michaelad · 22/03/2007 21:59

Both Moved to the UK five years ago!

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:00

Originally from Hamburg, up North

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:01

How long have you been doing CD then if you only have 18 lbs left to lose? And how strict were you about it? Struggle to see myself drinking coffee without milk..bleurrghh

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:03

Cool - we were in Fallingbostel for a year - loved the north of Germany - never quite made it into Hamburg though, apart from to go to the airport. Beatiful area though. Do you miss lving there? I do - we thought we were going back this summer but the army let us down and instead we're off to Wattisham near Ipswich! Not quite the Luneburger Heide but never mind - I'll have to just keep on buying my stollen from Lidl to cheer myself up - actually after doing the CD diet, I shouldn't be eating stollen!!!

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:07

In the last few weeks, and being completely bored with drinking red bush tea, I decided to drink cups of normal tea with milk. It seems to work quite well to fill me up before I think about cheating! I do cheat quite a lot - pretty much every day for the last weeks but DH is in Afgahnistan so I have nobody in the house to say "no - don't eat that". I'm not making an excuse but I really miss him for support. DD tried to tell me off but I don't want to her to get wrong ideas about food.
So if I cheat, I try to just have protein like a piece of ham or chicken or I have a piece of celery (that doesn't include the naughty bits of chocolate I've been eating lately).
I've been doing the diet for 9 weeks so I could have lost a lot more if I'd have been more disciplined.

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:08

I don't miss Hamburg as such. I miss family and friends and knowing my way around. Knowing the ins and outs of the system, if you know what I mean. It is a nice place though but you tend to forget when you live there all your life.
Sainsbury's do a pretty good Stollen too, I have discovered, btw.

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:10

Are you going to do the sole source programme or the 790 cals?

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:11

Dh does not know anything about my CD plans yet and might well not like the idea very much. I could see him objecting to spending an extra £35 on the shakes and things since we'll still have to buy food for the rest of the family.

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:12

No idea. Have only just started looking into it a few days ago. I thought everybody has to start with the sole source program..?!

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:13

Don't worry -I wasn't stalking you but just read your profile and noticed you'd read Shadow of the Wind. I've just read the first few chapters - is it worth carrying on? I was a bit upset as I'd just finished The Island and was so moved I don't think I should have started another book yet! Does Shadow of the wind get more exciting?

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:14

Really sweet family pictures on your page, btw. You don't look like you need to lose weight at all!! Must really try and upload some of mine at some point.

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:14

I didn't find out until last week but my counsellor and her DH only did the 790 plan as their daughter was 8 at the time and they didn't want her getting food issues. They both lost 4 stone that way and really enjoyed having meals with their daughter.

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:15

No worries. Just look at my last post! I absolutely loved Shadow of the wind but I guess it is down to personal taste. Mind you, almost everybody I gave it to loved it.

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:16

The one of me was when my DD was 18 months and I went back down to 11 stone after a year but after DS I stayed at went down to 12 from 15, then back up to 12.10 so was a bit worried that it was going up rather than down. I already feel so much fitter though - I can run along the street and not puff for a change!

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:18

Wil stick with it then - it just seemed a bit dull to start with but will keep going - I think being shattered hasn't helped me - I keep meaning to read for longer periods but only manage 2 pages at a time and then fall asleep!

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:19

790 kcals means I can substitute one shake with a meal (obviously very calorie restricted0?

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:20

Skipping back and forth subjectwise here, sorry. Have you read the time travelers wife? Well worth it too!

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:21

Right - I'm off to bed - good luck - when are you planning to begin? I found that gradually decreasing the amount of food you eat in the week leading up to starting a good idea. Having the lower carbs certainly made a difference and I wasn't expecting them as much.

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:23

Have TTWife on shelf - not yet read but looks amazingly clever but very sad.
790 - can't remember if you still have 3 shakes or if you drop one. For add a meal week you still have all 3 but that's not 790 cals. It'll say on website or someone else here will know.

michaelad · 22/03/2007 22:23

Will contact my counsellor soon. Thinking of starting in April! Good idea, off to bed with me too. Was lovely talking to you! I'll be back Gute Nacht!

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:24

Gute nacht auch.

gtimama · 22/03/2007 22:43

Hi everyone, I started CD on Tuesday this week. After reading all your messages I have great expectations! Really hope I can stick to it, been OK so far. Only thing I've found difficult is not being able to chew anything. Especially in the evenings, I seem to want the comfort of something solid in my mouth. (No rude comments about that please!!)

Really hoping that CD is the answer to years of being FAT. Seperated from husband 18 months ago and gone up 3 dress sizes. I'm currently the heaviest I have ever been and not enjoying it at all. Feel like I'm coming towards the end of a very dark tunnel and hoping that CD will help me turn life around.

1st weigh in is next monday, so please wish me luck.

luciemule · 22/03/2007 22:49

Hi gtimama - good luck for your first week - the chewing thing is weird at first but does get better and soon you won't notice. To be honest, the amount of water you have to drink gives you something to focus on, as well as knowing it'll be add a meal week in 3/4 weeks so that'll spur you on.
Can't you keep busy with something in the evenings to stop you wanting to eat? I do my exercise bike in front of tele and then come on here for a while, ironing etc and then go to bed earlier than usual and once I'm in bed, I don't want to eat.
You'll be fine - weigh in days become addictive!

gtimama · 22/03/2007 23:10

Thanks Luciemule

Was going to buy a treadmill, but advisor told me not to start exercising yet. But I do plan to just walk in front of the telly in the evenings when she says its OK.
