a bit in every mouthful.

I also look for snacks under 90 cals where I can.

The tea I made tonight, I doubled the courgettes, peppers and onions but potato and prawn quantity stayed the same.

Good luck and if you want some help, send me a PM

joystir59 · 10/06/2019 20:57

Sorry, calories are:
Breakfast 300
Lunch 500
Apple 60
Watermelon not sure, maybe 500?
Total 1360

NeatFreakMama · 10/06/2019 20:58

I used to find anything 1200 or under slowed my weight loss. My magic number was around 1500 plus exercise. Just track it and see what yours is. I reckon you're slightly under eating but depends if you're sitting around all day or if you're exercising. Good luck!

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 20:59

Thanks @Autumnchill that is so helpful and I’ll start increasing veg portions and looking for 90 cal and under snacks. I think I was in the incorrect mindset that I had to eat very small quantities to lose weight.

@joystir59 that sounds even less than me- do you mind me asking if you feel full?

OP posts:
Autumnchill · 10/06/2019 21:00

Oh no! Fill up 😁

Btw bagels are in Tesco

Aberforthsgoat · 10/06/2019 21:07

I’m pregnant at the moment so I’m constantly hungry - yours sounds like a tiny amount to me Grin but I know what you mean about having a calorie level to lose weight

I’m not on weight watchers and am not calorie counting but am trying to eat a balanced diet:
Breakfast
Sugar free granola with blueberries and raspberries. Greek yogurt.
Couple of satsumas.

Lunch
Sardines and whole grain pasta, peppers, peas, green beans, red pesto

Dinner
Grilled chicken
Brown rice
Peppers, edamame, bean sprouts, carrots, leeks, broccoli and homemade sauce

Snacks: dry crackers, handful raisins, some walnuts

I’m probably going to end up eating more though and at least some dry crackers to stave off the nausea. Too scared to calorie count at the moment

Aberforthsgoat · 10/06/2019 21:07

And the bagels sound incredible, might get some tomorrow!

Summerflab · 10/06/2019 21:08

@Autumnchill you’ve started a trend with the bagels 😬

OP posts:
Summerflab · 10/06/2019 21:10

@Aberforthsgoat that sounds really sensible and well balanced. It would be interesting to know how much height impacts calorie intake as I like your meal plan too!

OP posts:
RoseMartha · 10/06/2019 21:14

I would go for a bit more breakfast. Can you eat porridge? It would go well with the fruit and keep you feeling full.
