Spring has sprung; the clocks have changed and Easter is just around the corner.

As the days get longer, let's spring clean our diets and blitz away the extra pounds.

Don't let the chocolate bunnies tempt you too much!

@QuimReaper my bestie from back when is massively enjoying my teemage skin and reminding me of my smug teenage self saying things like "its all in the diet" and "just good genes" . She had awful acne while I didnt even have a zit. I have more than made up for it now and have loads on my face now. :(

i am hoping it clears up too. I have had an okay week and am still hovering in the 56.8ish range. We may go away over the long weekend so I need to stay sane.

Next set of blood results have come in - still high on FSH so hoping they give me HRT soonish. Next GP appointment on Wednesday

Oh dear Autumn I'm sure you weren't that bad Grin To be fair the genes comment is bang on, some people are just lucky! It's funny how my skin was pretty perfect when everyone else's was playing up, was a bit up and down when I was 16-18 (although I don't remember being enormously bothered by it at that point), but then went haywire when I was about 20. Early 20s is a really rubbish age to have bad skin, my self-esteem was really fragile at that time and I guess teenagedom was so close that I could still feel sensitive about "not having grown out of" something associated with adolescence. I noticed a similar trend with some of my (female) friends - worse skin in their early 20s than their teen years. I wonder why it is. You have my sincere sympathies - I'm sure your self-esteem is hardier than mine was back then (I hope mine is now too!) but I became really obsessed with skin, thinking about it the whole time, examining my skin constantly, always looking at other peoples' skin on TV and in real life, I still remember how exhausting it was.* It was only contraception that sorted it out for good for me, absolutely nothing else made a significant difference, so hopefully the HRT will calm yours right down.

*Went away when my skin cleared up, only to be replaced with weight obsession a few years later! Sigh...!

AutumnNymph · 15/04/2019 19:35

@QuimReaper thankfully am not that bothered apart from a weird fascination with how it cropped up now. I told DH I am
Reversing age and growing younger

My self esteem is tied up with my weight 😂 I am partially blind so I guess am used to “being different” if you will and for some weird reason things that I think are beyond my control don’t bother me but with weight I feel I can control it with good diet and exercise etc so get upset when it doesn’t obey me 😱

OP posts:
QuimReaper · 16/04/2019 13:00

Autumn I completely get that! It's easier to create a self-esteem currency out of something which is for the most part entirely tied to what you put in your mouth (and how frequently you get off your arse...!) than something like your eyesight. I think that's why weight management so frequently leads to self-loathing and self-recrimination. Although for some reason I did take acne very personally, it felt like a personal failing of mine Confused I hope if I ever do have a resurgence I'll be more resilient to it.

I had a smashing day yesterday, and doing well so far today, with a chicken and leek soup waiting for me in the slow cooker for this evening! Epic fail on one front though - used one of those boiling-water taps to make tea in my thermos bottle thingy, and have just sat down and added a bit of soya milk to discover it's cold. Oops...

Congratulations to everyone who is continuing to post and making progress. I have lost 12 pounds this year so quite pleased with that. Not every week is great but I’m slowly heading in the right direction.

The exercise is continuing and I’m still running and have gone back to Parkrun on Saturdays.

Must keep going

AutumnNymph · 16/04/2019 19:55

@Dashel 12 pounds this year is awesome - well done you!

Hovering around the 11 st 11 or 12 all week. I'm beginning to wonder if 11st 9 is ever achievable although i haven't been that good this week. Bought heaps of mini eggs for staff at work today and ate more than my fair share.
Am going to do a fairly decent hill walk tomorrow, not a Munro but a decent walk so may put weigh in off until sunday.

9 days until holiday so hopefully that will be enough motivation for a golden week.
In line with other messages i am 50 and still have skin issues, this week particularly annoying and like you quim i beat myself up about it....Sad

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 21/04/2019 09:26

Tv I'm in the same boat. 10 12 seems the lowest I can go and 10 10 seems unobtainable. I'm consoling myself by thinking that my efforts to reach 10 10 are at least keeping me at 10 12 Grin

Saying that, I got back from visiting family late last night and this morning I'm 11 0.8. Hoping it's a blip.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone. I'm off for a bike ride today.

AutumnNymph · 23/04/2019 09:13

Happy Tuesday everyone ! How are you all doing?

With the glorious weather DH, DD , my parents and I snuck in a last min holiday in Wales. The weather and beach along with some good food and long walks was exactly what I needed. It’s done DH and me a world of good as well.

I weighed in this morning and didn’t expect to see a gain as I ate very welll and walked loads but I have somehow managed to gain 800 gms Shock.

Hoping it’s a blip and I go back to 56.7 which I have been holding on for dear life most of April!!

Also re skin issues - after seeing the holiday pictures I do look like a spotty teenager - ugh!

How is everyone doing ?

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 25/04/2019 16:51

Hi autumn. I'm fine thanks. Plodding on.

Work is crazy busy this week but I'm off to the lakes for the weekend for running and eating Grin.

I had hoped to hit 10 10 by this weekend but I'm still stuck at 10 13.

How are you? Any progress?

AutumnNymph · 25/04/2019 19:31

@Kick same here - work is insane - 4 day weeks are a killer! I have bounced back to 56.7 again after that blippy gain on Tuesday.

Day before holiday and 11st 12. Mildly disappointing but I'm not getting too annoyed by it. Will come back and try to make an effort for summer

AutumnNymph · 27/04/2019 09:05

@TVHubbyClaire have a fabulous holiday!

TVHubbyClaire · 27/04/2019 16:16

Thanks autumn...only a way for a week but first time away since big changes a year ago so I'm looking forward to just being somewhere different. Actually having quite a golden day so may well be flying with another Linda closer to target...

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 28/04/2019 07:26

Have a great holiday TV.

I am away for the weekend and definitely not being golden. I am being very active though.

I've got another big weekend next week but hoping to have a good week. It would be nice to start the may thread safely in the 10s.

Autumn how are you gettìng on?

QuimReaper · 29/04/2019 12:30

Hi everyone!

The Easter weekend became a 5-day binge fest for me so I was hiding from you all Blush I dread to think what damage I did, given how agonising the weight loss efforts have been lately! And I've just noticed there's ANOTHER long weekend next week, and the week after's my birthday! Argh! I'll brave the scales on Friday and try not to panic...!

Have a lovely holiday TV, hope you're off somewhere exotic? Eating and running in the lakes and a mini break to Wales sound lovely too Kick and Autumn, everyone's very summery at the moment!

AutumnNymph · 29/04/2019 20:35

@TV @Kick hope you had lovely weekends ! Enjoy the holiday !

@Quim welcome back !!

Am chugging along - I have had to get another set of blood tests done as the clinic seems to have messed up ! The GP has given me a provisional prescription for HRT which will Be automatically sent to pharmacy as soon as this blood test confirms what we already know !
Hoping that’s this week.

Diet wise I have been okay. I have rejoined David Lloyd’s From May 1 and am going to make upping my fitness levels which are crap right now my May goal !

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 30/04/2019 06:48

Welcome back quim. Your weekend sounds ace and worth the gain. An early happy birthday to you.

My weekend led to only a 1lb gain which is a miracle considering all the cake I scoffed Cake

Another stressful work week though so I need to be careful not to add to it.

Autumn I'm glad you are getting somewhere with the HRT. I'm having problems as the pill I've been taking for years is having supply issues. I went back to the gp who said it was probably time to move onto a proper HRT but then refused to prescribe it because my blood pressure was too high.

So now I've got nothing once my pill runs out in 2 weeks.

I know I should probably try going without hrt for a while but I felt so awful before I went on it I don't really want to risk it Sad

AutumnNymph · 30/04/2019 13:16

@KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse thats is so annoying about your medication.

Yesterday i felt closer to HRT and a solution but today's blood work shows my FSH level has gone down by 50% since the last test. I dont think the GP will give me any HRT now. I am meant to have a telephone consultation with her. Lets see what she says. :(

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I fell off the last thread (straight into some doughnuts!) but have been back on it the last couple of days. Easter did involve quite a lot of booze but also a lot of walking so that's something at least.

Today I've had some homemade chilli rice thing, babybel, an apple, a mini falafel and a couple of low calorie treats (back on 16:08 and no alcohol Mon-Thurs).

I am going to a Hen do this wknd so doubt it will be a golden one but will try and not get too drunk Grin Mostly because I just really can't handle it anymore and will feel like shite apart from anything else.

goingonabearhunt1 · 30/04/2019 18:40

I have no idea of my current weight as I'm too scared to weigh before I've had a few more golden days.

QuimReaper · 01/05/2019 11:36

Welcome back bearhunt!

Well, I've just done two Lucy Wyndham-Read workouts Halo Totalling A WHOLE ELEVEN MINUTES OF EXERCISE. My belly flab will be gone by morning, right?

(I am so embarrassingly unfit - I was genuinely sweating and am already feeling it Blush I suppose the point of short workouts is that they're supposed to be effective but still!)

Having a pretty stellar week so far, over 50K steps already (!) and MrQuim announced he wasn't hungry when he got in last night, which was good as it was kind of late and I wasn't really hungry either, so we're off to a Golden start Smile I've left my workout clothes out to prompt me to do another short workout tomorrow and Friday morning (we'll see about Saturday and Sunday...) and I've decided to start doing a few squats of an evening in front of the television, instead of just hula-hooping, which if I'm honest does diddly-squat (ha!) except maybe a bit of very mild cardio.

I'm feeling very motivated!

flobella · 01/05/2019 12:07

Don't worry about it @QuimReaper, those workouts are designed to make you huff and puff, hence her promising that even though they are only short, they do really have an impact. And it is better to do a short workout frequently than do a long one hardly ever because it is too boring/daunting/inconvenient.

I did start aiming to do 2 of her 7 minute workouts every day but have fallen off the wagon and haven't done any for over 2 weeks.

I have lost over 2 stone since November and now am struggling to lose the last 3.5lbs to get me to my goal weight. Any tips for boosting that last bit of stubborn weight loss anyone?

QuimReaper · 01/05/2019 12:15

Hello flobella welcome to the thread! Unless I missed you earlier? I've been a bit inattentive the last few weeks...! I feel you, those last couple of kilos are a nightmare. Gosh though, you've done absolutely amazingly so far! What's your strategy been? I'm sure we can suggest something to help shake it up.

Thanks for the reassurance too, that was my reasoning as well Grin I figure if I can build up to doing about 20 mins between 3 or 4 short workouts, it'll be sustainable and hopefully make a difference. I like the idea of mixing it up between arms, arse, legs, abs, etc. to keep me from getting bored. This is about the eighty zillionth time I've had these good intentions though...

I was actually looking for a 7-minute abs workout that I did a little while ago and could feel like mad the next day. Maybe it was that Adrienne woman rather than L W-R. I'm sure it was recommended by someone here - it was all done on a mat, whereas L W-R's seem to be mostly standing. Ring any bells with anyone?
