Louise Parker Method - Lean for Lifers Support Thread

Anyone following the Louise Parker Method?

I am restarting the transform phase again from next week and could really do with some support to get me through the 6 weeks!

I managed three weeks in November but gave up due to Christmas drinking and eating. I feel more motivated this time and felt great when I followed it properly. I love the food too but found it too easy to slip into bad habits.

Please share your stories (good and bad!) and hopefully we can support each other through the journey.

Ok, weigh in time.

I'm 11st6 today. This is annoying because I was under 11'5 throughout Xmas and NY (lowest point 11'2 in mid Dec). But my head is properly in the zone now and I'm sure I'll start to see progress this week.

One slight obstacle in that it's my dds 12th bday tomorrow (celebrating tonight as DH away the rest of the week) and she already has a bee in her bonnet about January bdays being rubbish and overlooked so I'll have to have cake. One slice though, and its homemade. That aside I'll eat to plan all week.

Wrt exercise, I find the exercises in the book make a huge difference to my mindset and also my body. I don't even have to put sports bra/trainers on and just take 20 mins most nights. My legs and tummy in particular benefitted hugely when I was doing the plan before and I'm sure it's helped me to stay slimmer when eating a bit more over Xmas - my weight went up 5lbs but I've only gained half an inch per measurement. I really would recommend doing them if people can be bothered.

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 09/01/2017 07:48

Just weighed myself. I'm 10st 7 which means I've lost 2 pounds. Pleased with that considering I didn't have a perfect week with food. Exercise has been good - I've completed week 1 of Davina's 5 week fit. Steps have been rubbish though - average around 3,500 - I'll start logging steps and exercise here too each day.

Walrus - you probably know from before but I would imagine one week in is too early to see any real change. Great that you're in the zone Smile I'm getting there ...

Here is my breakfast for today - apple, cinnamon and walnut bircher:

10 stone 2-and-three quarters here, so 1.25 lb off. Happy with that!

Did my 30 minute workout at 6 this morning

Will struggle to do my 10k as back at work but will try and take a lunchtime stroll and then go out again tonight when the kids are in bed.

Breakfast was raspberries and cinnamon Bircher; lunch is going to be roast veg soup and mixed bean salad with feta; and dinner will be chicken and veg curry bowl (no rice or nan). For snacks i'm planning on having an apple with 20 almonds and a green smoothie when I get home.

Feeling motivated to do this!!!

MrsDesperado · 09/01/2017 10:33

walrus thats good to hear about the exercuses. Tbh I don't feel terribly inspired when I look at them but maybe I should give them more attention. Should just 15 try minutes in the evening on the days I don't do my "proper" workout - I shall give it ago this week and will report back!

tomatoplantproject · 09/01/2017 16:59

So weigh in this morning and .... 5 lb!!!!! GrinGrinGrin

Thats the Christmas bloat gone.

Other than a couple of glasses of fizz on Saturday I have been religious about following the diet, trying to up my steps etc.

Well done everyone else!!

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 09/01/2017 17:31

tomatoplantproject · 09/01/2017 19:05

Polishes halo Halo drinks celebratory glass of wine Wine passes out drunk and has a full english fry up to get over hangover culminating in 5 lb weight gain and back to square one!!

MrsDesperado · 09/01/2017 19:53

tomato Grin

walruswhiskers · 10/01/2017 10:24

Well done tomato!

Sneaky weigh in this morning and I've now dropped to 11st5 so feeling better. More energy etc as well - it does work.

MrsDesperado · 10/01/2017 10:32

Well done walrus! You'll be center parcs ready in no time!

Today's menu includes a slice of wholemeal toast with 1/2 avocado, chilli flakes and a hard boiled egg; lunch is the same soup as yesterday with a 2-egg veggie frittata; snack will be an apple with 20 almonds (again!) and for dinner we have some smoked mackerel that needs eating up so I'm going to make it into a dip using creme fraiche and soft cheese and serve it with veggie crudités. Will try and resist the pitta bread! Not sure what other shack I will have - all mine seem to involve either whole almonds, almond butter or yoghurt.

What's everyone else eating today?

DesertIslandPenguin · 10/01/2017 11:44

Well done tomato! I weighed at the gym this morning and I've lost 5lb in 6 days. Really pleased with myself!

My workouts are going to be a bit limited for a while, I think. Saw a chiropractor yesterday and my spine is badly twisted in two places. Hoping health insurance will cover the first few treatments as I fear I will be making her rich!

Food today will be Good morning smoothie, bejewelled pitta, best bistro salad, and some sort of chicken thing for dinner.

DesertIslandPenguin · 10/01/2017 11:46

Well done, walrus, too! Very hard to reply to everyone using the app unless I'm missing a trick?

MrsDesperado · 10/01/2017 12:56

Well done Desert! You can be star if the week along with tomato Star

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope your insurance covers your treatment and you feel better soon Flowers

DesertIslandPenguin · 10/01/2017 14:51

Thank-you, MrsD! I can still do say to day stuff which is good since DH is away all week, I'm just really conscious of it. Didn't have any pain until the problem was pointed out and now I can't stop noticing it 🙄

Made Mexican Chicken for dinner, will serve with a pack of cauliflower rice. Debating whether to add in some kidney beans.

MrsDesperado · 10/01/2017 20:20

Aww sorry she's made you aware of it Desert! What's the Mexican chicken recipe you're using?

I have finished today on 8992 steps but I did go for a 3.5 mile run which wasn't included in that so I'm going to let myself off. Day 2 of no booze for me.

How's everyone else's week going?

DesertIslandPenguin · 10/01/2017 20:28

Well done on getting out for a run, MrsD! The Mexican chicken stew was adapted from this recipe: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/531628/mexican-chicken-stew I doubled the chipotle, added a heaped tsp of chilli blend and tossed in a chopped pepper.

MrsDesperado · 10/01/2017 21:30

Oh yes of course, I remember now!! Blush

tomatoplantproject · 10/01/2017 23:08

I have fallen off the wagon a bit this evening with a wagamamas. It was yum though!

Well done on the running MrsD, and that recipe looks good. I'm a bit scared of going too much off plan to begin with.

MrsDesperado · 11/01/2017 07:21

Simply step back in the circle tomato and carry on, have no regrets!

tomatoplantproject · 11/01/2017 19:09

Today I am back in the circle! I have just spent hours prepping food. The one thing that is going to make me crack is the time and money that I am spending, rather than the ability to stick to the change in what I am eating (if that makes sense).

Having said that I made 4 portions of the salvation stew and with a couple of portions of the chicken and chorizo in the freezer I do now have a little stash of food.

At some point I think I might need to buy the book because already I have found some recipes I like and am endlessly repeating them (looking at the strawberry bircher, and almond/peanut butter with oatcakes/ryvita, and cinnamon nuts with an apple).

Writing this down I realise that I should probably start investigating the smoothie recipes. How long do smoothies keep for once made? Can I make them in advance or do I need to do them at the time?

DesertIslandPenguin · 11/01/2017 19:42

Tomato the cookbook is 99p on kindle just now...

Never kept a smoothie, I'd imagine that it would separate out a bit.

tomatoplantproject · 11/01/2017 21:27

Ooh good tip thank you.

DesertIslandPenguin · 11/01/2017 21:55

The broccoli, butterbean and pistachio soup is brilliant. I added some ham hock to my bowl and I'll definitely do it again. I could only get one leek so topped up the alliums with some frozen onions 👍

MrsDesperado · 12/01/2017 20:55

I've fallen out of the inner circle, somewhat. Crisps and wine are being consumed; leftover pizza crusts from the kids dinner have been gobbled up. I'm feeling rubbish; it's the start of my period. If I prepare myself a raspberry & vanilla Bircher for tomorrow's stepping-back-into-the-inner-circle breakfast, will all be forgiven? Blush
