What's the best way?

I am yet again here wondering how I go about losing weight... I'm exhausted with wondering what the way forward is. Ive done them all... all the main diets and had some success but never managed to keep at it! I am still about 2 stone overweight, however I am now fitter than ever through increasing my exercise over the last 6 months. I am willing to do anything really to get to a point where I'm confident in a bikini. I've just gotten back from a weeks holiday where I wore bikinis etc but looking at the photos.... I'm just not happy and need to face up to the fact that I am in the obese bmi category and need to get this started and maintained.
My main question now is what 'plan' do I follow? I'm swaying towards mfp and trying to remain consistant and away from salty snacks which are my downfall! Anyone else felt lost at what the best approach is?

I think the best approach (totally unfashionable!) is not to diet. I stick to three meals. I try and focus on what I AM eating rather than what I shouldn't eat. So healthy fats. Lots of veg. Lean protein. Cut anything processed. Avoid sugar and refined carbs. Drink lots of water.

I've been thinking along those lines Wolfiefan. I think the 'exhausted' feeling I get when I think about losing weight is from years of focusing on what I should eat..

I think about what I will eat. Thankfully I actually love salad. I will top with blue cheese or goats cheese or smoked salmon. (Not loads but it tastes so strong you don't need tonnes!)
I need to avoid filling up on cereal or sandwiches or crisps or toast. I need to keep my blood sugar on a more even keel then those foods allow.
Oh and I need to avoid eating because I'm tired or happy or sad or been working hard or I need a treat. Etc etc!

Apparently to initially lose weight it's 8-12 week very low calorie diet followed by permanently eating a Mediterranean diet and doing average exercise

Depends how big you are though obviously. I was talking about someone stones overweight :)
If you need to lose HAKF a stone DO NOT do a vlcd for twelve weeks!
