Went to SW and had a massive shock. I was more than I thought, a lot more.
Anyone want to be a buddy for a very long weight loss journey?
I'm guessing my BMI is late 40s. Blush
Disgusted with myself.

5 stone to lose, currently 26 weeks pregnant so the whole "diet" is on hold. However just trying to eat the right things!
Once baby wynter arrives, I will be planning to lose the whole weight by his 1st birthday

Mooey89 · 05/01/2017 11:13

Lost 2.5lb last night at weigh in an leader text me to say I got slimmer of the week! Don't know how I managed it as I've been living off ice cream! How is everyone doing? When is your first weigh in?

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/01/2017 11:17

I need to lose several stone. I joined SW last Feb and lost 2 stone by July, but then just messed around losing and gaining and getting nowhere. I've kept going but getting nowhere. I missed weigh in last night as I've eaten way too much crap over Christmas :(

I do really want to do this but I just seem to want to eat all the time.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/01/2017 11:51

I weigh something in the region of 20 stone, so I need to lose at least 10 stone.

My problem is that my weight has made me quite immobile - I can't walk far because my knees, ankles and back hurt, and I get lightheaded and breathless - so exercise is difficult. Plus I am depressed and struggle to motivate myself.

I am planning to make small changes in different areas, in the hopes of gradually making my life more healthy. I have a friend who is a personal trainer, who is going to help me with some exercises I can do at home - so I will have no excuse - and I am going to revamp our meals, so they are healthier. I'm going to cut down on sugar and snacks too.

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/01/2017 12:10

I'm having SW overnight oats for breakfast every morning and that does fill me up til lunchtime, then a pasta Mug Shot for lunch, along with fruit and baby bels . It's the evenings I really struggle with, finding enough time to cook/eat a proper meal.

MargoChanning · 05/01/2017 12:11

I'm 5ft 5 and this morning I weight 19st. This is the heaviest i have ever been.

I have to lose 4 stone to get to 15stone, which would mean i can do a new course of IVF. I have a frozen embryo i want to have implanted. The only thing stopping me is my weight. If i can lose 2 pounds a week, i will be 15st in late July and can start treatment shortly afterwards.

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago and started my diet today. Eek!

sofato5miles · 05/01/2017 12:23

A proper meal is easy to prepare, honestly. There are excellent recipes out there to help. Keep an eye on portion size though.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/01/2017 12:26

Would it be helpful if we shared recipes? I plan the meals for each week, when I am doing the shopping list, and my mind goes a complete blank when I try to think of things to make. I think I need a list of main meals, divided into healthy, fairly healthy and indulgent, so I can pick my meals from the healthy and fairly healthy, and have the indulgent for the odd occasion - but I am struggling to think of/find new, healthy meals, to add to the list.

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/01/2017 12:53

My problem is I'm a very fussy eater and I get fed up with eating the same food all the time, plus I can't be bothered to cook meals just for myself, it's often gone 8pm before I get chance to start food, then it's 9pm before it's ready, which is too late so then I end up grabbing a sandwich and picking at stuff.

hefzi · 05/01/2017 13:19

SDT I hear you, sister! I get out of puff now tying my shoelaces Blush I am (guessing) around 22-23 stone now: I added Mirtazapine to my other meds and gained 5 stone in 6 weeks-despite the fact it doesn't harm your metabolism Blush So now I'm immobile, even fatter and it feels like an even further distance to get too Sad I'd be happy right now at 14 stone, but look good at 11 and a half: so I'm just going to concentrate on trying to chip away a pound at a time, and accept this will be a long haul...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/01/2017 13:49

Hefzi - I'm on mirtazipine too - it helps me sleep at night (I was really struggling with insomnia) - I just hope it doesn't make my weight issues even worse.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/01/2017 18:12

brighteyes; it's horrible finally realising, I'm the same I've been oblivious in denial about my weight. My first target is 15st then will go from there. To be in a healthy BMI I need to be 12st but find that's unrealistic and haven't weighed that since I was 12!

wynter; congratulations on the pregnancy! Good goal to have, I wish I ate sensibly post dc.

Mooey; that's fantastic well done! My first weigh in is on Mon, I've self sabotaged this morning by binge eating 6 of the SW bars (so 18 syns!) but no more syns today.

pinkunicorn well done on the previous 2 st - it shows you can do it :) I'm so fussy too. Don't like fruit veg or food with smells/textures Blush

SDT same here, ideally I'd like to be 11st but setting smaller targets so I don't get overwhelmed. I'm quite immobile due to rheumatoid arthritis and lupus but my weight doesn't help! That's good your friend will help :) good idea re sharing recipes too.

Margo well done on the stopping smoking! Must be hard, then to add dieting in the mix. Ivf is a good motivation.

Hefzi another mirtazipine user here, not that it helps much personally Blush

I'm sure if you are determined to that you'll lose the weight. But half the battle of these slimming clubs is that people forget you'll have more success by exercising. I lost 2 st last year with exercise alone. And I'll be honest, I ate whatever I wanted. If you can find a good balance between your diet and movement then you'll win and see the weight fall off. Good luck!!

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/01/2017 18:38

Icant I don't like texture food like mincemeat, only eat really lean meat, never any fat. I hate all veg except for carrots and peas and I hate salad. So it means that my meals are very limited, even when I do have time to cook something. It's 6.30pm now and I am going to go and throw some potatoes and carrots in the oven. Only have chicken slices left in the fridge, so will microwave them to go with it, so a totally free meal, but will have to syn the gravy I have with .

I am on beta blockers now too, so not sure how they will affect weight loss, but they are making me feel calmer about everything somehow!

wishing4sun · 05/01/2017 18:41

I started sw today and to be in the healthy range I should lose 7stone,
I've just made my dinner and have had to double check everything as can't believe how much can eat.

Flumplet · 05/01/2017 18:56

Cop a load of this then!! Just where does one bloody start???

So ashamed of my weight. Anyone got 7st + to lose?
Mooey89 · 05/01/2017 20:41

flump
One step at a time.

I'm starting with focusing on losing 10% of my body weight - so will need to be 16.10. I've lost 10lbs so far since beginning of Dec so about 1stone 4lbs from that target but feels less intimidating than my overall target of 6stone!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/01/2017 21:23

After starting on mon I decided to weigh tonight, I've put ON weight. I feel like giving up now. This sucks.
I normally lose 8-10lbs in the first week.
My partner is 10st, I'm double his weight at 21st 7 now. I was 15st when we met.
I feel like giving up.
Sorry for the self absorbed rant :(
I'll be back positive tomorrow

For anyone home late or who doesn't have time to cook. Just do something simple.

For example:
-Scrambled eggs and an avocado
-Mixed filling salad like Beetroot, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, spring onions - add grilled hallomi (hallomi can cook whilst you chop other bits)
-2 poached eggs on some smoked salmon or ham and raw spinach.

early30smum · 05/01/2017 23:16

Me. I am doing cambridge. Had lots of success last year dropping nearly 5 stone but December off meant almost 2 stone back on so am back on it. Need to lose at least 4 stone if not 5.

Flumplet · 05/01/2017 23:50

I started slim & save (similar to Cambridge) this week. I'm struggling. I lost 3st in 11 weeks doing Cambridge a couple years ago, and here I am again 3 st heavier than what I was when I started last time. Sad

Right, anyway, I'm on it, this time next year I'll be somewhere near acceptable!

Mooey89 · 06/01/2017 07:59

Oh Icant please don't be disheartened.
Have you kept a food diary? Are you doing slimming world did you say? Are you going to a group? I find that really helps me to focus.
Can you do a meal plan for this week?
You can do this. You can!!!!! Xx

MargoChanning · 06/01/2017 09:16

Dont give up OP! We are all here to support you x

putthespoondown · 06/01/2017 10:43

Definitely don't give up OP, the first couple of weeks are so hard. I find coming off the sugar high particularly tricky(serious chocoholic over here!). I also always put on between 2-4lbs when AF rears her ugly head. Don't be disheartened you can do it, just take it one step at a time.x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 06/01/2017 11:54

Thank you for your lovely replies, I didn't help myself weighing at night when weigh-in is in the morning. I've a few more days to go so going to stick to plan 100%.
My nan is hosting a family roast dinner Sunday for my birthday, she cooks everything in oil/lots of butter etc and she's a feeder who won't take no for an answer! I'm dreading it, esp day before weigh in!
Thank you all again xx
