Half a stone for my holiday (just under three weeks)

Octopus37 · 08/08/2016 07:54

My weight has gone up, combination of meds and a complete love of food, plus tiredness, stress eating, plus sugar addiction. Have just under 3 weeks until my holiday and want to lose 6-7lbs. Plan is as follows:

As much exercise as I can do (already good with walking but will build on this)
Less food
Less carbs, have eaten a cereal bar this morning for breakfast as nothing else suitable around. Also not looking to spend a lot of money on food.

Plan for today is as follows:

20,000 steps
Some nuts for lunch
Lots of water and black tea
2 burgers with two potions of steamed veg for tea
Hot sugar free squash/diet drinks if I feel I need that.

I am going to post on this thread every day with my progress, dont mind if nobody wants to read it but it will keep me motivated. Will also post my weight every day, I know some people say you should't weigh every day, but for me this helps and I need to feel that I am gradually making progress.

So today.

Starting weight is 8st12 go me

BleedinNora

Some people are naturally slim, I suspect most of the posters on this thread are like this.

I feel better and perform better (running) at the bottom end of my BMI. If my weight was creeping up or my clothes didn't fit I'd be wanting to drop back to where I usually am.

Healthy eating with loads of veg and protein and very little junk is not disordered, just good for you. Many societies round the world eat like this and have less obesity.

So called 'normal diets Western style are more disordered, with lots of processed food and added sugar.

LittleBee23 · 16/08/2016 14:10

My BMI is around 21 but I know I look and feel better when it's around 20.
I also carry more fat around my middle which I know isn't good for me so I'm trying to cut back on processed sugars and carbs to trim my waist a bit.

Unfortunately I will never be happy with my shape or my body but I know where I can get to in order to feel the best that I can. At the moment I feel horrible and half my clothes don't fit. I'm really enjoying low carb and salads and healthy foods, cutting down on alcohol and exercising more often.

I do agree it's a shame that we can't be more accepting of our bodies but then society tells us at every turn that we now are not only to be thin, but toned as well with big boobs, big, firm bums and a tiny waist in between.

As Littlebee said, I just want to feel as good as I can. Also whilst I'm not finding low carbing easy, I am getting there and I have some clothes I want to feel comfortable in

Can I join? Am on holiday in 30 days and would love to lose half a stone. Am 9 stone 5 now at 5ft 5. Buy half stone takes me to an easy size 10 and I feel fab in a bikini. So it's low carbing we are doing is it?

LucyLocketLostHerPocket · 17/08/2016 09:01

Busyboysmum just wanted to add that it's very early days for low carbing and it's really normal to have a couple of weeks where you don't lose after the initial bit. Also toast for breakfast definitely isn't a low carb food and although it works brilliantly if you stick to it, it's not a forgiving way of eating especially in the early days.

busyboysmum · 17/08/2016 09:13

Thanks Lucy. I'm still stalled but am sticking with it as it's making me feel better and I've not had any cravings which is in itself a minor miracle. I've looked into it a bit more and realise where I've been going wrong eg with the toast. That's helpful that it's not forgiving. My mum and I are both going to try sticking to the low carb on holiday as well. The carbs make me feel rubbish and bloated. My skin seems better smoother less cellulitey.

LittleBee23 · 17/08/2016 16:38

Not weighed myself in a few days so not sure but I feel my clothes are fitting better which is good.

I couldn't do no carbs so I'm having carbs one meal a day and then no carbs the other two meals but on workout days I'm allowing myself two carb meals although still low in carbs if that makes sense?

I always find I really need carbs in the morning but trying to have things like oats that are more sustaining.

Octopus37 · 18/08/2016 08:00

Still the same for me (8st7), but know I'm doing my best and I don't feel that I can realistically cut anything else out. I am now telling myself that any further loss will be a bonus, but I do have 9 days to go before we go away so maybe.

I'm the same and we fly tomorrow morning plus my period is due that day just for good measure. I'm pleased that I did this and lost the 3kg although it is a bit annoying that it all came off at first then stopped. Anyway spray tan booked this evening which always makes wobbly bits look better!

Have a fantastic holiday, big well done on your weight loss and thanks for the moral support

Well done on your weight loss!! Have a fab holiday!!

I've put on 1.5lbs this week 😭 But just taken my period today and it's weigh in day so I'm hoping it's just that as I've been good with food and exercise.

Octopus37 · 19/08/2016 09:21

Same weight got me today but I am feeling trimmer. Would be ecstatic with another two pounds off for my holiday, last weigh in will be Sat 27th, so 8 days to go

I have broken through my plateau, 8st5 this morning so really chuffed. Went to a party last night, I did cheat and drink two pints but it was a BBQ, so I ate some meat, salad and coleslaw which was still yum. Planning to try and stay the same for my holiday now, not expecting to lose any more but if I do it will be a bonus.

Well done you!! That's great. I'm going to give myself a few days before my next way in as I've been more lax over the weekend but my jeans are defo fitting better so fingers crossed.

Bet you can't wait to go away now. X

Octopus37 · 22/08/2016 09:50

Really cannot wait, getting excited and hoping for a bit of a break on holiday as I am knackered. Eating well is going to be a challenge the next few days as feeling PMTish, but will do it.
