1200 calorie month

Singingtherapy · 11/03/2018 22:45

I've lost a stone really slowly but haven't lost anything for a while and need a boost. I can't sustain 1200 calories a day for that long but reckon I can do a month if I put my mind to it. 28 days. 1200 calories. Every. Single. Day. Anyone up for it?

That should read 'a small measured glass of OJ, water only during the day and a measured glass of squash only once.'

Singingtherapy · 14/03/2018 16:31

Day 3 going well for me as well. Had yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast and soup for lunch with a small roll. 'Woofy' your day sounds barely 500 calories! You can have a cream cake later!

Day 4 going ok. I CAN DO THIS! Grin

Right -Day 4 so far so good. This is so helpful in keeping myself accountable and tracking what I am having.

Just coming up to the 4pm danger zone - gallon of green tea may be in order.

B: Coffee & Skimmed milk
L: Butternut squash soup, roast Chicken pieces.
S: Apple
D: Chili, Rice & Salad

Yesterday's total was 1032, ended up with Chicken & baked sweet potato, then had some cake off cuts from a birthday cake I'm making. Sooo tempting to keep 'testing' the buttercream!

Singingtherapy You can do this! & I did have cake! Smile

ShortandAnnoying · 15/03/2018 16:06

Well done so far. I think if you keep it up all month it will get easier.

mrspapalazarou · 15/03/2018 16:21

Just wanted to say well done everyone here, I'm a big fan of calorie counting, 1200 is tough but personally, it's the only way I've ever been able to lose a decent amount of weight. I've used the MyFitnessPal app before to count calories and really helped me to keep to 1200 per day. Used to split it around 250 for breakfast, 350 for lunch, 500 for dinner and 100 for snacks. If I did any exercise, the app increased my calorie allowance. Not long had 2nd child so when things settle hopefully I can get back on it Grin

MrsFezziwig · 15/03/2018 16:25

Can I join? Would like to lose 10kg, input this on MFP as 1kg a week and it allocated me 1200 calories - must have been meant to be!
I think 1kg per week may be going it a bit, but I’d like to try for it at least until the middle of May as I have an event to aim for - don’t mind if I go a bit more slowly after that.
A potential spanner in the works is that I may be away for a week soon which will involve vastly increased amounts of eating and drinking, and limited opportunity to count calories accurately.

MrsFezziwig · 15/03/2018 16:27

mrsp I had forgotten that MFP increases your calories if you exercise! Grin

Singingtherapy · 15/03/2018 17:01

Welcome Mrsf. I've felt a bit deprived today but it actually made me realise that ive lost sight of what normal eating is. I had Greek yoghurt with lots of raspberries and a sprinking of granola for breakfast and a big sandwich - granary bread, Quorn chicken, cucumber and mayo and 3 clementines for lunch. Fgs that's what normal people eat! It just feels tragic to not be allowed 4 chocolate digestives with my coffee Grin

redtulip12 · 15/03/2018 18:26

I have eaten badly today.
Breakfast - cup of mint tea
Lunch - 2 eggs and 2 rich tea
Snack - 15g popcorn
Dinner - homemade spag Bol (290cal) on cauliflower rice. Glass wine
Still under 1200 so will probably have something naughty later.
Drinks all mint tea or black coffee
Took dog on long walk so burned off 290 calories but not counting these.

Singingtherapy · 16/03/2018 08:44

That's not too bad red. Right then, I'm going out for dinner tonight. It's a pub we go to a lot and I know the menu. I reckon a healthy main, pudding and a small glass of wine will be around 1000 calories. So my daytime food is going to be shit loads of veg nibbled throughout the day to avoid hunger. Just been to tesco and bought a large pack of celery, 300g cherry tomatoes and 150g of baby corn. Sound like a plan?

WhenDoISleep · 16/03/2018 09:16

Sounds like a good (and colourful) plan for the day singing. I know what you mean about resetting portion sizes etc. I don't really eat crisps or biscuits, it's sweets and chocolate and too big portions that are my issue.

Day five here - still feeling strong about this. I have been just on 1200 for the last few days. I'm planning the weekend, as that's when it normally goes to pot for me as I tend to cook big family meals, whereas in the week it is more quick teas with the DC due to activities. Saturday is ok food wise, Sunday is a little more flexible as it will depend what we end up doing.

Woofygoldberg · 16/03/2018 15:17

Day 5 in the Big Brother diet house.....Feeling motivated today-1112 Cals yesterday, but no gym.

Cutting out bread again has really helped with the carb cravings.

Plan for today
B:Coffee Skimmed milk
L: M&S Super Green soup, portion of chicken
D: Fish Pie loads of mixed veg. fruit.

Just need to get a plan in place for tomorrow as having day out & lunch with a group of friends & haven't been able to see the menu (but I know this place does the most amazing burgers). then we normally have coffee and cake later in the afternoon.

Not going to drink which helps on both cals and willpower but temptation will be there & you feel like kill joy!!!!

ihatethecold · 16/03/2018 21:13

Can I join?
I’m using mfp and having approx 1200 cals per day.
I eat 3 egg omelettes for breakfast.
It really keeps me full till early pm.
I do walk 10,000 steps per day
I am feeling tired today. The afternoon dog walk nearly finished me off
I am finding I’m eating so much better.

Singingtherapy · 16/03/2018 21:57

Welcome Ihate. My plan worked fine and didn't feel too bad. 200 cals of raw veg nibbled throughout the day. Then pub dinner was veggie burger and salad followed by lemon tart and a small glass of red. Definitely in the region of 1000. Decided I'm not going to weigh myself until the end of the 28 days. Hoping for 10lb off

I know I won't eat again tonight so day 5 is done. And now the weekend's here, let's do it!

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 17/03/2018 10:11

I had 2 heck chicken sausages and 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast. that was 250 cals BUT..... I was hungry an hour later so I've had 2 slices of toast, Had a craving so I figured as long as I log it I can have it.
Ive actually now had 517 cals today.
Ive been very good all week and avoided any bread, pasta, rice. so i'm allowed to indulge a little on 2 bits of toast.

Singingtherapy · 17/03/2018 13:35

A bit of toast is fine. I like calorie counting rather than cutting anything out. I feel less deprived knowing I can eat what I fancy, just smaller quantities

First week done!!! How's everyone doing?

OP posts:
CauliflowerBalti · 18/03/2018 21:34

Be careful... I did 600 calories a day for 2 months. Wedding diet - obviously. Put it all back on really quickly. Utter insanity.

When I have the energy to go again, sloooow and steady.

Woofygoldberg · 19/03/2018 11:36

Well I'm back after the weekend & what a disaster! Blush

Friday I was amazing, 1276 Cals and 7km run, Gear Fit even said I had balanced my macro nutrients.......well then it all went down hill.

Saturday = 2537 Cals- mostly Gin cocktails & Wine boozy lunch out.
Sunday=1941 Cals- mostly hangover fry up, pecan pie & birthday cake.

I'm seeing it as 2 days out of 7 & I had a good time. (clutching at straws)

Committed & back to it from today, I have my gym kit for after work, and have meal planned Lunch and Dinner for the week.

ihatethecold · 19/03/2018 11:47

Don't worry Woofy
My weekend went to pot but I really had a great time and today im back on it. Don't beat yourself up. 5 out of 7 days is ok

Singingtherapy · 19/03/2018 12:46

Ha sounds fun though Woofy! I know what you mean Cauliflower, but planning on slowly increasing calories to around 1500 after a month. Healthy so far today. Breakfast was wheatabix with skimmed milk and lots of berries. Lunch is a spinach omelette and 2 slices of granary bread.
