Catsmother - Are you still sole sourcing or are you doing one of the higher plans?

my2kidsmum · 27/03/2007 20:54

Hi everyone. Just to let you know that I rang my CS tonight and explained what happened. She said to go to see her next monday as planned and we'll take things from there. So i'll let you know how it goes...

On a plus point, I have survived the second day - even with my nightmare afternoon with the Doc!! I was actually quite proud of myself for not hitting the food big time after all that happened as it is the sort of situation that would've sent me to fridge and food cupboard by way of the sweet counter before!!! Instead, I drank a glass of water!

Thanks for your support everyone, it means a lot. Thank you.

luciemule · 27/03/2007 21:39

Good ideas my2kidsmum - to carry on, get your BMI down and then carry on. Great that you didn't get put off. Good luck -I'm sure you'll do it!

Aloha · 27/03/2007 21:43

My2Kids, get a second opinion or buy on Ebay. I've bought on Ebay to lose 20lbs very quickly. It is so fantastic to fit back into clothes I thought I'd never wear again.

catsmother · 27/03/2007 23:22

Bendigo, I am still sole sourcing. I haven't yet had an "add a meal week" for example, which you usually do every 5th week. Reason for that is that my first 5th week co-incided with Xmas, and I ate normally for a week - had intended to do only 3 days then but couldn't stop myself. Back on the wagon afterwards, and again, around 5 weeks later, I had to go into hospital with an abdominal infection and ate there, plus after, for about another week as I had anti biotics and very strong painkillers. Then again, I had an episode of bingeing at one point (at the beginning of March I think).

my2kidsmum - I cant understand your Doc. I haven't read the whole thread but what is your BMI - surely it cant be as high as mine (63)

bendigoblue · 28/03/2007 09:04

Catsmother - I didn't think you were supposed to Sole Source at a BMI lower than 25, I thought you had to move onto one of the higher plans as if you do sole source at a lower BMI than 25 you run the risk of burning lean muscle mass (ie around the heart etc)

There are quite a lot of threads on MiniMins about it like this one:-

www.minimins.com/cambridge-diet-forum/10791-what-happens-bmi-25-a.html

Not being negative, just interested, seems many CDC's have different rules, my CDC has at least one woman I know of doing sole source with a bmi less than 25

bendigoblue · 28/03/2007 09:06

sorry, didnt do the link right

link

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 28/03/2007 09:54

ohh to have a BMI lower than 25 ahhhh

Second morning doing ok bad taste in my mouth and had to force down my first shake !

bendigoblue · 28/03/2007 10:00

Lol, I know what you mean, my BMI is 33.9, so getting there slowly, it was 44.3.

I've asked about the sole sourcing with a BMI than less than 25 on MiniMins, I hope it is ok to do because I was going to switch to SW to get another stone off after I get to BMI 25, it'd be easier doing SS for another month lol.

Completely forgot, I lost 6lbs this week! Takes me to 62lbs lost in total, 55lbs in the last 11 weeks on Cambridge. Only 57lbs to go until BMI 24.5. Woo Hoo!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 28/03/2007 11:26

62lbs that is so brilliant you are keeping me going roll on 11 weeks !

catsmother · 28/03/2007 11:49

6lbs is fantastic Bendigo - again ! You are doing so well, so consistently, and now you're more than halfway there.

Re: SS & BMI ...... I honestly don't know. I've read similar threads before too, but I've also read quite a bit of contradictory info as well. This isn't me insisting upon doing SS, I am being guided by my counsellor. I don't know if perhaps she is taking the view that when you add up all the food I've eaten around every 5 weeks, (plus the odd few "little" lapses) it comes to a lot lot more than if I'd simply been "adding a meal" etc., and that having done this, I am still sort of balanced ??? .... IYKWIM.

I expect that next weigh-in, we will talk about moving onto the maintenance plan anyway, because my next weigh-in after next week will then be in 2 weeks time as she is going away - and, fingers crossed, I will hit target during that fortnight, and would need to alter things then for sure.

I have to say I have never felt better. I walked home this morning, up a very steep hill, and wasn't the slightest bit out of breath, nor sweating. In fact, it just felt totally and utterly normal. Just a few weeks ago, that same walk would have me gasping for breath (embarrassingly), with my heart thumping - ridiculous.

bendigoblue · 28/03/2007 12:18

God, it must feel so good thinking about maintenance Catsmother, you have done so fantastically! I hope you'll stay with us when you do go to maintenance and share your experiences with us! At the moment, even though it's still months off, the thought of having to actively manage what I eat is quite scary!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 28/03/2007 12:24

Catsmother how much have you lost all together now?

luciemule · 28/03/2007 15:00

Hi Guys - well I really have let myself down this week - put on 1lb 8oz! She measured me and I lost 4cm from waist and 1cm from bust and legs/arms/hips stayed the same so she said it is probably water retention (glad she's so hopeful!).
I am now going off for Easter to my parents on Saturday for 2 weeks so I've told them to be ultra strict with me. Mum will cook for the kids and hopefully I'll be kept so busy, I won't have time to think about cravings for nutella!
I feel awful though - really naughty like when I was at school and someone told me off! Well ,I'm going to pull myself together and go for it. I've now only got just over a stone to go so if I give up now, it will all have been for nothing.
Sorry to moan. I knew before I went I hadn't lost this week though.

catsmother · 28/03/2007 15:14

LSM - I have lost, according to yesterday's weigh-in, 3 stone 7lbs. According to MY scales it would be an extra pound !!! I lost another pound this morning. So, 3.5 stone whatever way you look at it. I was 13 st 9lbs to start with, though I had no idea how much I weighed for ages because I simply didn't want to know ..... I still feel very strongly that it's not what the scales say, it's how you feel within yourself (physically), and how you feel about yourself (mentally) that's important to me. I can see a big difference now - though not quite believing it - yet my legs seemed to be the last place where fat was disappearing from. Luckily though, I can now see those changing too - as if by magic ..... I tried on a pair of zip-up boots yesterday and the zip just glided up. Previously they were agony to wear and I literally had to stuff my calves into them, practically cutting off my circulation. I'm not trying to boast ...... just sharing how amazing it feels when stuff actually fits and fits comfortably for the first time in years. It really does give you a boost.

I'll certainly stay around to share my maintenance experience. That scares me too. I think, like I've said before that I will have to resign myself to a life of calorie counting and keeping a much closer eye on my weight (having just said I don't care what the scales say !), but I mean, so that when I get to the point where my body feels right, whatever weight that might be, I don't let it all slip again. I won't be obsessive about calories to the enth degree but will need to be aware of the daily limit that's right for me, and if I treat myself one day, be disciplined enough to pull back the next day or two.

Luciemule - I've had weeks where I've not lost anything at all, or, from weighing myself at home, have put pounds on after a binge (and then didn't bother going to get weighed). I put 3lbs on after Xmas for example. But look at the bigger picture, look at how much you've lost altogether, rather than what you haven't lost this week. Anyway, you have lost this week, albeit cms !

my2kidsmum · 28/03/2007 20:01

joash - my bmi was 42, so borderline to have to go to docs anyway!!

How are you getting on? Found today (Day 3) really hard. Have drunk 6 1/2 litres of water just to stop myself from eating! Am hoping tomorrow feels easier. Can't say it's really hunger though, I just NEED food, bread mainly!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 28/03/2007 22:06

My2kids I know how you feel I have just finished day two and all I am thinking of is food and that its going to be so long before I can eat a normal meal again! I keep finding myself watching cooking programs which is weird as I never watch them

ohh I do hope this gets easier!

gtimama · 28/03/2007 22:18

Hi everyone.

I'm in my second week. I did great last week 7 3/4 lbs. Second week is going OK, but I do struggle with the water drinking. How on earth do you drink 6 1/2 ltrs? I just about manage 2 ltrs. Luckily I've not had any of the side effects yet. No headaches at all. I find it easier when I'm at work, which is only mornings, but I keep a bottle at my desk and just keep drinking and refilling. Trips to the loo are annoying though!

fussymummy · 28/03/2007 22:52

my2kidsmum I think its awful of your GP to not sign the form for you.
My GP was so pleased for me that i was trying to lose weight when i asked her to sign mine.
Good idea to try and lower your BMI and its great that your CDC will see you again.
Well done on getting through day 3.
I was like you and craved bread (still do!)

catsmother fantastic that you can now think about maintenance.
You'll have to help us all out with some good advice when we eventually get there!!!

luciemule Don't worry about putting on a bit, it happens to us all!
You did lose in cms though!
Enjoy your hol and stay away from the easter eggs!!!!!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy Well done on getting through day 2.

gtimama Brilliant loss for week one, good luck with week 2.

I think that everyone, sorry if i forgot anyone.

I got weighed today and lost 1 lb!!!

Not much, but it's better than nothing.

I did go out for a big meal at the weekend for my partners birthday though!!!

I've now lost 38lbs & 1/4 in 12 weeks.

joash · 29/03/2007 10:21

my2kidsmum - funny you should mention day 3 & bread. GS wanted soup and bread for his lunch and he left a slice - guess who scoffed it . I love bread. But, at least I realised what I was doing and didnt eat any more. Just got weighed 10.4lb in three days . Determined to do this.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 29/03/2007 10:56

joash that is brilliant - I am on day three now and last night i felt really hungry but a bit better now - I can say even being on the diet for just 2 days I can feel I have lost weight !

joash · 29/03/2007 10:58

Thelittlesoldiersmummy - I felt hungry yesterday, which probably explains the bread craving.
I know that I shouldn't be getting weighed everday - but I can't resist. Have told myself that once the first week is over - I will weigh twice a week for a couple of weks then weekly.
Good luck

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 29/03/2007 13:18

Q. Does anyone else have frothy wee?

joash · 29/03/2007 13:22

err - not me
