Lighter Life/Cambridge Diet

Hi

I'd be interested in anyones expereince of this diet or the Cambridge Diet as I understand they're similar. I have LOADS of weight to lose (about 7 stone!!!) and am getting nowhere with WW as I just don't seem to be motivated. I wondered if maybe a "quick loss" diet may be more effective?

How do people get on with it and what exactly is it? Am I right in thinking it is no food at all - and doesn't that mean that when you start eating again the weight just goes back on? My DP is very against it, but I think it may be the answer. Also, how do you find it when you're still having to prepare food for the family?

Any help and hopefully success (or failure!) stories would be very much appreciated.

Thank you anyone.

Yorkiegirl - I started LL 2 weeks ago - seconf weigh in tonight. Did you have problems keeping motivated?

mummycan · 12/03/2007 15:52

Fantastic weight loss BTW yorkiegirl - are you exercising as well?

BigFatMummy · 12/03/2007 19:42

Been looking at the Lighter Life and Cambridge Diet threads with interest as seriously considering attemptin one of these. Have a couple of questions for anyone who can help though - is it really hard (hunger) wise to follow, and is there anyone out there who has los the weight and kept it off! Am a bit worried at how easily it may go back on again after really...
Thanks.

my dh lost 4 stones on LL and has so far kept it off after 3 months. Apparently it is easier for blokes though.

Wow, Yorkiegirl, that's fantastic, well done!

Good luck with your weigh in tonight Mummycan - let us know how you do.

Interesting that it's easier for men though. But good too hear that he's kept it off for all that time Eeek, DH must be very pleased.

That is a big concern though, I'd be gutted if I put it all back on again - and DP would be so "I told you so" that I'd be and !!!

Anybody else got any experiences? I'll have a look at that link as well, thanks.

I've lost 43lbs in 8 weeks doing Cambridge. I've still got a lot to go, but i'm confident I can do it having got this far.

Like Yorkie said, you have to be committed to the diet, the first few weeks are hard, not because of physical hunger, but because of emotional hunger. I found (and still sometimes find) it hard to cope with some situations by not stuffing my face. I used to comfort eat a lot.

People will tell you that as soon as you eat you'll put all the weight back on. That's only true if you go back to eating the way you did before, and would be true of any diet, you have to change your habits as well as your weight.

They are both good diets, and work if you stick to them. I'm really, really pleased i've done it, i'm 3 stone lighter than I was 8 weeks ago and I feel great.

I've been doing cambridge diet and have lost 33 lb in total.
Must be almost 8 weeks as i started at around the same time as bendigoblue.

I've had a few us and downs but the weight has stayed off so far, and i'm not paying all this money to put weight back on again!!!

Well done Yorkiegirl you've had a brilliant loss so far.
You must feel great and i bet your girls are proud of their mummy.

bendigoblue · 13/03/2007 15:24

You started the week before me Fussymummy, just been looking back through the old threads, you started on friday the 5th Jan, I started the following wednesday 10th, you helped me through the first few days with your advice! Can you believe we've been at this 9 weeks already!!!!! We've lost so much weight between us too.

It is good to have a diet buddy Yorkie , expecially one to sit in the corner with while our friends enjoy your yummy homemade curry!!!!

fussymummy · 14/03/2007 12:21

Thanks for that bendigoblue i couldn't remember what date i'd started!

We really have done well though haven't we?

As have lots of other people on here.

It seems to go really quiet on here at times.

Hope everyone is coping ok? And not getting too full up on all their shakes and bars!!!!!

mummycan · 14/03/2007 23:31

I'd lost 2.8 lbs so that makes 9lbs in two weeks. Some of the group lost more than that in a week but I'm not going to get downhearted as I haven't cheated so it must come off eventually.

Do get a bit constipated though.

Sorry to butt in ..

For the £30 a week , what do you get ?

Am interested in this but the cost is the issue .
thanks

mummycan · 15/03/2007 09:37

Ideally I'd like to lose about 4.5 stone but not sure that is realistic. Does drinking more water really help - I struggle trying to get through 4 litres.

Thanks YorkieGirl - will try to update my water intake tomorrow - unfortunately I am already getting up 2 or 3 times a night to wee - it's like being pregnant!
