Have you done the low GI or low GL diet?

Can you tell me how you got on and how practical it was to follow?
I've got the gist of it, having read a couple of books, but am wondering how well it actually works for people.
I need to lose quite a bit of weight.

I like the food on those kinds of diets so they’re quite good for me.
I did follow one once and although I felt really good, I didn’t lose much weight. I didn’t count calories and was probably eating too much.
I’d say go for it if you like the type of food on the diet.

Thanks LiveLife.
I do like the food, it seems to suit me better than e.g low carb.
I don't mind losing weight quite slowly but I do need to lose a lot.
I'll have to look into calorie counting alongside it.

I follow it and I am a bit evangelical about it. I used to suffer with grumpiness if I didn't eat, and now I don't get that same feeling. I love most low GL foods so that helps, and I also don't get carb/sugar cravings the same way I used to.

Having said that I haven't lost much weight but I have been doing weight-bearing and cardio exercise so I have toned up a lot and dropped four dress sizes. Someone advised me to use a tape measure rather than scales and that has made sense to me. My waist has lost four inches.

Reading between the lines and from anecdata I think the low GL diet suits the type of person who is grumpy when they don't eat.

I'm definitely grumpy when I don't eat and have been planning to eat 3 small meals and a couple of snacks each day to help.
Four dress sizes is amazing, well done!

We're just moving this over to weight loss chat at the OP's request.

I have done it and it is my 'go to' diet for weight loss. Super healthy. Effective if you stick to it properly - I did the traffic light one and only ate green, no calorie counting and lost steadily.
