Just 10 lb......

I've not posted here before and I guess I'm looking for some support. I'm not hugely overweight but I've put in about 10lb since I started a new (and emotionally demanding) job.
I know it's not a lot of weight but it's a whole dress size and I've definitely put on weight on my face which is the worst bit for me.
It's hard to get motivated so I've joined SW as they are happy to have small weight losses- but I'm struggling as the patterns of eating I've got into are bad.
Anyone else trying to lose a small (but significant to them) amount of weight?
Thanks

Well done everyone!

Had official weigh in today and 10st 7lb! 6lb loss in about 2 weeks. Ideally if I could get 2 10st 3 over the next couple that would be great as go on hols June 4th!

This group is really spurring me on!

tigerdog · 20/05/2016 09:24

Well done on the weight loss call and lizard. Weigh in for me at 12.15.

I'm hoping to have lost a little bit but am feeling bloated due to my period arriving yesterday. Feeing very sore and grouchy and not much like doing a gym session later!

CallWaiting · 20/05/2016 09:58

Well done Lizard and good luck Tiger :-)

I weighed in at 9st 12lb, down from 10st 1lb last week but back to my starting weight from 2 weeks ago. Aim is for 9st 10lb next week. Am away with work for a couple of nights so will have to see how that goes!

Planning to do a class and a swim at one hotel and maybe an early morning run at another place.

I was really hoping I could exercise my way out of this, but I think I'm going to have to actively diet to drop any more.

My PT has given me a recipe for what he calls a 'power pancake'. It is essentially: oats, egg whites, raisins and a chopped banana. Supposed to make it in the morning, then eat a 1/4 throughout the day at intervals, then lean meat/fish and veg (no carbs) for dinner. Sounds a bit rank but might be good for me in days when I'm traveling and I struggle to find food on the go.

9.10 this morning. About to drag myself through Jillian again.

NiteFlights · 25/05/2016 13:23

I can't update my weight because the scales in Boots are out of order! Also last week I had PMS and period bloating so I didn't feel much different. Today I think I have made some progress as my jeans feel a bit looser.

The No S diet is quite easy to stick to, but I'm very hungry in the afternoon towards dinner time and have to drink a lot of herbal tea. I'm going to stick with it strictly for three weeks total and see where I am, and if I'm still very hungry I may add in a fourth 'meal' to my routine between lunch and dinner.

I have also started walking to work as well as from work, so that's an extra 7 - 9 miles a week depending on my work days.

Feeling positive Smile

I'm weighing in tomorrow- it's been a tough week at work and I've been snacking. Fingers crossed.....

tigerdog · 26/05/2016 06:27

Good luck call. I think I need to get on the no snacking/sweets bandwagon nite!!

I've been terrible this week. Out socially on Sat and a few drinks, and then with work on Tues as well. I have been exercising but don't think it is making a difference. Hot yoga tonight I think to sweat it out a bit!

RunnerOnTheRun · 26/05/2016 19:52

polly talks a lot of sense, listen to the pro!

CallWaiting · 26/05/2016 21:48

I lost one and half lb this week and admit I'm disappointed as I'd tried so hard! However I've only got 5 lb to lose now and I should be more pleased than I am!
On holiday next week which might be a disaster......

Also got my stone award certificate :-)
That's an incentive not to gain weight on holiday next week

1.5lb in a week is not bad at all, but it won't all be fat, it'll be muscle tissue, water etc. Going on holiday should be a time when you can relax and enjoy, don't unduly punish yourself because it'll make you miserable. Holidays and Christmas are times where you can and should fluctuate to enjoy real life!

The weight-loss secret of the pharoahs?

Well done CallWaiting. Have a great holiday!

tigerdog · 27/05/2016 09:52

Well done call. 1.5lb is a decent loss. Have a fab holiday!

Weigh in for me at lunchtime, think I'm going to be exactly the same.

Have got a cold so really not feeling like doing a PT session - and it is a double one as I've been away with work all week. Great!

tigerdog · 27/05/2016 14:49

9st 11lb...another 1lb down. Next week I would like to be 9st 9lb but with a weekend away coming up I can't see myself dieting that much!

Inspired by another thread I looked up my ideal weight based on my frame size as well as height (5'5). My wrist measurement is only 5ins, which apparently indicates I have a small frame. The website I looked at said my ideal weight range was 117-130lb - so another half a stone to go to even be at the top of that!!

Hope everyone else is doing well, and looking forward to the long weekend!

pollyannahale · 29/05/2016 11:12

I noticed a few people mention losing weight being harder as you get older- you know that's actually nothing to do with age itself, just that you lose muscle as you get older.

The solution? Add more muscle! High intensity training & a high protein diet that's lower in calories than you burn each day. Honestly I'm lucky enough to be friends with some of the top trainers in the industry and we all stick to the same basic formula.

RunnerOnTheRun · 29/05/2016 11:25

Me too Polly. Love my job!

I'm interested in a magic weight loss tea - do tell Jenny it's shitter's tea isnt it

ANewIdentitytoJazzItUpABit · 29/05/2016 12:25

May I lurk or join in - I'm not fussy either way. I intend to lose 10lb or so too. I had a baby 3 months ago. I bizarrely lose weight during my pregnancies but I pack on the weight whilst BF which annoys me because I end up fatter/heavier during that (this) time than when I was sporting a huge round belly and nearly full term.
I dont have scales here but i weighed myself at MILs a couple of weeks ago and it showed 10lb5 (i think). I know I'm heavier now Blush My problem is snacking. Its a bad bad habit. I just need to break that.
Well done to everyone who has lost lbs - anything lost is an achievement. Good for you.

NiteFlights · 02/06/2016 13:44

Still can't update my weight, as Boots still haven't fixed their machine!

I have lost just about an inch from my waist and hips. I also need to go down from a 32 to a 30 bra - to be fair the 32 was on the loose side anyway, but I bra intervened myself yesterday and have a 30DD to try on tonight!

I feel really good about my eating plan. I have decided that if it am really super super hungry between lunch and dinner I will have a snack of cereal, plain yogurt or nuts. Have only had to do so once this week.

I'm drinking gallons of green and herbal teas and really enjoying them.

Walking to work is fantastic. I start work at 10.45 usually so it is quite easy to do.

Good luck everyone Smile

CallWaiting · 02/06/2016 17:43

I'm sad...... I've been on holiday this week and come back with a second chin! I'm scared to go near the scales!

OP posts:
tigerdog · 02/06/2016 18:23

Hope the holiday was fun call and good luck! It's just one week, you can definitely get back on track!

Sounds really good nite. Great will power. I am just rubbish.

I've been sick as a dog this week with a cold that turned into a nasty bout of sinusitis. Still miserably bunged up and dreading the gym tomorrow. Hardly any exercise and not great on the eating front either....oh well, 3 weeks to get it turned around before the holiday! x

NiteFlights · 03/06/2016 09:19

CallWaiting how was your holiday? Hope you had a great time. And tigerdog sorry to hear you're ill. Definitely a time to eat whatever you feel like. Sinusitis is horrible. I always have tom yum soup from my local Thai place when I have a cold - and no way would I be doing any exercise (I send DH to the takeaway) so if you do go to the gym that is seriously impressive.

ANewIdentity hello and congratulations on your new baby. I imagine it is hard not to snack when you are BF. You must be hungry. Maybe drinking more water or having set sizes of snacks? Portion control is hard for me but I have some things I weigh or measure, eg 25g nuts, so I know that's a serving. Takes the stress out of it. If I don't decide in advance I go back for more.

Have a good day everyone.
