Anyone else trying to lose weight whilst breast-feeding?

Hello all. DD2 now 7 weeks old. I'm 2 stone heavier than I was pre-baby and feeling really unhappy about it. I'd like to use the New Year to kick-start some weight loss but can't go too drastic as I'm breast-feeding and don't want to mess up my milk supply. I'm largely thinking about cutting back on sugary things which I think is my main downfall, and trying to do some more walking. Problem is I find breast-feeding makes me really hungry which makes the whole process more challenging. I'm determined to do this though, even if it is a gradual process.

Sorry not been on for a few days. How is everyone doing?

Unexpectedly good weigh-in today. I've done pretty much no exercise all week as it's been drizzling down here pretty much all week so not really fair to take the DDs out for long walks. I have been pretty good with what I've been eating though. The scales this morning showed a pound and three-quarter loss this week, so that's better than I thought!

My first goal was to lose half a stone by DH's birthday (next Saturday) but this weeks loss means I've hit that target a week early so I'm chuffed.

Next goal is to lose another half a stone (so a total one stone loss) by the end of March.

Hello from the antenatal board kitkat!! Mind if I join you all? DS2 now 7 weeks and I seem to live on sugar all day long, not helped by my very lovely DM coming over to make new batches of brownies and puddings every other week. And DH seems to live on sugar and yet remain svelte Angry My last pregnancy I was down to pre-preg weight by now, it kind of did the all-fell-off thing, but I was so much fitter during that pregnancy. This one I hardly exercised and had stressful job and so it's all mounted up.
I went to a physio yesterday so he could check my stomach muscles as my baby belly is still enormous - I was hoping I had a real problem but no, muscles joining together just fine and I'm just tubby BlushSad

So I have 1.5 stone to lose, not too terrible, but I have found a (lovely) group of local ladies who all look gorgeous and flat stomached again, and it's making miserable and anxious. I need some will power!! Does anyone have any they could pass my way?
Going to read full thread properly and see if I can get tips :)
I have had a fairly ok breakfast of coffee, toast & no sugar peanut butter so - onwards and upwards.

Welcome Pops! Of course you can join! I had two stone total to lose (a stone and a half now) and am keen to get it off by summer. Sweet things are also my downfall. I find low-fat yogurts quite a good way to beat my cake cravings.

Well I've lost a pound! But in 10 days. Going to be sloooooow going. I'm taking babyPop into work in a couple of weeks and don't want to still look pregnant :(

How's everyone else doing?

I can't believe how slow it is! Probably coz I'm rubbish at resisting sweet things but still. Well done on your pound pops! I get my M&S stomach control tights out for occasions like that.

Well done on the one pound loss Pops.

I know it's frustrating but slow and steady weight loss is better and more maintainable than crash dieting.

I had a sneaky mid-week hop on the scales this morning (even though Saturday is my normal weigh-in day) and had put on a quarter of a pound. I can't say it was a total surprise though as the past few days has been a disaster. DD1 got really, really poorly with her tummy bug (honestly thought on Sunday at one point she was going to end up on a drip as she was refusing all fluids). This sadly also happened to be the weekend of DH's birthday, and so all our plans had to be cancelled, and I think we just over-compensated and lived on take-aways and chocolate birthday cake to cheer ourselves up. Regretting it now. Hoping if I behave myself for the next 3 days I can at least get a 'stayed the same' by the time Saturday rolls around.

Hi all, just joining in. Am trying to lose baby weight after 2 babies in 2.5 years. Was 10.5 stone when I conceived dc 1 and 14 stone when I gave birth to dc2 who is just over 3 months. Am now down to 11 St 12 so 1.5 stone to go. Am calorie counting and trying to stick to 1500-1800 max a day as ebf. Hard going when tired most of the time but have set myself a target of June by dd's 3rd bday

KitKat1985 · 20/02/2017 10:09

Hi CeCe. Well done - you've already done very well. I've got about a stone and a half left to lost too so we're in the same boat.

Not had the best weekend here diet-wise. The past week and a half hasn't been great. By some miracle I had pretty much stayed the same on Saturday's weigh in (actually I had lost quarter of a pound, much to my surprise) but I really want to get back on track this week. Although I do have a Christening on Sunday which may involve cake.
