Three day egg fast starting 23rd April

Easter will be over and I'm heading to Miami in ten days, so planning to reset my low carb eating with a quick egg fast.

I know it's not healthy or sustainable long-term, but it's worked well for me in the past. The first time I lost 7lb.

I'm following Stuntnun's thread from 2014 and this blog from I breathe I'm hungry.

The basic rules are :
At least 6 eggs a day, but loads more if you want. 1 tbsp of butter/mayo/coconut oil per egg and an optional 1oz of cheese per egg and bucketloads of water. I often add a little celery to make the egg mayo go down more easily- though it's not strictly allowed.

I did a big walking challenge and relaxed on the carbs ( then celebrated with wine and curry), so 4lb up from my highest comfortable weight. Hoping to woosh that away.

Anyone welcome to join in < now for butt covering bit> but I'm not medically recommending it!

Still here droning on to myself!

Another 1.5 lb down, so 3.5 in total in two days. Not feeling nauseous, week or egged out yet- but also not feeling super-energetic like I did last time.

I was less hungry and just managed 6 eggs yesterday, with fat and cheese. Tried a different recipe for lunch - savoury pancakes. They were delicious! 2 eggs, 1oz parmesan, 1 oz cream cheese and plenty of seasoning. I had them with a little butter to up my fat. They were so nice they may be my lunch today too.

B: Herb omelette
L: Savoury pancakes
S:Crustless quiche

Stopping tomorrow as going on a hilly bike ride and then out for supper, but will weigh in the stick to LCHF and another three eggy days next week.

Weak Blush
Maybe I'm so weak and egg-bound I can't spell!

Ooh I love eggs and have been low carving this week and stopped junk food (sugar and crisp addict over here)... it's actually amazing how much eggs fill me up. Anyway I just popped in to say that I've been having a silky omelette for breakfast most days... it's a Jamie Oliver recipe, it's bloody lovely... I'm going camping this weekend so will be going with the flow but will hit it back hard on Monday!

dingdang · 29/08/2019 09:16

Low carbing not carving!

cathyandclare · 29/08/2019 09:20

Lovely @Dingdang- what's Jamie's omelette secret? Always game to mix it up a bit!

OP posts:
dingdang · 29/08/2019 10:45

It's dead easy mix up two eggs, cook on very hot heat for about thirty seconds then fold over itself on each side. Delicious!

dingdang · 29/08/2019 10:45

I'd been overcooking omelettes for years!

cathyandclare · 29/08/2019 11:33

Same technique as my mum taught me Grin- delicious! I live on them.

Three day egg fast finished and 5.25lb down (important not to forget the quarter Grin ) It feels like the mad sort of three day 'crash diets' I used to do in the eighties, which have been seen as the devil's work recently.

I was watching Jason Fung about IF and this, and other short sharp fixes, seems to fit with his theories. Anyway, it seems to work for me. It's reset my appetite and drawn a line under a period of overindulgence! General lowish carb then some eggy days every few months is manageable.

Hi cathyandclare I love eggs and am thinking of trying this. If you are doing it again next week I will join you.

cathyandclare · 30/08/2019 16:00

Excellent! See you on Monday :)

Back to do a few eggy days before my holiday.

I kept to low carb over the weekend but regained 1.5lb. Which is OK, but I did 60 odd miles on the bike yesterday and didn't eat back my calories so hoped for better! Some may be swelling in my leg muscles because they are killing me at the moment. Anyway KOKO today:

B:American type scrambled eggs with herbs.
L: Cream cheese pancakes
S: Omelette with delicious looking new hot and spicy cheddar.

@Riddleofthesands- join me if you're on for it!

Hi cathyandclare yes it’s on! I have had one white coffee but sticking to water for the rest of the day. Weighed in at 9 st 12. I am small boned, rolls of fat at this weight. 9 st is the goal. I usually eat two meals a day. Lunch and dinner. Keeping it simple with 3 large eggs scrambled with salted butter for each meal. I am lazy and don’t exercise regularly (you cycled 60 miles? faints) but will try to force myself onto the cross trainer for 30 mins.

What does KOKO mean pls?

cathyandclare · 02/09/2019 10:39

3 eggs scrambled with butter sounds delicious!

I'm a new cyclist, quite like it because it feels like a morning out rather than exercise. We were just chatting and looking at the scenery most of the time!

KOKO- Keep on keeping on, think someone said it on the Bootcamp threads. Good luck today :)

Yesterday was a wash out for me! I think i just didn't eat enough early in the day and was maybe still hungry from the day before- anyway, suffice to say that I did not stay on plan!

Stayed lowish carb ( although made myself a cappuccino and an low-carb almond muffin mid afternoon ) and weight is the same.

Have just made some cream cheese pancakes for breakfast ( 2 eggs worth ) which were incredible. So hoping I'll do better today.

I had a good day, didn’t struggle, lost 1 1/2 lbs. Didn’t exercise but will try again today. This is my best week for eating as my period just finished. Week before my period I would find this very hard. I am 52 so not gaining is a victory at this point. KOKO. I have been over weight since Christmas and if and when I reach my goal I am thinking of treating myself to a Toast jacket. Good luck today.

Belindabelle · 03/09/2019 10:20

I have been following this thread to see what kind of results you are getting. I am really struggling with my weight at the moment. I have never been this big for this amount of time. All my clothes are tight and getting tighter. I am fairly good Mon-Fri then it all goes to pot at the weekend.

I have been doing 16/8 most days for the past few weeks but obviously my calories over the week must be too high.

If you have time could you post the recipe for the pancakes and souffle. They sound delicious.

cathyandclare · 04/09/2019 07:58

Back on track here and a pound down. Heading off for a bike ride soon, so that should help!

I'll make the soufflé tonight, I chuck stuff in so not sure about quantities but I'll keep a tally and let you know tomorrow. The pancakes are:

1 egg/ 1 desertspoon philly/ either a sprinkle of parmesan and seasoning or a spoon of splenda depending on your preference.

Whisk together then fry in a little butter- yum!

Definitely an omelette for lunch and soufflé for supper, not sure about breakfast. Having a coffee now (Lactofree milk, but hoping I'll burn it off!)

Flat out here, kids going back to school tomorrow. Still happily eating eggs, quail eggs for dinner. Didn’t weigh this morning.

Riddleofthesands · 05/09/2019 07:05

Lost 4 1/4 lbs, v happy with that. I still like eggs but missed my veg.

cathyandclare · 05/09/2019 07:19

Well done, great loss!

I've added in salad this week, so losses not as good but having done 3 days last week I felt in need! 2lb down and have one day to go, feeling slimmer and definitely less hungry.

OP posts:
Morgan12 · 05/09/2019 07:26

I can't believe this works!

Egg and cheese are my two favourite things.

I need to try this just as an excuse to eat them for 3 days 😂

Does it need to be 3 /5 days in a row?

joystir59 · 05/09/2019 07:52

Why not just low carbish with lots of protein fruit and veg and sometimes a bag of chips, a cake, a bit of chocolate? As in, eat normally? I've don't that all year and I am very slim and it's sustainable and I feel great.

joystir59 · 05/09/2019 07:54

If you just cut out MOST but not all bread, pasta, potatoes and rice you will gradually lose weight anyway. Carbs make you bloat and make you hungry imo

chillychicken · 05/09/2019 08:05

Why not just stick to eating normally with smaller portions? I’ve lost 8kg since January and kept it off. Haven’t ditched anything at all, just increased protein and reduced portion sizes.

I bloody hate fad diets. They don’t work, hence you’re having to just eat eggs again because you’re the same weight you were 4 months ago. Just eat normally!
