Hi,

Wow! Lots of advice, thank you all so much!!.

Sincere apologies for the late response. Its difficult to reply to each of you on your significant points, but I will try when I have more time (and not at work) Wink

One the face of it though, your advice is to Count the calories more accurately and maybe Step up the training to more calorific burn sessions.

Ill read in more detail tonight.

Charimito great post, thanks!
I've lost 3 stone and kept it off for 2 years.
It really was simple once I got the right mindset and did a bit of research (MN is a mine of info).
Simply put
Eat only when hungry, stop when full.
After decades of stuffing my face mindlessly it was difficult to recognise these feelings!
Learn about sleep, grehlin, leptin, insulin, cortisol...all play really important roles in weight management.
Calories are not equal! In the simplest terms your body uses more calories to process a calorie of fat than a calorie of sugar. You cannot absorb all of the fat unlike sugar.
Diet drinks/ food/sweeteners can cause an insulin spike because your taste buds tell your body that sugar is on the way...
Smoothies/juices break down the fibre so releasing the sugars faster than if you just ate straight veg and fruit.
The psychological aspect of eating is very powerful.
I was a very fat child, my parents both served in WW2 and never quite got over rationing and shortages, so we had to finish everything put in front of us. Sweets were used as bribery.
So even as an adult not only did I see sweet stuff as a real "prize" , I couldn't eat one without having something savoury first!
I did try MFP for a while, but there were so many variations of calories for the same foods (ie beans on toast with butter was x calories, but toast was xy calories, beans xyz calories) that it just became very confusing.
Also made me obsessive about food, ie 300 calories left at the end of the day? Best eat them even though I'm not hungry!
