At the moment we're in Somerset but in August we move to Wattisham near Ipswich.
I know Chelmsford sort of (friends live there/eye laser clinic/shopping but we especially know Kelvedon Secret Nuclear Bunker and since visitng it about 4 years ago, my husband has recurrent dreams about the bunker! Have you been - if you haven't you should go. It's amazingly strange and it can't be that 'secret' as there are brown traffic signs pointing to its direction everywhere! Definitely worth a visit if you've not been. We were posted to Cambridge and Wattisham before though so know the east of england quite well. Looking forward to going back - we joined the National Trust today so will be looking more good places to go.
Going back to the diet - what are downfalls when it comes to food? Is it portion size or chocolate/crisps? My mum used to put large portions on our plates as children and we were brought up under the 'sit there until you eat it' regime! So clearing my plate was a common link I think to my overeating.

michaelad · 25/03/2007 21:05

When I was young it was the "Eat up and the sun will shine tomorrow" or "Think of the starving children in Africa" story. Still find it incredibly hard to throw away food. And crisps...once a bag is opened I need to finish it! I just go on autopilot. Sometimes I think they must lace them with something..

michaelad · 25/03/2007 21:07

And we have not being to the unbelievably secret bunker yet but will definitely go one day. Maybe when the kids are a bit older!

What happened to all the other brave dieters on this thread? Hellooo?

bendigoblue · 25/03/2007 22:10

I'm still here, still poorly! I can't believe it, it's never taken me this long to shake an illness. I can only assume it's the diet. Oh well, i've just been sleeping a lot to compensate lol.

Finally started today - can I just say this ... THE CHOCOLATE DRINK IS BLOODY HORRIBLE!!!!!! (and I have two boxes of the stuff to get through YUCK!

joash · 26/03/2007 10:47

It has just taken me 45 minutes to drink this cause it is so vile. Can anyone tell me if the chocolate drink tastes better warm?

fussymummy · 26/03/2007 11:14

lucie it was 1lb and a 1/4 that i lost!
I was surprised that i'd lost anything because it hadn't been a good week!!!

bendi poor you hope you feel bit better now?

As for skin condition my cdc told me that when she started the diet her skin and hair was great.

Mine has been crap!!!

Excema bad and i've been getting spots which i never got before!!!!

I've started having fruit and veg in the hope to improve my skin.

joash choc shake is lovely hot.
Make sure you use a hand blender to mix all your shakes.

If you really don't like it then add some coffee with it and it tastes like the cappuccino shake. Yum!

fussymummy · 26/03/2007 11:15

joash i forgot to say that you shou;d drink all shakes with 15 minutes to get full benefits of vitamins and minerals.

bendigoblue · 26/03/2007 11:33

Joash - Sorry you don't like the choc drink, it is nicer hot, or try blending it with ice to make a thick smoothie sort of thing, thats yummy too. I don't get the chocolate ones much tbh, I have more soups.

I'm feeling a lot better today, i'm definately convinced it was dragged out because of the diet, I read on MiniMins you should SS if you are ill, oops, bit late now! Although I did have a few fruit pastilles on thursday because I was so desperate for something to give me an energy hit, they just made me feel more sick though lol.

My skin has been a bit up and down, i'm getting spots in odd places though, under my arms and stuff, and loads on my neck which I haven't had since I was a teenager. I just think it's all the water pushing all the crap out of my body, this has to be the biggest detox ever!.

I had a sneaky 2 day early stand on the scales this morning and i'm 4lbs down so far this week, which puts me over half way there now! 60lbs down, 59lbs to go. Yay!

bendigoblue · 26/03/2007 11:34

That should read 'shouldn't SS' d'oh

fussymummy · 26/03/2007 11:45

bendi 60lbs that is just so amazing!!! well done to you.
I'm sat here smiling for you i feel so happy.

bendigoblue · 26/03/2007 12:08

I should point out that 'only' 53lbs of that is the last 10 odd weeks on Cambridge, 7lbs was from doing Slimfast before. But 60lbs, wow, never thought i'd get that much off. I'm now 14 stone 10, from 19 stone at crimbo. Blimey.

fussymummy · 26/03/2007 12:12

It doesn't matter how you've done it, its still fantastic.
I'd be happy to stop at the weight your at now!
I remember getting to 15 stone many years go and felt fantastic, so i know how you're feeling!
Enjoy that feeling because it'll give you the willpower to carry on.

WELL DONE!!!!!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 26/03/2007 12:48

bendigoblue you are an inspiration I have my first CS tonight and I am looking forward to it - I have never been so excited about starting a diet!

luciemule · 26/03/2007 13:02

Glad you're feeling a bit better Bendigo.
You're all doing so well - I fele I'm letting the side down with my cheating exploits! However, today I have bought lots of evening primrose capsules (they say it's gamma linolenic acid that missing in people with eczema) so hopefully the skin will improve without me eating. They're like bricks to swallow though! Anyone else on them?
I thought that's what you meant Fussymummy - I've been surprised every single week I've seen counsellor that I haven't out on but when you stop and think about it, cheating to us is eating a mouthful of something or a piece of ham or a spoonful of cottage cheese so even then, we're still bound to lose good amounts each week.
Joash - have you tried the choc mint? I'm not advocating it as becuase it's the only one I like, but my parents tried it and said it just tasted like a mint Feast lolly or mint aero drink. If you like mint, you always go to your counsellor and swap. There's no point making yourself wretch every time you drink one. Contrary to other, I thought they all taste worse hot (you seem to taste the vitamin taste more) but to start with I whizzed icecubes into the chocmint ones but I ended up frozen all night! Now I just drink them with water from tap, whizz them up and glug it in one usually. As soon as you drink a glass of water afterwards, your mouth feels fresher and the taste goes. Once you've been doing the CD for a few days, your taste buds will adapt to the shakes anyway (mine never adapted to the soups though!!!).
Good idea about adding coffee to the choc one though.

luciemule · 26/03/2007 13:03

Good luck tonight TLSMummy.
Have you decreased carbs this weekend or not?

joash · 26/03/2007 14:08

Hi everyone - thanks for the tips. Although I have just tried the choc one hot and I have to agree with luciemule, still VILE!!! Probably not helped by the fact that I'm not a chocolate fan, nor a coffee fan.

Still, not going to let it put me off.

Anyone like the strawberry or fruits of the forest flavours?

my2kidsmum · 26/03/2007 14:31

Hi all

Well, my docs appt is tomorrow lunchtime to get my form signed (hopefully) because of my 42 bmi!!!

In the meantime, have started anyway (just hoping tomorrow ok so can carry on). Have managed the first morning (trust me, on other diets I've cheated already!!). Had a strawberry shake for breakfast, that was nice, and had a choc/mint shake for lunch and that was lovelly!! So far have drunk 2 1/2 litres of water (coucellor said to me to drink 2, but after reading what you all put on here, thought I'd drink more).

Have to admit so far I don't feel particularly hungry, but am surprising myself as to how many times i've automatically thought about food - plus how much time i've saved by not eating!!! Have had a headache later this morning, but that could be down to the fact that I am VERY tired after a manic weekend.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the week, already excited thinking about my weigh in next Monday, how sad am I!

I keep finding myself looking back at posts on this forum, some of them are amazing and a real inspiration - expecially when I was thinking about the diet before and especially now i've finally started - THANK YOU everyone, and let's all keep it up, summer and warm weather will be here soon, and I for one don't want to be as miserable in the heat/wearing summer clothes as I have been for the last good few years!!

michaelad · 26/03/2007 14:37

Bendigo, good to hear you're feeling better! Hey ladies, just spoke to my counsellor and will see her on Wednesday. Can anyone recommend any of the shakes or soups..or tell me which ones to steer clear of?

luciemule · 26/03/2007 14:45

michaelad - lpts opf people said oriental chilli was a good soup but I thought the brocolli and cheese was vile.
I've had forest fruits which I did drink but didn't again, although could if pushed!
I think I tried banana but in a carton which wasn't good, although if there's a banana shake, that might be good, especially with ice.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 26/03/2007 16:09

ohh should I have decreased carbs I have been eating all the "nice" food as I know I wont be for a very long time - I have 12 stone to lose ! So my2kidsmum did your cs give you the things to start the diet even though she wants you to get a doc check I thought they would wait and make sure you can go on the diet then give you them ohhh I hope my CS gives me mine tonight even though I am sure she will want me to get checked by the doc as by BMi is about 48 I was going to do slim fast this week if she says I cant start but if she gives my the stuff then I will start anyway as I have all ready had all the checks a few weeks ago at the docs as she was going to but me on slimming tablets!

luciemule · 26/03/2007 16:14

You don't have to decrease carbs - some people do just to used to the feeling of being less full and make the transition easier - not necessary though and if you read further down thread, loads of people had a last supper type week. I wish I had have done!!!

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 26/03/2007 16:27

I have absolutely had a last supper week every one of my fav dinners and I have had my easter egg so I don't feel so bad in a few weeks! I really want this to work so I dont wnat any temptations!

Did any of you buy clothes in a few sizes smaller for a goal was thinking about it??

What have you all used for motivation?

oh oh also were there loads of people at your first session?

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 26/03/2007 16:28

gosh it feels like my first day at school I am crap at this sort of thing the whole knocking on a strangers door for the first time ohhh
