New thread for a new week

OP posts:
hub2dee · 01/02/2007 14:34

I'll search for my name every now and then, so if you call, I'll probably turn up, if somewhat late, LOL.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 01/02/2007 15:06

Daniel does indeed love his beepy key thing (damn thing doesn;t have an off switch) his mummy favours the shooshoo's which are fab and he had barely had them off since getting them when out of the house. They're a perfect fit and so cute.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 01/02/2007 15:07

have just had new fridge delivered and it needs to connect to the water mains but the bloody instructions are incomprehensible. thought it would just be a case of unplugging old one unplugging new one - still at least I have a fridge and freezer now - handy with a little one...

hub2dee · 01/02/2007 15:21

Which bit of 'connect hose to pipe' did you find hard, sj ?

JackieNo · 01/02/2007 15:21

WWB - 10 inches. Very impressive.

Sue - glad your new fridge has arrived. Can't imagine doing without one of those for long.

Have weighed, and have stayed the same yet again. And DH is away tomorrow for 8 days, so even more temptation for me to eat in the evenings.

WigWamBam · 01/02/2007 16:27

Very impressive, Jackie. Quite took my breath away. And so many of them, too ...

Sorry about the lack of off switch, Sue [evil snigger emoticon needed]. But the shoo-shoos are rather sweet, so perhaps we can be forgiven for the beepy keys

OP posts:
JackieNo · 01/02/2007 17:41

So many . Now that is, indeed, unusual.

WigWamBam · 01/02/2007 18:04

Extraordinaryily long-lasting as well. Very satisfying. It was particularly nice on my kitchen windowsill.

OP posts:
suejonezisdanielsmummy · 01/02/2007 19:55

Scuse me Hub I am very mechanically minded I'll have you know. The old fitting and new ones were different so I had to swap them with a grizzling one year old weaving around my feet and a pool of water where I'd disconnected the hose. Left it for later. And later... got it connected but it's leaking.

Bugger.

Still, fridge and freezer working just no poncey iced water and ice.

hub2dee · 01/02/2007 20:15

I'm not exactly sure of your arrangements, obviously, but if your 15mm cold feed is terminated with a compression nut, you might need a new olive. If it doesn't take an olive, green plumbers' paste on the threads might help. If this is all irrelevant, please forgive.

Oh, and mop up the mess before Daniel drinks it all up.

JackieNo · 01/02/2007 21:02

WWB .

Sue, we practically flooded our kitchen trying to connect the fridge up. But it's lovely once it's done. Hope you can sort it.

MrsJohnCusack · 01/02/2007 21:19

ahhhh lots of chat. lovely
yes the gradual withdrawal is going OK thanks everyone. the last 2 nights I've just been in, stroked her back til she lies down (no speech, don't trust myself!) which only takes a few seconds, then I sit outside the open door, she's been asleep in 15-20 minutes both times without fuss. So I think we're getting somewhere, even though I'm then awake for at least an hour. But am in a much better state than I was few days ago.

Fauve, I though you might already be on the forum - looks quite good.

WWB I do agree,a shame to lose nice sensible grown up posters (that includes you Hub ). I usually manage to ignore the rubbish bits of here and home in on the good bits, but it can be a bit difficult at times

JackieNo · 01/02/2007 21:32

Glad it's improving, MrsJohnCusack. I think not talking when you go in to her is a good thing, as it is less distraction (more boring) for her.

I know what you mean about things being a bit repetitive, but I guess that's always going to be the way on a site with this many people. And just when you think things are all getting boring, some thread comes along and makes you howl with laughter, or sets you thinking about something in a different way. There may be fewer of those threads, or maybe there are so many more threads in general, those threads can get lost/don't have a chance to develop as much.

agalch · 01/02/2007 21:35

Hi all

Just back from my weigh in.Lost 2lbs so i am a happy bunny

JackieNo · 01/02/2007 21:37

Well done you, agalch. That's brilliant.

MrsJohnCusack · 01/02/2007 21:41

oh I haven't lost faith yet Jackie, still love MN and it is a bit of a lifesaver in my current friendless state!

well done Agalch!

JackieNo · 01/02/2007 21:44

I do remember the feeling of absolute wonderment when I first discovered MN, and how excited I was at every single thread, and at how eloquent and witty everyone was.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 01/02/2007 22:06

I must admit as I am now a single mum and unable to leave afetr lights out that I like to have MN to read. Its not the only thing I do (obviously there's washing and reading and tv etc!) and I am a lot less than I used to be but I think it can be a lifesaver if you're cooped up at home.

Agree that you have to pick and choose threads though - I find I have posted on a lot less since I got back - don't know if it's me or the threads but fewer of them get my attention.

Dottydot · 01/02/2007 22:21

OK, I went to WW and have put on 3lbs over the last 3 weeks. So not brilliant, but have to keep remembering I've still lost 22lbs..!

So, back on the wagon - again - and hoping to lose the 3lbs over the next couple of weeks. Neeeeeed to stay positive 'cos it's when I get down about it that I comfort eat (of course!).

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 01/02/2007 22:25

3lb is at least manageable. You know you have lost that over three weeks before. We are nearly all here for the long haul its important that we learn how to deal with putting on weight as well as losing, otherwise we will all do what we've done before and fall off the wagon and in a year have put on all the weight we lost plus another half a stone.

Putting on weight and not letting it derail you is (in my humble opinion) as important as losing weight. It makes for a much more likely successful outcome and if it takes you three weeks longer that won't really matter in the long term, will it?

littlemisssensible · 02/02/2007 10:25

Sue you are soooo right!

If I could only stop myself getting despondant and eating the fridge/breadbin/food copboards/dd's sweetie jar when I've had a few bad weeks or I've just hit a plateau then I'd probably be a lot less 'cuddly'!

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 11:22

OK ... a little later than usual (not a good day so far today)

Agalch: -2lb (total 12.5)
DottyDot: +3lb (total 9.5lb)
Eeyore: -2lb (total 10.5lb)
Fauve: +2lb (total 14lb)
Flutterbee: -3lb (total 13lb)
JackieNo: stayed the same (total 29lb)
LittleFish: +1lb (total 4lb)
LittleMissSensible: +2lb (total 1lb)
SueJonez: I'm not telling you yet, going to keep you in suspense
WWB: stayed the same (total 17lb)

So this week's crown goes to Flutterbee (who since she thinks I have my head up my arse for being a grammar pedant may not actually want to collect it )

SueJonez, though, deserves a special round of applause and a big fanfare so she gets her weight all on it's own, surrounded by stars, and three cheers .

* * SueJonez: -23lb (total 36lb) * *

Package flights to Kazakhstan are available from an airport near you, if you fancy emulating Sue and following the Red Tape And Raw Bacon Fat diet ...
