Want to interact with others and get support/motivation for getting healthier and active, and in the process losing weight. But I absolutely don't want to hear any "diet culture", calorie counting or unhealthy disordered eating promotion. Surely I can't be the only one? Sometimes it seems like every thread I click on is just full of upsetting, unhelpful comments that sound like they could have been lifted from a thinspo website.

Glad you're sorting it out stop 🌟 A lot of people can be low in B12 without realising, so hopefully that'll help!

All sounds good here folks (except the headaches; bugger them!).

I had a slow delicious sea swim today and although it was only gentle breast stroke working against the tide really felt like a workout. Light on the water and birdsong inland and a tall ship under sail all stately towards the horizon. Absolute gorgeousness!

CantankerousCamel · 19/07/2018 21:30

I’ve just down two intense sports massages

I’m now eating cream cakes and drinking tea in my pants

argumentativefeminist · 19/07/2018 21:33

That sounds so amazing Verbena! Glad you managed to get in the sea. Hope your headaches feel better soon 💕

Camel, I like your style! (Am also drinking tea in my pants, in fact. It’s that kind of a day Grin)

argumentativefeminist · 19/07/2018 21:44

Also currently in my pants 😂 watching eat well for less with an ice cold tropical squash.

Morning all.

I really want ice cream now waves fist at you lot Grin

So the yoga class was cancelled due to lack of attendees but still did legs, bums and tums. Feeling it today mind!

Haven't had any alcohol since Monday which is pretty good going for me and as I have about 6p in the bank till I get paid I might actually manage a full week without a drink, can't say that's happened in a few years Blush

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 08:16

Morning tommy! Hope you get through the week without a drink and enjoy payday! 🌟 glad legs bums and tums went well!

Good morning to the healthiest, happiest and most energised folk on MN. Grin

No exercise planned for me today, but will take a stroll on the beach at lunchtime. My plans for being good to myself today are to continue the fizzy drink embargo I started last week, and to not snack this afternoon.

ElspethFlashman · 20/07/2018 10:28

Morning all. I have decided that my favourite breakfast is definitely porridge. I bought crushed nuts and dessicated coconut yesterday to zhuzz it up. And chocolate nibs for occasional luxury!

And I have a massive salad for lunch with nice things like tiny peppers stuffed with ricotta.

Yesterday I definitely ate less and moved more (can really feel it today!) so I'm feeling good, mentally.

Today I'm at work so no exercise but I walk constantly (nurse) so no big deal.

I am keeping a food diary. I am finding I'm really forgetting everything about even the previous day and definitely can never remember how often I've had wine in the week. My brain needs some back up!

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 10:49

Morning morning Agatha, Elspeth and everyone else!

Agatha - some sea air is exactly what I need right now, stuck inside doing dissertation work. 😩 Rest day for me today, some restorative stretching yoga and maybe a dog walk later depending on how my doggle has recovered from the xrays she's getting today. Fizzy drinks are a hard one but it's definitely worth it!

Elspeth Your breakfast and lunch both sound lush! I've started an exercise diary for the same reason, I forget what I've done this morning let alone yesterday 😂 have a good day at work, thank you for the work you do 💕💕

YouTube fitness videos on the main tv is a genius idea, there are so many to chose from.... haven't done it yet but I'm going to start flicking through now my bouncing around doesn't have to make a dvd jump, just the foundations of my house 😂

Yanbu.

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 11:01

Welcome fiery! My fave are jessicasmithtv but there are loads and loads out there! I feel you on the foundation shaking - yesterday my thighs smacked together so hard in a star jump that I scared the dog 😂😂

Running upstairs naked is a symphony in itself for me, with breasts, belly overhang and thighs all slapping together like a giant misfiring Newton's Cradle made of ham.

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 11:27

Agatha That gave me a full on proper belly laugh. I'm exactly like that too 😂

Doggle is all good and on her way home now 💕 Dissertation work has been swapped for reading recipe books 😂

Absolutely delicious green bean and apricot salad at lunch which is not a combination I had tried before!

Now a thickly cream covered scone to tide me over before my Chinese takeaway 😂 treating myself as spending the weekend visiting family I dont really like in a part of the country that's pretty bleak with my Dad who I also don't particularly like and who's booked a hotel with a wedding party at it 😩😩

I've slid into an awful habit of comparing myself to other women which in my 40s is quite frankly ridiculous! I eat well, do enjoy nice food and occasional wine, do two or three classes a week (combat/circuits type) and we walk/cycle as a family regularly.

I want to get back to being at peace with my body, which is strong and not overweight, but having been taller than average all my life, I've always felt 'bigger'. Need to give myself a firm but fair talking to!

ElspethFlashman · 20/07/2018 18:37

We had oven pizza for dinner. I had two slices. Two!!!!

Can't remember the last time I stopped at two! But I had a think and realised I wasn't starving, just mildly hungry. Two would do it. So I ate what I needed, rather than just mindlessly eating what I normally eat (until I'm stuffed and groaning, basically)

And we had ice reams in the freezer and everyone had one but I decided to hold off. I may have one later, I may not. But its important to me to break the "automatic eating cos everyone else is" thing.

Chances are i'll forget they're there and just have a cup of tea. But if I don't, and I really really still want one later, I'll have one.

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 19:39

Almondio Welcome! Hopefully we can help your break the comparing habit unless you want to compare yourself to us, and I think we're all varying degrees of strange and not quite got our lives together (i.e. normal!) so hopefully that'll make you feel more normal and more confident too 🤞💕

Good work Elspeth! I'm also trying to break the habit of overeating until I'm actually feeling unwell and stuffed. You've encouraged me to have an ice cream though but it depends if have enough space after the Chinese takeaway I've just eaten 😂😂

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 20/07/2018 20:05

I have also stopped eating when full

It’s such an easy habit to eat the whole
Plate and then pick on

I read to stop at 7/10 full up which is a good mantra

I really want a Wine though !

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 20/07/2018 22:11

Elspeth that sounds like a really good approach. Encouraging to hear!

Almondio · 20/07/2018 22:28

Thanks argumentativefeminist, good to find you all! Had a fantastic gym class this evening (brutal but invigorating weights/cardio circuit), and the weekend is walking up hills with the family so plenty of fresh air and exercise on the cards.

The comparing thing is mostly me wondering why my thighs aren't straight up and down like other people, and why they're all petite and cute. I'm 5ft 11 and a 12/14 pear so will never be petite ... mostly I'm happy but some days the confidence just takes a dip.

argumentativefeminist · 20/07/2018 22:40

Good news about your work out Almondio and I hope you have a lovely weekend! Don't worry about your thighs not being straight up and down.... mine don't seperate at all when standing, they're all joined up until my knees 😂 and on the outside edge they're all curved and wobbly - but that's how I like them! I know I look cute as hell and I'm sure you do too 💕

Hey everyone! Super busy day so haven’t checked in.

Ate not great today, missed CrossFit as too much else to do but did do 2 x massages which is quite a work out!

Have managed to book 3 treatments in next week which is awesome as my regular client is away and sometimes that can leave us totally skint.

DD’s first birthday celebration tomorrow so have had a cake made and a few gifts. Excited to see the boys help her open them before work (I’m working two hours tomorrow then two on sunday)

Been watching GLOW on Netflix, has anyone seen it? It’s marvellous!

Verbena87 · 21/07/2018 07:41

Sounds like everyone’s doing well. More sea swimming for me yesterday and plenty of walking. Had a gorgeous salad with green beans, capers, anchovies, olives and boiled egg as well which was especially lovely. Going to try and swim every day while we’re away - cold Atlantic is so invigorating!
