That's slightly over 2lbs a week.
I'm planning to exercise every day & do the 5:2.
Anyone fancy joining me?

Actually I seem to be down by 4.2 lbs since May 13th 😧 which is great! 17lbs until I’m at the bmi point the endo thinks should be my maximum, 25 until I’m somewhere nearer the middle of the range.

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 21/05/2019 12:25

Well done, Ayahuasca!

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 21/05/2019 12:27

@Seer -- thanks for updating. I'd never heard of Dr Greger but googled and his daily-dozen list is brilliant. Tried watching his videos but his speaking voice massively outs me off - so I'll buy his How Not To Die book instead.

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 21/05/2019 12:27

*puts me off

TantricTwist · 21/05/2019 14:03

Soddingname yes I enjoyed every mouthful although MFP didn't.

Seer · 21/05/2019 16:19

@HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo I think he's ace but agree his voice isn't the easiest to listen to Grin

The book is great - it's big iirc but I found it a fairly quick and easy read.

If you're someone who naturally enjoys eating lots of fruit and veg, it's a fairly effortless and simple way of eating. I actually struggle to eat all of the 1200 calories some days because it's so filling.

Yesterday for example:

I fasted at breakfast.

Lunch was a big jacket potato with a lentil and veg stew (I batch cooked enough for several meals).

Dinner was brown rice, more stew, home-made lentil dal and a poppadom.

I had some fruit as a snack.

I go on the idea that I try to tick all the boxes of the Daily Dozen which easily keeps me around 1200 calories max and then at weekends I'll add in a few extras (eg a vegan magnum or a slice of cake) that take me to around 1500 calories.

@HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo I found this image really helpful to visualise it all

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/05/2019 16:49

I have finished the day under my calorie allowance (I always input what we are having for dinner first and work backwards).

I don't feel hungry at all though even though I am very careful to be accurate and overestimate things rather than under estimate.

So MFP is having a fit and won't give a weight loss projection Sad

Ah well, at least I haven't caved on day 2! Hopefully, when I weigh in on Mon I will have lost some weight!

AyahuascaTrip · 21/05/2019 16:59

Thanks hasthis 😊

pumpkinpie you have to go just over 1000 to get the weight loss predictions from MFP, but losertown is really accurate once you get the right activity multiplier www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php

TantricTwist · 21/05/2019 18:41

I had eggs for breakfast today instead of my usual cup of tea which on top of my potato salad lunch and dinner of 2 tablespoons of DD's mash and huge bowl of temderstem brocolli I've felt full all day long.

So basically it looks like I need to eat more eggs really, hopefully to curb my midnight snacks.

TantricTwist · 21/05/2019 21:36

Hmm then I stopped feeling full and ate some trifle and still having some calories left over from my 1200 from MFP I am having a couple of glasses of wine. Am currently watching 'It's your fault I'm fat', although I have no-one to blame but myself although I was 3 sizes smaller pre DD Looking at you DD becasue I lost it all after DS

habibihabibi · 22/05/2019 05:04

TantricTwist Eggs are very filling and get me through the day too.
Ive been eating 2 eggs and with a handful of bacon bits and 1,/2 avocado for breakfast and homemade chicken keto soup or a.low carb protein meal for dinnet ot lunch .
Lost 6 pounds in 9 days so almost 1/4 of the way there.

Tanaqui · 22/05/2019 05:17

Might some protein with the mash and broccoli have helped keep you fuller for longer Tantric? A bit of grated cheese if you are veggie, or some fish to make the potatoes a fishcake/fish pie type thing?! Mash and broccoli are probably both digested quickly?

ltk · 22/05/2019 07:06

Tantric are you only eating 1200 calories each day? That's low! I would never survive that Smile

I've lost 5 pounds now! Only 3 more pounds to go and I am finally back below BMI 25.

No. Biscuits.

ltk · 22/05/2019 07:09

seer that visual on healthy the daily dozen was really useful. Thnx.

sirmione16 · 22/05/2019 07:37

Hey all :) my misters a chef so thought I'd share his low cal/low carb meal ideas he's come up with - they're amazing!

  1. Salmon in a bbq rub (not sauce! Use seasoning and some light oil) with broccoli and cheese fritters (fried in fry light)
  1. Veggie kebabs (have attached a picture of the meat substitute, it's amazing so flavourful) use one pitta and have extra on the side. Use light mayo.
  1. Chicken and prawn lettuce tacos. Dice up everything (chicken, prawns, tomatoes, onion, coriander) small and fill lettuce leaves
  1. Courgetti with plum tomatoes, parsley and prawns with 2 slices of garlic bread

ILiveInSalemsLot · 22/05/2019 07:44

Everyone seems to be doing well here! Thanks for the daily dozen info. I love all those foods so should be a breeze, right? Smile

Another fasting day. Some days I do 16:8 but I end up overeating. I’m going to stick to 20:4 and eat ‘breakfast’ at 2.30 and dinner by 6.30. That seems to work better for me.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 22/05/2019 07:46

Thanks Sirmione. Fab ideas.

sirmione16 · 22/05/2019 08:12

Personal progress update: decided to fast breakfasts, have a protein shake for lunch, then a healthy dinner, allow myself as much fruit as I want throughout the day and one "snack". Plus I've signed up for a class at my gym every day this week 💪🏻 determined to be confident on my wedding day

Seer · 22/05/2019 09:19

Isn't the (slow) speed of loss a challenging thing to be with? Even though I've lost a couple of pound a week (which I know is good) I keep wanting/expecting it to be faster.

It's not even like I'm desperate for this to be over so I can eat more, I think I'm just worrying that it might stop 'working'... and then what?

Plan for today:

B: Fast
L: jacket potato with lentil and veg stew (300ish calories)
D: Spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and tofu and broccoli (350ish calories)

Snacks: Fruit plus tea with soya milk

Seer · 22/05/2019 09:22

That's brilliant @ltk 💐

Redpriestandmozart · 22/05/2019 12:46

Late to the party but count me in please. I have managed to put on 2 stone in the last year :( I have MS, had bad relapse and was in my wheelchair most of the time for 6 months but it was the alcohol and snacking that caused the damage!

I'm feeling much better now so started back healthy eating 2 weeks ago and have lost 8lbs but seem to have stalled, I was hoping for a stone in May but it's not happening. Well done to everyone who has lost weight. Great thread.

TantricTwist · 22/05/2019 15:14

habib and ltk I ended up eating some slices of ham and pate with the rest of my Finn crisp later on after dinner so did have my protein albeit in the worst way eek.

I tend to just eat when I'm hungry or feeling dizzy during the day. In the evenings it will be more of a set sit down meal.

Today I've eaten pitta with tomato and hummus, 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee and have been on my feet walking for 2 hours because I got bored writing a report so needed fresh air so had a gander in TKMaxx as a purpose for random walk :)

ltk I enter all my food on MFP and it takes off calories if you enter your exercise for the day so I guess I'm actually eating more than that really. I should enter the exercise at the end of the day before I fall asleep.

TantricTwist · 22/05/2019 15:18

Tanaqui Yes I really should do that. Sometimes I just eat what's easiest there and then as I suddenly get hunger pangs so need to eat. Eggs would be a good protein for me nice and quick to rustle up.

I'm feeling hungry now actually even though I've just eaten an apple, the kids are due in from School so they will snack on doughnuts which don't interest me at all. I'm going to eat some ham I think.

TantricTwist · 22/05/2019 15:31

I just made an omelette from 3 eggs and added sweet chilli sauce so hopefully that will tide me over for a bit.

I like getting the feeling of being hungry before I eat, not always, but most of the time.

I'm 5' 6 and a size 16 / 18 as I've put on weight in the last couple of months - My size 16 clothes are very very tight esp all my jeans so I'm more of an 18 I think at the moment. I do not want to be buying new clothes at a size 18 so need to lose the bit I've put on and then carry on till I'm a 14 then 12 but 14 looks ok on me as my body is fairly proportional but I havent been a 14 for a few years now.
