This is the hardest day so far my will power is crap so i dont know where I am getting it from! I am on day 5 and I think I have lost about 10lbs but my scales and the cs scales may be completely different!! but I know I have lost 4 inch from my waist and bust! I just hope this gets a tad easier as I am finding it very hard I too suffered from Bulima for about 5 years I stopped when I got preg with my DS thus I put on 6 stone then a further 2 since then ! So I have between 8-10 stone to lose which is going to take a year and the thought of not eating for a year is very very hard but i keep thinking of myself in the size 14 Monsoon dress at the Christmas party and it keeps my going even more so than the fact that my mum and dad are going to pay for the holiday of a lifetime to the seychelles I CAN DO THIS I CAN ohh that has made me feel alot better xxx

my2kidsmum · 31/03/2007 19:58

Hi, I sympathise completely. You're thinking just the same as me, and I am SO fed up of it already. Do people really stick to this long term, they need a medal. I sinned big time today and pinched some of the chips my DCs had at lunchtime, I just couldn't resist any longer. Now feel majorly guilty and wondering what damage I've done! I've only had two shakes today to try and make up for it, but obviously it's food, and fatty carbohydrates at that. Any ideas what harm I've done anyone?

However, I'm still determined to do this and am trying to look upon it as a blip. My biggest problem of all that I have is that I keep yelling at everyone, I have no patience and feel so irritable. I know I've said about this before but it just seems to be getting worse. It's horrible.

Good grief, listen to me moaning on, so sorry. On a massive plus point is that I can feel so much difference in my clothes already, it's quite incredible and SO exciting.

So that's incentive enough to make me stick with this!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 31/03/2007 20:02

my2kidsmum I think carbs can know you out of ketosis ( i doubt thats how you spell it) I have read that if you do have a blip drink as much water as poss and you should be fine I too am being horrid to everyone I snapped at my sister today as she left all the crusts from her crust bread!!! whats that about !

joash · 01/04/2007 09:45

Just got weighed - 15lb lost in 6 days . Day 7 today

hercules1 · 01/04/2007 11:22

Congratulations, Joash How has your first week been? I am on day one...

gtimama · 01/04/2007 11:34

Managed to get through yesterday without folding. Staying strong so far today. Weigh in tomorrow. I know I've lost but not sure how much yet. Trousers that didn't do up before now fitting. That makes you feel good.

Good luck everyone - stay strong.

joash · 01/04/2007 12:53

Hi Hercules. My first week wasn't too bad. I didn't feel particularly hungry at all. Although I did have a nibble on some bread (more out of habit than anything else - see further down thread) and admit to eating a small piece of cheese twice during the week (cheese is my biggest weakness). I think the secret is that if your do 'cock-up' to just start again straight away. Couldn't beleive the scales this morning. I had hoped for a stone in the first week, but will probably have lost about 16 or 17 in the first week. Next week will be more dofficult as we have a big family 'occasion' coming up on tuesday and I am going to try to be good, but if I succumb I wil attempt to avoid carbs - as I think that might be the nest thing to do.
Good luck - this diet is amazing. Only wish I'd done it years ago.

joash · 01/04/2007 12:54

16 or 17 lb - not stones (I wish)

hercules1 · 01/04/2007 12:56

My biggest worry is working as a teacher 4 days a week, looking after 2 kids, a house and walking 2 dogs everyday. WIll I have the energy on this diet??

hercules1 · 01/04/2007 12:57

It does seem too good to be true. I spent some time looking at the minimims website at the photos before and after. Amazing.

joash · 01/04/2007 13:06

I did feel absolutely 'crap' for the first three days, although I was warned that this would happen and would probably last for about four days. Slept all night and dozed of in the daytime, had headaches and felt freezing - in fact I just couldn't get warm. However, I have felt brilliant for the past few days, not tired or anything.

michaelad · 01/04/2007 13:23

A quick question about ketosis. How do I know I'm in ketosis? I know there are some strips you can wee on to find out or does your counsellor check this? And how quickly can you come out of or back into ketosis once you've "messed" up? Starting next week and already dreading the easter weekend with family and friends coming for dinner..

joash · 01/04/2007 13:31

not sure about the ketosis thing - although GS did tell me yesterday that he could 'smell my breath' - so I assume that I'm there.

michaelad · 01/04/2007 13:36

LOL, isn't it weird that we're now doing everything we can to achieve having bad breath??!

joash · 01/04/2007 13:40

mmm

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 01/04/2007 18:12

does anyone else get a weird taste in their mouth!

Today has been easier am now on day 6 and am coping how I have not cheated I really dont know

hercules1 · 01/04/2007 18:48

That sounds really good to get to day 6 and not have cheated. Well Done

I am near the end of day 1 and it's been hard at times but I'm trying to keep the end goal in sight - being slim for July/August.

REally hungry at the moment so having another pint of water now and looking forward to my "meal" of the day.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 01/04/2007 20:03

It does get better even by day 6 I am not hungry anymore and I dont even fancy my soup and I have to have two more packets today a soup and a shake! and i think I am the biggest one here so If I can can do it anyone can!

my2kidsmum · 01/04/2007 20:05

Congratulations Joash, that's fantastic. I have my first weigh in tomorrow and hope to have done okay (don't think it'll be nearly as good as you though!), but I have had the odd mouthfull of food a couple of times.

I've had the funny taste in my mouth as well, although dp hasn't commented on bad breath - yet...

I'm hoping today (day 7) is a breakthrough day. I actually managed to do lunch and dinner for dc's today without getting irritable and shouting at everyone! Fingers crossed that carries on as that's been my hardest thing to cope with.

Agree with you about how good it feels to feel clothes fitting better already, now I just look forward to them being too big!

my2kidsmum · 01/04/2007 20:12

hercules1 - don't worry about the energy, the first few days aren't great but I'm on day 7 and already I feel tons better.

I've got 6 dogs (all agility competion dogs), 2 kids, the house to run, and also do all DP's paperwork (he's self employed). I've done all of this during the week, plus trained the dogs (involves a lot of energy as you can imagine), exercised them obviously, and yesterday went to an Agility Show whilst looking after DC's and competing with the dogs. I felt fine! I actually think I feel better now i'm on this than I did when I ate food - I've only just realised how horrid I always felt, and tired!

So anyway, in a very wafferly way, I'm trying to say don't worry - you'll be fine and will probably surprise yourself.

PS - I'm also getting more things done generally, I never realised how much time I spent eating!!!

gtimama · 01/04/2007 21:41

Does anyone know what the minimims website is the Hercules1 talks about. I would like to have a look at that. It might inspire me to carry on. If anyone knows the full address please let me know.

catsmother · 01/04/2007 23:22

Gtimama - MiniMins

catsmother · 01/04/2007 23:26

Joash - huge congratulations, that's the biggest loss (I think) I've ever heard of, more than a stone !!

Michaelad - you get ketostix from the chemist. I think "normal" people use them if they're diabetic. I asked in Tescos and whilst I got a "don't you get these from your doctor?", no further questions were asked (thankfully, didn't want to have to justify a low calorie diet in a busy supermarket) and they sold them to me. Think they were £5 something for 50 sticks. I don't use them every day, but every now and again just to check I'm doing it right.

OP posts:
hercules1 · 02/04/2007 08:05

Thanks 2kidsmum. That helps to know that. I felt really good yesterday despite a few hunger pangs but relieved those with water. I even managed to go to Tescos and smell dh cooking a lamb roast without caving in. Feeling a little funny this morning but not tired.
My scales say I've lost 2lbs after one day.

Told my mum and sister yesterday. THey are against it but have agreed to support me.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 02/04/2007 10:12

right I am day 7 but dont go to my CS till tomorrow night as she was fully booked for tonight so I got on the scales this morning as i wont have a day 7 weight in otherwise and to my utter shock I have lost 22lbs [shock in my first week!

I really cant believe it although I can feel it in my clothes and just moving about also I have not cheated once and have drunk 6 lts if water each day. I suppose I have lost so much because I have sooooo much to lose but I am still so happy with it I am go to buy a bike this week and start riding every evening then in a few weeks start swimming SEE WE CAN DO THIS
