Three day egg fast starting 23rd April

Easter will be over and I'm heading to Miami in ten days, so planning to reset my low carb eating with a quick egg fast.

I know it's not healthy or sustainable long-term, but it's worked well for me in the past. The first time I lost 7lb.

I'm following Stuntnun's thread from 2014 and this blog from I breathe I'm hungry.

The basic rules are :
At least 6 eggs a day, but loads more if you want. 1 tbsp of butter/mayo/coconut oil per egg and an optional 1oz of cheese per egg and bucketloads of water. I often add a little celery to make the egg mayo go down more easily- though it's not strictly allowed.

I did a big walking challenge and relaxed on the carbs ( then celebrated with wine and curry), so 4lb up from my highest comfortable weight. Hoping to woosh that away.

Anyone welcome to join in < now for butt covering bit> but I'm not medically recommending it!

Three days off the eggs and have stayed the same. Result!

I'm doing a few eggy days now before my holiday. Not expecting (eggspecting?) the same loss, but a pound or two would be great.

Eggtastic for you Grin
I did it for 3 days and have lost 4 pounds. Could have lost a bit more but my eggcess of blue cheese and mayo yesterday might have stalled the loss. I was quite sick of eggs by day 3. I am debating whether to carry on today and tomorrow but haven’t been to sorry for tmi toilet for 3 days, I am constipated and thinking to have some vegs today.
Are you planning to do the next 3 days? Egging you on Grin

cathyandclare · 29/04/2019 10:32

Well done! Actually not feeling great today so going to do Tues/wed/ thurs instead.

OP posts:
Prinlllu · 29/04/2019 11:47

Oh sorry you aren’t feeling well. I also decided to take a break today as the temptation of vegs was too strong. Will join you tomorrow for the next 3 days. Hope you feel better soon.

Bluesheep8 · 29/04/2019 18:16

I started a thread asking how this works...does anyone have a link?

cathyandclare · 29/04/2019 18:52

I think I put some links in my first post. It's very low carb basically, so puts you into ketosis and suppresses hunger. You end up eating pretty low calorie too.

Cathyandclaire - do you exercise on your ‘egg’ days? Would like to try it, but I do run most days.
Thank you x

cathyandclare · 29/04/2019 19:44

I do but I've low-carbed for ages. If it's your first time it can be harder for a while

Have been a little half hearted this time, loads of deadlines for work and I WFH so the fridge is ever-convenient! But even though I've had plenty of coffees with lactofree milk and the odd handful of nuts I'm 2lb down. So, 6lb off in total. Will keep on keeping on- but will be happy to stay at this weight for my holiday, any further loss will be a bonus (and may give me a little more mojito leeway in Miami!)

Started this yesterday. It's going fine so far! Smile

tobee · 07/05/2019 15:09

Helps that underweight dh is away for work this week and so no distractions.

cathyandclare · 07/05/2019 17:11

Good luck! I maintained a 6lb loss in total- on holiday now and no scales but clothes don't feel tighter. Are you being inventive with the egg recipes?

OP posts:
tobee · 08/05/2019 02:40

Not that much really! Scrambled eggs for breakfast, egg mayonnaise for lunch, omelette for dinner. For 2 days!

Thinking of trying "snickerdoodle pancakes" for breakfast tomorrow. Which I found as an egg fast recipe online. It's eggs whipped with cream cheese fried like a pancake with added Stevia and cinnamon!

Have discovered turmeric tea with orange and star anise. Very nice!

Finding it easy so far. 2 pounds down from yesterday's weigh in this morning. Wonder what will happen tomorrow? Grin

Egg-scuse me but When I read this I thought you must be yolking! But it's actually Eggsellent!
You're doing a Cracking job and your great weight loss is a good eggsample but has me scrambled and fried my brain !
You haven't mentioned any Egg-sercise but Omlettin' it slide. I'll have to hatch a plan maybe involving getting laid 🤔.
I love fruit in the morning but a boiled egg is hard to beat ! I bet your favourite day is Fry-day, I know it's mine, I'm always soooo eggstatic for the weekend that I keep singing "it's fried egg....I'm in love" or sometimes "don't go bacon my heart.... I couldn't if I fried".
I should eggsplain that carbs are also eggstinct in my house 🙂.
Anyway Im not gonna tread on eggshells, or use fowl language, i just wanted to Eggspress my support and egg you on, you're a good egg OP !!! Sounds like you've cracked it !!
Eggsit stage left. Xx

tobee · 08/05/2019 14:33

Good grief! Grin

Can report back that snickerdoodle pancakes very nice. If lumpy. Plus I gaily threw ground clove on not checking properly when I thought it was cinnamon. Which I then added. Still I have nice breath.

Tobee 😂

Hello Team Egg, I have been doing this since Monday morning after yet another disappointing stay-the-same weigh-in whilst following WW. I am 2.6lb down so far. I thought I would only be doing it for 3 days due to a mid-week meal out, but that got cancelled so I could potentially do it until Saturday which will be 6 days in total... will my head be scrambled and I’ll want to beat myself to death with an egg whisk by then? Or worth it to keep going? I plan to go back to a stricter version of WW when I come off the egg fast, do you think all the weight I lose will immediately go back on? Thanks in advance, my eggy comrades 🍳

cathyandclare · 08/05/2019 22:23

I've done 5 days, but I was a little egged-out afterwards!

I'm on holiday after my egg fast and I've lost 2 more pounds! So the weight doesn't pile back on.

I have stayed low carb but relaxed and with wine.
An example day would be; veggie omelette and coffee for breakfast, salade nicoise for lunch, calamari:, kebabs and Greek salad for supper. Wine and fizz aplenty. So low-ish carb but high in calories.

I finished my 3 days last night. Weigh in this morning and I'm 3 pounds down. Not massive but I'm hyperthyroid (on meds) so that's what I expected.

I found it no problem to do. Could have carried on but I'm out today. Had my low carb go to breakfast of yoghurt this morning. Probably do another egg fast in a couple of weeks when dh is away for work for a few weeks.

One unthought of bonus was lack of much kitchen clearing up. No veg peelings etc ! Grin

cathyandclare · 26/08/2019 13:35

Feeling like a total billy bloater after the bank holiday weekend! Getting back on track and flushing out the bloat with a three day egg fast starting tomorrow.

I've got eggs, cheese and water- so I'm good to go!

OP posts:
cathyandclare · 27/08/2019 07:28

Weighing in for accountability!
I'm back up at the weight I was in April, so need to lose 4lb to get to a weight at which I'm comfortable and my trousers do up and 8lb to feel good.

Hoping for 4lb loss over the next few days, then a low carb weekend and a couple of days with lots of exercise , and few more pounds off next week.

On holiday from the 12th so would like to be at fighting weight by then.

Plan is :

Fried eggs for breakfast (2)
Cheese omelette for lunch
Cheese soufflé for supper

OP posts:
cathyandclare · 28/08/2019 08:16

Day one done and 2lb down, feeling and looking a bit less flabby already (weird when it's mostly water- but hey ho). Having a coffee with a dash of cream and thinking about breakfast but hunger has already disappeared in some egg/keto wizardry.

Today will have:

Scrambled eggs
oopsie rolls with marmite
Egg mayo with some celery ( not strictly allowed but I need the greenery and the crunch)

OP posts:
cathyandclare · 28/08/2019 08:21

Should add, I had 8 eggs yesterday, with a baby bell as a snack and cheese on my omelette and in the soufflé.

I was maybe a little low on fat because I don't like buttery fried eggs but used a little cream in the soufflé and in my morning coffee ( again not technically allowed - )
