Sugar free February

Hello.

I have seen that there is a thread about sugar free January and I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me for a sugar free February?

I am really good all day and then at five o'clock something happens and I turn into the Cookie Monster and am forced to eat as much as I can as quickly as I can...this evening alone I have eaten one cupcake, two scones and a slice of cake...seriously what is wrong with me!?!?

I am not sure whether it should be carbs or just sugary treats etc...I think carbs may be a step too far.
So my plan is to give this a whirl...please join me for some moral support.

Hi I'd like to join please! I am terrible for evening eating - chocolate and biscuits especially 😳. I could do with losing a stone or two and getting rid of my belly fat.
I started yesterday and so far so good. Until now. Haven't had my dinner yet but am already craving something sweet!!! Heeeeellllpppp!

twostonetolose · 02/02/2017 18:30

Welcome fudge.

pleased you can join us. Will fruit hit the spot? Or can you just go to bed really early so you don't succumb to temptation?!? No other ideas because I am useless at this!!!

fudge - I've been drinking water every time I crave something sweet, and maybe a grape or two along with that. Would that cut it?

pasanda · 02/02/2017 18:36

Also, can you try just not buying it in the first place? If it's not in the house then you just can't eat it! I did this last year with crisps. Never buy them now and nobody misses them at all.

Buttwing · 02/02/2017 18:39

Nuts really help me when I'm craving something sweet. My favourite "dessert" at the mo is Greek yogurt with mango, I sprinkle a few walnuts crushed up and a drizzle of agave nectar on the top it's really nice.

B-coffee
L-ham and salad bits with olives and pickles
S-see above!
D-chicken casserole with tenderstem, asparagus and kale.

AFingerofFudge · 02/02/2017 19:12

Have got various tactics lined up for evenings: cup of tea (no sugar) salted popcorn (if desperate) apples, pears, or the brushing your teeth trick. But yes I do need to drink more water too!

SerialReJoiner · 02/02/2017 19:21

I have licorice tea (herbal) that is surprisingly sweet that helps me with cravings. Also yes to not having it in the house, and another thing that helps me is to consider how I'd feel after an indulgence. Am I usually satiated, or will I just want more (and more and more...)? The answer is usually the latter.

Hi everyone! A good day for me today, I have been sugar free since January but thought I'd join to help with food inspiration and get some myself!

Breakfast was porridge made with whole milk and some Greek yoghurt with berries mixed in. I use full fat yoghurt and the creaminess takes away any tartness of the berries.

Lunch was a mix of things from the fridge, bit of cold meat, falafels, hummus and loads of veg

I snacked on some strawberries and a piece of cheese

Dinner was pork burger in a bun with homemade coleslaw and corn on the cob

I ate dinner at 5pm and I'm now sat in bed thinking I'm really hungry! Brushed my teeth already though so it will have to wait until the morning...

twostonetolose · 03/02/2017 06:30

Ok day 3!!!! 26 more days (including today) to go!!! We can do this!!!!

Hi zoo. Of course all are welcome. Sorry to hear about the anxiety, do you think it is related to your sugar intake?

BlueSofaPinkLamp · 03/02/2017 07:34

Welcome zoo Smile

I feel much less anxious when not eating sugar, I'm sure you will feel significantly better when you cut it out!

twostonetolose · 03/02/2017 07:38

That is really interesting bluesofa I definitely have some anxiety issues...looking forward to see if it makes any difference to me.

Apples and peanut butter is a favourite snack of mine. I love the Aldi no-added-sugar PB. It's creamy and a bit salty and delicious. Mmm.

SerialReJoiner · 03/02/2017 09:21

Sorry that comment came out of nowhere! I'm just planning ahead for today, haha

user1485196412 · 03/02/2017 09:34

Thinking of you Twostone! I think they refer to be on the safe side so hopefully they're just being super careful.
Yesterday I had porridge and half a slice of toast shared with baby for breakfast
Snack: one ryvita with cream cheese
Lunch: egg sandwich with a few bits of cucumber pepper etc
Snack : 2 falafel, guacamole and strips of red pepper (was amazing!!! Went food shopping and raided the protein snacks!)
When toddler was having tea: slice of cold chicken and a rice cake
Dinner : lasagna with a big portion of salad

So far today : porridge, going to have a snack in a minute.... (Been up since 5!)

Dawsonforehead · 03/02/2017 15:15

Hi can I please join? This is exactly the thread I'm looking for. Been chocolate/biscuit/cake free all week so far. But today had a tidal wave of tiredness, couldn't figure out why until I realised my body actually has to get used to the change. Anyone else had this tiredness? I felt great up to today!

punkpuffin · 03/02/2017 16:01

Can I join? I've been trying to lose weight for ages. I do well for a while and then I binge and put all the weight back on.
I've been looking at things and every thing seems to have sugar added. Where is every one drawing the line?

Mooey89 · 03/02/2017 19:22

Was craving sugar so badly...
I just had 2 TBSP of baked beans (50%reduced sugar) on my Jacket potato!
Now I feel guilt ridden!

SerialReJoiner · 03/02/2017 19:57

I have had the most success going gradually with cutting this game out - the obvious stuff first, then eventually taking away the packets and sauces and such with sugar. It takes a lot of mental stamina to stay away from ALL sugar added, since it really is in nearly everything (mustard!!).

SerialReJoiner · 03/02/2017 19:57

Not this game, things! Confused

twostonetolose · 03/02/2017 20:04

Have you cut bread and pasta etc and /or fruit rejoiner? Sorry you may have already answered that. How many weeks did you do of the obvious stuff before adding in the next set of things? And really mustard!?!?!
