I’m 5’2 and for some reason over the last 6 months or so Iv put on weight. 8lbs. No reason why. Had a very stressful time last Summer and lost 1 1/2 stone without meaning to. I was very poorly. Then December put it all back on and more. No I wasn’t eating crap. I was eating what and how Iv always eaten since I turned 30. The problem is I can’t get my weight back down. Iv been eating 1200 calories a day max for over 2 weeks and haven’t lost anything. Iv been weighing and tracking calories. Always do 12k steps. I can’t get to the gym or run (wasn’t doing either of those things before anyway) I am vegetarian and eat well. Plenty of fruit and veg, don’t eat pasta, bread or potatoes as Iv limited those all through adulthood as gives me stomach ache. Don’t eat much dairy and the last 2 weeks really reduced the amount of sugar I eat and have had no cakes or chocolate etc. Yes this has made me feel better and belly isn’t as bloated but not made a difference to my weight.

I know the less you have to lose supposedly takes longer. I was 8’10 and now 9’4. Ideally I want to be 8.7 stone but would be happy back to 8’10. Anyone similarl?! Not sure what else to do to shift it? Until recently was having granola with either almond milk or high fat yoghurt for breakfast. Have tried just having a banana for breakfast. Iv been doing the 16:8 the last 2 weeks aswell ....

If your short and not a lot of weight to lose how do you do it?!

To clarify the 16:8 and breakfast, I eat dinner at 530pm and not eating a banana until about 10-30/11

I'm 5ft and am normally 8.5 stone (currently 4 months post baby with 1.5 stone to loose Confused)

I found pre baby that the only way for me to loose weight was to workout at least 3 times a week and keep active the other days(walking to work etc) on top of watching what I ate. Just like you no dairy minimum carbs etc!

Since DS was born I lost 2 stone but have now stuck at 9 stone 12 pounds no matter what I ate so I have now started exercising again. For me it's the only way it will shift! Hard work but totally worth it when I will be both fit and healthy again Grin

Smurfybubbles · 02/09/2018 15:06

Oh and you don't need the gym to workout. YouTube is amazing I do Joe Wicks hiit workouts, he has a channel. I also do quite a bit of yoga from Five Parks Yoga, all totally free, no equipment needed and can do it in my living room.

Ilmb · 02/09/2018 15:30

I didn’t do anything other than normal life before this. I’m much more active now then I was a year ago. I do small short sort of hiit sessions at home and yoga when I get up...

Come join us on the vanity pounds thread. Most of us are in your height and weight range with similar targets and also struggling! It seems the less you have to loose the harder it is 😫

schopenhauer · 02/09/2018 16:27

Me too! I’m 5 2 and before kids was always between 8 10 and 8 12. Now been trying to lose weight for months with no joy, lose the odd 3-5 pounds being super strict low carb but then feel disheartened when it goes back on after a small slip. I’m currently 9.12 and want to be back to 8.12 or even 9. I’ve just started 16/8 and loving it (though am hungover today after an extremely rare night out so not sticking to it today).

standbyyourmammaryglands · 02/09/2018 16:29

Cut out dairy it might be hormonal.

I couldn’t shift 7lbs, cut dairy out and it fell off

melpower · 02/09/2018 16:32

I'm 5 3 and managed to lose 7 pounds in a couple of weeks using this detox tea. Only purchased because it's reduced to 37 dollars here Wouldn't recommend purchasing unless you will commit through www.redteadetox.com/?hop=free1life&vendor=redteax

Annabelle4 · 02/09/2018 16:37

Same here OP. I'm 5ft 3 and 'gone up' to 9stone 4lbs. I'd be happy with 9 stone.
Those 4lbs are all on my tummy, I'm slim everywhere else, but have what appears like a 4 month baby bump.

I'm starting tomorrow. I did my shopping today. I know exactly what to do, and it works for me pretty quickly... brown everything (rice, bread etc), no alcohol, no snacking (maybe an apple), porridge or brown toast for breakfast. Salads for lunch.

Dinner is a depressingly small portion of something like spag bol (I make from scratch using lean mince, onions, garlic, tinned tomatoes).

Mini bar of chocolate with my night time tea.

Brisk walk everyday (40 mins or so)

That's it, I know from past experience(s)!! that it will take 2 weeks.

Worth a try?

Standbyyourmammaryglands · 02/09/2018 16:39

There is no nutritional difference in brown or white rice! The hust just hasn’t been taken off

Annabelle4 · 02/09/2018 16:39

Sorry OP, missed the part where you said you're a vegetarian. My apologies.
My point is the same though... I've come to realise that dinner is all about portion size. Mine has to resemble my kids portion size if I want to stay around 9 stone...

BIWI · 02/09/2018 16:40

What about how you look and how your clothes fit you though? Weight on the scales is a bit meaningless, really, because if you're a lot fitter, you may have laid down muscle.

Annabelle4 · 02/09/2018 16:53

I meant to say that I 'cheat' at weekends' - usually wine & a takeaway on a Friday or Saturday night, and we have a Sunday roast every Sunday.
I couldn't get through the week otherwise, unless I had those to look forward to Grin

Ilmb · 02/09/2018 18:53

Well Iv definitely ‘cheated’ this weekend. Have just had some cookie dough! First sugar in ages and fell bleugh now!

I don’t even eat rice, I do cauli rice! Iv been having soup every day for lunch that Iv made, lentil and veg and that fills me up till tea time. I just don’t get it! Other then the cookie dough today obviously!!

BIWI interestingly I thought I looked abit better in clothes but thought I must be imagining I as weight not changing!

My hips are 40 inches!! Never ever been that big! Is there a link to the vanity thread?

OP posts:
Ilmb · 02/09/2018 18:56

annabelle but this is my problem, I can’t find what works! 1000-1200 calories a day is rubbish! I can’t cut lower than that.

Iv tried a detox tea, not that link but it just gave me awful squits!

OP posts:
schopenhauer · 02/09/2018 19:31

I agree op if I cheat at, all weight lost is gone and more piled on.

Try 16/8? Or low carb? Rather than low calorie.

Ilmb · 02/09/2018 19:36

Iv been doing 16:8 last 2 weeks and no loss. I’m already quite low carb, no pasta, wheat at all, no potatoes etc. I don’t really want to cut anymore out, as in fruit and veg..

OP posts:
BIWI · 02/09/2018 22:09

Don't focus on the scales. Take your measurements instead.

Ilmb · 03/09/2018 07:11

I’ve taken measurements and they’ve not changed at all. I can’t belive I have 40 inch hips!

OP posts:
Standbyyourmammaryglands · 03/09/2018 07:38

Have you tried cutting out dairy ?

Ilmb · 03/09/2018 08:18

Yeah, o hardly have dairy, mainly have oat milk or almond milk and have always used dairy free butter as the dc used to be intolerant

OP posts:
Standbyyourmammaryglands · 03/09/2018 08:22

llmb I’ve just had oak milk in my tea! The Alpro range is very good. The ice creams are lovely ! 😆

Ilmb · 03/09/2018 08:39

Yes it’s wuite nice in tea isn’t it? I feel like crying! Iv just weighed myself and 18 days of between 1000-1200 calories a day and no crap (apart from the ice cream yesterday obv) and Iv put back on the 1lb Iv lost and back to where iv started?!?! I was weighing once a week, so I weighed myself Friday and today just because I wanted to see and I’v out on almost 2lb over the weekend. I don’t see how one splurge of ice cream can do that! I can’t do any more physically and the worse thing is I’m less active than I was over 6 months ago ... I didn’t have a fit bit back then and now I have one I’m much more active and keep moving. I’m beginning to think there’s something wrong with me../

OP posts:
MrPebbles · 07/09/2018 07:30

@Ilmb - I'm in exactly the same situation. I've had a fortnight of being under 1200 calories. A low carb, low calorie. I've been starving hungry 😆

I feel good, look slimmer (obviously just lost my carb bloat) as the scales say I've gained a pound and am 9st 1. Gutted!

I'm at a loss! I'm going to do what another poster suggested and take measurements.

Ilmb · 07/09/2018 07:38

So annoying isn’t it!! I look better as you do, list bloat but not weight and no one has noticed any difference obly me Grin
