Just 10 lb......

I've not posted here before and I guess I'm looking for some support. I'm not hugely overweight but I've put in about 10lb since I started a new (and emotionally demanding) job.
I know it's not a lot of weight but it's a whole dress size and I've definitely put on weight on my face which is the worst bit for me.
It's hard to get motivated so I've joined SW as they are happy to have small weight losses- but I'm struggling as the patterns of eating I've got into are bad.
Anyone else trying to lose a small (but significant to them) amount of weight?
Thanks

Xotic-do you mind me asking how old you are? I used to be able to drop that amount in a week but it seems that since I reached mid 30s it's so much harder. I always though that was a myth!!

Not all wandering , I'm 38 and I agree . It's def much harder to shift these days. The multiple pounds I think was more as I had a huge two day binge before starting my diet and the weight was mostly curry and wine 😂
I get to 9st 4lb usually fairly okay then halt.
Today good so far .
I do love weight watchers tomato soup , I'm sure it's not great but it tastes nice and only 76 cals .

I'm mid thirties too! And after 3rd child weight was harder to shift too. I'm in a very public job and people have no issue telling me I've put on weight Sad
I've had a great day today sticking to the SW plan.
I've also had an unexpected period (TMI sorry) so that might've made me weigh more!!
Good to have lots of us on board Smile

I'm quite a fan of the John west light lunch things in a foil dish for a quick lunch at work-they are pretty filling and quite tasty imo. Less than 250 cals.
If i brave 5.2 I'm tempted to have 2 a day on a fast day!

Morning , I've decided I'm going to do low carb . I do lose weight but end up tired on this but I'm hoping to try to ignore the calories as this is usually the prob I think ... I do low carb and low cal .
I will miss crisps and gin the most .
I'm going to buy some almond and some coconut milk to see if either are any good in coffee / tea . Any experience of this ?

Hope you are all having a good day .

I've done low carb high fat before with fantastic results-that, combined with breastfeeding melted the weight away to under 9 stone.
It's just so easy to fall off the wagon, especially when cooking for children or socialising. Although saying that, my children quite like meat and 2 veg type meals now so I guess I could just pop on some mash or pasta for them

Yeah that is the prob wandering ... There are a lot of don't s with low carb .
The positive is though that I feel I can eat quite a lot of the stuff you an have .
I will see how it goes .
I like the sound of the fat melting away quickly !

Mid thirties here too! Worst thing is the change of shape - fat now flocks to my belly whereas I used to carry weight a bit more evenly.

What would be your typical day on a low carb diet xotic? I could do with moving to lower carb/higher protein but I struggle.

Almond milk is nice in coffee but rank in tea I think. I have mostly given up tea as I don't have caffeine, so now I just stick to the herbal stuff. Coconut milk is very nice - I like a coconut milk and banana protein shake in the mornings.

How did you all get on a the weekend? I was good until Sunday night when we had family over for dinner, and had wine, pudding and cheese.

I made a lovely chicken curry with califlower rice from the Hemsley and Hemsley cookbook, which I think I'll make again.

Can I join? Trying to get from 9"7 to 8"10. I really don't want to cut out carbs but I'm using MFP and measuring so I have rice/pasta based salads with lots of veg, a bit of oily fish or lean meat and not too much rice/pasta. Trying to focus on enjoying cooking a range of foods, not grazing and drinking more water.

How is everyone doing? I am 1lb down (all counts!) but did have chips for lunch today. Intending to do 8 mile run tonight so hoping that will help burn off!

Hello I will join you if you don't mind.

Currently 10st 6 and want to be 9st 12 or below.

Just a little to lose but I don't want it to be hanging around for long! I will be doing good old fashioned calorie counting.

Hello, I need to lose somewhere around 10lbs. I don't like dieting (who does?) so I'm going to do 'no S' which is no sweets, snacks or seconds except on days that start with S. I'm combining it with a French Women Don't Get Fat approach as that worked well for me to change eating habits and lose weight in the past, but after being on medication that affected my appetite for a while I have found it more difficult. Feeling motivated again so going to see how I get on. I weighed myself on Monday on the machine at Boots and was 9st 6 ... will weigh again in a week.

Good luck everyone!

Hi to those that have recently joined!

Sounds like an interesting approach niteflights. Snacks and sweets are my downfall.

Good work on the 1lb lizard. I'm back down to 9st 12lb so a further 7lb to go ideally. I've not been too bad food wise this week. Am trying to stick to 1600 kcal - is that too much for weight loss? I think I should probably be aiming for 1200 by the sounds of it.

I'm also really trying to increase my activity levels rather than diet overly. I'm adding a weekly swim to my usual yoga and resistance training.

Weigh in on Friday so let's hope there is an improvement!!

Haven't weighed myself this week but am on track I think.
Have resisted evening snacks (fruit pie calling me from the fridge now!) and tried to up the water intake. I've just done jillian Michaels dvd too.
I'm going to drive to a friend's house for takeaway evening on sat as hopefully I'll be less likely to gorge on whatever they order. I'm not kidding myself that I won't eat anything though-will just try to make the healthiest choice.

Tiger dog-better sticking to 1600 than trying for 1200 and binging!

Thanks tigerdog. I will be really interested to see how I get on without snacking. I've bought a few really nice herbal and green teas to drink to keep myself and my tastebuds going.

I'm either 9st 6 or 9st 8 (some of the lines on the scales aren't working so it's a bit of guesswork at the moment)

I'm 9st 13 at the moment. 5mths post baby #3 in 3 yrs. I just started with myfitnesspal app this morning, I want to lose a stone. I'm on holidays in 7 weeks and bridesmaid twice towards the end of the year. Have always been slim but got a sweet tooth on baby #2 and have come away this time carrying weight I've slowly gained over the last 2 back to back pregnancies. I'm not active at all and the app has told me I can only have 1200cals for 1lb/week loss! I'll try it anyway but it's 10am and I'm famished. Baby has had me up since 5am though so it's a long morning on 45g of museli and a cup of tea and coffee:(

If it's any encouragement, I've lost 12.75lbs in 7 weeks by eating 1200 calories and sensible carb choices. Smile
