Thanks Sally - am feeling very proud of myself as I haven't been able to stick to anything for ages. In fact the last time I managed to stick to anything it was Atkins 3 years ago and I lost 2 stone. Put it back on plus an extra one! Have tried WW, SW, GI, etc etc etc.

Think I have finally learned my lesson that low carb is the best way for me.

Your prawn and avocado salad sounds yummy. Can't get nice prawns too easily here in Budapest. Needs a special trip into town but I may do it next week and stock up on some fish.

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

3.3 kilos gone which is officially over half a stone!!!!

Although drank quite a bit of wine last night - am feeling it this morning!

Sally isn't it sad when crispbreads are a treat/sin? What have our lives come to.

Do you like macadamia nuts? When I did Atkins before I was told they are the best nuts to have - could you try keeping them for when you get your late night cravings. There is also a supplement you can get to help with the cravings - I THINK it was L-carnitine - I will check. The other thing to remember is that if you can avoid all the carbs for 3 days you will get rid of the cravings.

OrmIrian · 29/04/2007 11:43

Yep L-carnative but also enzyme Q10. Macadamia are good but I don't like them. Brazils are almost as good - as low in carbs but not as high in fat I think.

Well had a a total NON Atkins day yesterday. Woke up with bad cramps due to TOTM and just wanted carbs - also was a bit hungover as had too much wine the night before. I think the wine is causing the cravings too.

Anyway - were having some friends over for a BBQ yesterday so decided to have a full day off. Am back on plan today though.

Haven't weighed myself - will do it tomorrow!

how many carbs in a teaspoon of sugar?
anyone knnow?

stitch · 01/05/2007 11:10

ouch!
just googled it. one teaspoon ,is five grams of carbs. depending on how loaded itis. and there i was thinking i had been soooo good yesterday. [dsis made me a coffee, but didnt know i no longer took sugar, and i rather naughtily didnt enlighten her. after all, it would be rude to refuse to drink it when she had prepared it so loving ly.

OrmIrian · 01/05/2007 18:22

OK. I guess I'm in ketosis. I don't want to eat at all. Which I guess is good in a way but I like food and it's sad to have something I love removed from my life . I think it's partly the result of ketosis and partly that I don't acutally enjoy the food that I can eat that much. Feeling that horrid tiredness but I know it will pass. But DH and I have decided that once he's finished 2 weeks he's going to add low GI carbs back in - no good going all weak and woolly when you're up on scaffolding

I really want to capitalise on this and go running but still hobbling around like an old woman....

OrmIrian · 01/05/2007 18:22

Oops stitch - sugar is carbohydrate par excellence with no redeeming features... . Still don't think that one tsp will do too much harm

brimfull · 01/05/2007 18:26

I'm finally in ketosis, omiran,I always feel much better when in ketosis, have much more energy and lack of carb cravings.
Still need to get the weight loss going though, but hopefully will be easier now I'm not hungry.

stitch · 01/05/2007 18:58

oi, its a trade off though isnt it? id rather spend five grams of carbs on something a bit more filling than sweet coffee.
ive had loads of fruit toadya, much more satisfying.
