Can I join too. Got 3-4 stone to lose and need to up the exercise and start looking after myself better. I'm. It starting until New year as we still have lots of family stuff on but I will use my Fitbit and stop with the processed foods.

Salobrena · 28/12/2016 12:55

Starting my changes today. Heading off to the gym and will get my weight and body measurements on the fancy machine they have.
Plan to do 40 min brisk walk and 20 min weights.
Hope everyone is having a positive day.

Just calculated my bmi, it's 31.6, so I'm obese which I already knew, but I'm not too far into obese now (I was 2 some heavier in July, so bmi was obviously higher). I feel like the one stone I need to lose to become overweight rather than obese is pretty achievable. My thought is that I can lose an average of a pound a week, so that's about 3 months to lose a stone and a year to lose the 4 stone I'm ultimately aiming for (which will put me into the healthy bmi zone, just). If it takes 18 months -2 years that's absolutely fine too. It took quite a while to get to this weight, so it will take a while to lose it as well. I think that's why it really does need to be a permanent lifestyle change rather than a diet, cos I can stick to a diet for a few weeks but I really can't stick to a diet for a whole year!

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/12/2016 13:01

Would anybody like to be fitbit friends? I can pm my email address so people can add me if you like. I do find it more motivating if I have someone to compete against, although I generally do better at weekends due to work in the week.

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 13:33

Msawesomedragon I'll be Fitbit friends just pm me.

BarleysFiddle · 28/12/2016 13:38

Can I join in please? I weighed myself this morning and was 15 stone exactly, which gives me a BMI of 36. I'd like to get back to 10 stone and a BMI of 24 ideally. I've downloaded a habit tracker and Map My Walk.

These are the things I'm going to try to adhere to:

  1. My friend's nutrition plan which is really sensible and achievable
  2. I signed up for the 1000 mile challenge which I can track on Map My Walk.
  3. Attempt to do Jillian Michaels' Beginners Shred every day in January (I tried the normal one but nearly died so I'll start with this one instead)
  4. Re-read Run Fat Bitch Run because I found it great motivation last time. I have no intention of running in January, but I'm hoping to start C25K in February again.

My cousin is getting married in August, and there's no way I'll lose it by then, but it would be nice to be there by next Christmas.

HerChristmasFattyness · 28/12/2016 14:04

I'll be fitbit friends too awesome

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 16:49

Anyone want to be Fitbit friends and maybe do a daily challenge on me you're email and will add you.
Nothing like a bit of competition Wink

DesperatelySeeking2016 · 28/12/2016 16:55

Hello, I would love to join u. I stepped on the scales this morning and I am 12st 3 (a 3 lb gain over Christmas) but I am 5ft 4 and want to be around 9st 7. I have a lot of work to do! Like others I work full time and have 2 small children (6 and 4) so I am tired before Christmas I was getting up at 5 to go to the gym but I'm not sure that is sustainable. The trouble is my dh works long hours and often isn't back until 10 pm and the children are crap at going to sleep. 5 am might be the only option!
I really struggle to follow a diet and my dh will despair if I spend anymore money on kitchen gadgets/books/exercise dvds/diet plans so i really do have to get this sorted on my own. I have set up an instagram page (carrotsticksand_protein) to try and keep me accountable but I think I will feel like a bit of a knob taking a photo of all my food! Grin. I have persuaded dh to book an exotic holiday for December 2018 (our 10th wedding anniversary) so I am hoping to use this as a focus to keep me motivated...

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/12/2016 17:27

Welcome desperately. It's so hard fitting exercise in when we have work and childcare responsibilities isn't it? I find it hard enough trying to get to the gym and my dh is home by about 6 ish most nights (I arrive home about 5:30, picking up dd2 on the way), but I also have work to fit in after the kids are in bed.

Thanks for adding me on fitbit, I'll be issuing a challenge for tomorrow!

rubber I'm very new to fitbit but there's a few different ones.
I have the flex 2. It's no display, so have to sync to the app to see what's what but that's not a problem for me.
It tracks steps, exercise, calories, sleep, etc etc. You can even swim with them on. (I'm not sure if that's all of them, but mine you can)
Adding friends allows you to compete against each other for steps etc.

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 18:47

hi

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 18:49

Rubber
I have a Fitbit charge hr it tracks steps distance ,elevation I can enter my food and tracks my sleep, mine links with an app on my phone but can do it on a laptop. Tan ddobdiffere

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 18:51

Jeez my phone is having a moment.
You can enter different challenges and set goals. Only been using a few days but like it so far.

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/12/2016 19:02

I've got a flex (the cheapest one possible). There is no display, although one little light stands for 1/5 of your target and lights up when you reach it, then it buzzes when you get to target. To see the actual number of steps I've done I need to connect to the app on my phone. I don't tend to use the other features, other than the weight tracking. I do use the challenges as I like a little competition to motivate me.

Salobrena · 28/12/2016 19:31

I have a garmin vivosmart hr, so can't join you.

I made it to the gym Smile and did a 45 min moderate walk on an incline.

I am 13st 8lbs and half of my body is fat. I look awful and I feel awful.

I have signed up to do a Snowden Trek for charity and the 1000 mile walk challenge. This is the first time I have set an actual goal, so fingers crossed it will keep me focused and motivated.

I also joined some health and fitness groups on Facebook. My feed is now full of healthy things rather than numerous posts about wine, cheese and chocolateGrin

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 19:38

Salivate

Floppypillow · 28/12/2016 19:46

How do I join this group? I have got to lose about 4stone as I have back and knee problems and I know less weight will help but have struggled with being over weight all my life

badhotfanny · 28/12/2016 19:50

I'm doing the 1000 mile run challenge.

I'm not planning to start until 2 jan - running but also mainlining cheese, wine and chocolate. I'm comfortable with that :)

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/12/2016 19:53

I think you've just joined floppy, welcome.

I went out for a walk to the shops earlier, to buy bras in the sales. Walking there and back again as well as wandering round the shops means I'm up to 11,500 ish steps today, much better than the 0 I've had for the past couple of weeks because I'd dropped my fitbit behind the bed Xmas Blush

beanhunter · 28/12/2016 19:57

Me too please! Have at least 2 stone to use. IVF drugs have meant I've regained all the 1.5 I lost in 2015. I need all the motivation you can chuck at me please. Will power at a zero.

openingthexmasspirit · 28/12/2016 20:00

my phone is really not playing ball today,
what is the 1000 mile challenge.? SALOBRENA
im up to 20,000 steps today which is about 9 miles woo hoo.

Mrsmorton · 28/12/2016 20:04

I'm in. I binge eat so a distraction would be welcome.

Any ideas what I can really do to kickstart things in a week? I just feel so inflated I'd like to deflate before going back to work.

Fitbitter here as well. I've sent some PMs.

RandomMcRandomface · 28/12/2016 20:51

I'll look you all up on Fitbit once I get on my desktop.

So let's all visualise a goal for motivation today - one moment you look forward to the most at the end of this. Mine is seeing a pic someone else has taken that I haven't posed for and not having that 'do I really look like that' feeling
