SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/05/2019 09:53

That's slightly over 2lbs a week.
I'm planning to exercise every day & do the 5:2.
Anyone fancy joining me?

Hope dc is better Smiled. Good luck with the fasting.
I’m finding fasting really good. It does get hard at times but the feelings of hunger go away.
I prefer it to trying to plan healthy meals throughout the day and then fighting the snacking cravings.
By Friday, I’ll have done a week of blood sugar so I’ll weigh myself then.

Thanks salems
Fasting definitely works for me. It's just staying on it every week that's quite challenging.
Although after a couple of weeks I find I get into the swing of it.
Going for a swim now 🏊🏻‍♀️
Will check in later Smile

Welcome back OP I hope your DC are feeling better and you have some energy back.
I read Dr Fung's advice re fasting as advised by Iliveinsalemslot and thought I'd attempt it starting from last night till this afternoon and I lasted about half an hour before I caved and ate cheese and crackers Hmm late last night.
So I'll start again today. I have so far only had a cup of tea.
Last time I went on a proper strict diet to lose weight I did the old fashioned Scarsdale diet which did actually work albeit I went to bed starving the first 3 days then my body got used to it and I did lose weight and kept it off for ages.
It's just the lack of energy which gets to me most I need to crack that with the right food.

I prefer the idea of fasting to meal planning so it's definitely going to suit me so I will make it work.

Tantric check out Dr Eric Berg on YouTube on intermittent fasting too. He’s so motivating as he explains things so well.

I started on Saturday and I am one pound lighter by this morning, so I am feeling motivated by that! Lunch is going to be salad with roasted broccoli and a grilled cheese sandwich (v light on the cheese!).

I find if I split my meals up roughly 300 breakie/500 lunch/700 dinner, I seem fine and not hungry. Just gotta stay off the snacks!

Hi everyone. Day 2 done for me.

I was planning a 1200 calorie non-fast day but was really busy and ended up at just under 550 calories. I'm not that hungry either. (Terrible headache though, sugar withdrawal 😁)

I had a chicken salad for lunch and fish and veg for dinner. I walked loads today as well. Not lost anything yet!

Can I join please? 12 weeks until my holiday and two stone to lose so this is perfect timing Grin

I did quite well in late April, posting on another thread, and lost 5lbs but one big night out and it's all been downhill since then. Once I've had a glass of wine my resolve goes out the window.

Having tried all sorts of different methods I've concluded that the thing that works for me is calorie counting so I'm back on My Fitness Pal at 1200 calories. Also trying to think more mindfully about what is triggering my strong need to eat coffee and walnut cake. As well as working a pressured job I'm caring for my Dad who has Parkinsons and dementia and food is my go to solace after a bad day. This must change.

Today's food is:
Natural yoghurt and berries for breakfast.
Tomatoes and mushrooms on toast for lunch.
Salmon for tea, with a small portion of brown rice and lots of veg.

Smile

Hi guys, may I join too?

I've been sticking my head in the sand about things for a while now, but I really do need to shift some weight and get my BMI under control and look a bit better in a dress for a big company black tie event coming up in the summer.

My problem is normally quantity (and I love carbs).

Breakfast is either a banana or two slices of wholemeal toast with marmite

Coffee with half a sugar and some coconut milk

Lunch is the risky one. I never know what I fancy so have tended to end up with half a baguette sarni and a large bag of crisps.

Dinner tonight will be lamb ragu with a bit of pasta.

I really want to be running again but I have a very painful back at the moment that I also need to address :(

I am craving crisps so bad! I love crisps and could live off them. Mil always buys some decent crisps when she visits because she knows I love them. I’ve got a big bag of M&S sour cream and onion crisps in the cupboard since Saturday and I feel my resolve weakening.
No no no. I’m not having them.

Hi all, another newbie joining in! This thread is ideal for me as I go on holiday in 3 months and would love to be 1- 1.5st down by then. I have been gaining and losing the same few pounds for over a year and I really need to take back some control. I am following ww so will be sticking to my 23 points a day but have also downloaded my fitness pal and logging in there as well with a view to staying below 1200 cals (I suspect I may have been eating too many zero point foods on ww, but they do of course have calories...). Exercise wise I have shredded this morning and will also go for a swim later. Saturday morning is my weigh in, hope everyone is having a good day!

Well done everyone. Keep at it!
My challenge is to see this as a healthy lifestyle change, rather than a quick fix.
So when I have a shit day I just need to have a healthy day next instead rather than sodding the whole thing off!

I need to stop eating my toddlers leftovers! But I hate wasting food!

I was so hungry that I just had my dinner!
I also had some lentil crisps too.
So altogether today I’ve had -
Lentil crisps (small pack)
Dahl and spinach paneer,
Bit of home made choc cake
Bit of watermelon.

That’s it for today. I feel quite content.

Holy Shit..I weighed myself today for the first time in months. 12st 7lbs!!
That means I’ve put on a stone in about 6 months.
Shit just got real.

@ILiveInSalemsLot -- I don't know what diet/plan you're following, so this might be rubbish advice! But poppadoms are surprisingly low in carbs, fat and calories. The Sharwoods plain poppadoms are only 1point each on WW. And they give that crunchy, crispy effect.

@Bookaholic73 -- it got real here too. I was 11st 0 last August, and I'm 12st 3 today. I didn't even go nuts or have an especially decadent few months! I just quietly and boringly expanded.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 15/05/2019 17:22

Thank you HasThisSodding. I’ll try that.
I was kind of doing the blood sugar diet and combine it with fasting but I seem to be naturally veering towards a one meal a day type of diet and not being overly restrictive with what I eat but trying to keep carbs lowish and cals around 1000.
I hope it works!

My GCSE-stressed teenager is being especially snarly this afternoon which is really making me want to shovel chocolate in. So I'm posting here instead!

Very impressed with everyone's healthy lifestyle. Swimming, etc. Awesome. I've been sat at my desk all day.

Everyone here is having fish fingers, chips and peas tonight but I'm going to be 😇 and just have grilled salmon and broccoli instead.

I had a homemade WW-recipe curry for lunch. At least I hope it was a WW recipe. I found it in the freezer and then it's been in the fridge for a WEEK so if it isn't healthy, hopefully I'll get food poisoning and just crap/vomit it all out 😆

@ILiveInSalemsLot - yay! Hope it helps. Resist the urge to have two pints of lager and a Madras on the side. :)

1 meal a day and just 1000 calories sounds like a nightmare to me! I'd do that by 8am! So good luck and well done - I'm impressed.

Hi everyone, I’d like to tag along too. Gained 30lbs since September 😧 and got told off at the endocrinology place (every three months), would be great to have lost some before the next appointment. Plus it feels horrible and it’s not fair on my horse.

So I’ve looked at my bmr and active calorie expenditure from September to now and worked out I need an average of 1400 calories a day to break even - I’m planning to eat that and gradually increase exercise and hopefully lose a lb or two a week. Actually started on Sunday so this is day 4 for me.

Out of curiosity I have used mfp to count calories alongside using the ww app this week as I was worried, like @bettybyebye, about overeating free foods. I seem to average 1100-1200 kcal a day and have definitely lost something this week. The scales will tell on Friday morning!

@ hasthis I can’t believe it! Well, actually I can, as I look about 6 months pregnant.
Got to look like Claudia Schiffer by the time August comes around...dirty weekend away for my fiancé’s birthday Wink

Just over 1500 calories today (apples, bananas, toasted rye bread with butter and marmite, massive 4 egg omelette with onions, red onions, red and green peppers and Parmesan plus drinks) and an active day (dog walking) will be just over 20000 steps. It’s usually a bit all or nothing with walking so aiming to be more consistent!
