ledodgy · 08/01/2007 16:59

Im in too, will order one online when I can find my debit card!

kslatts · 08/01/2007 17:07

Hi, I'm up for this. Please can anyone recommend a good pedometer, I have one at home but it counts more steps than you have actually done. I only want a basic one, how much do I need to spend to get one that is accurate?

WinniethePooh · 08/01/2007 19:46

I have just bought this one from boots

I'd like to join please.
I just need to get a new pedometer after I chucked my jeans in the wash with the pedometer still attached to it.
I've some in Sainsbury's for 1/2 price which look good.

WinniethePooh · 16/01/2007 21:08

Hi wintersun,

You are welcome to join in.

I have done 14000 today.

hello, is still still happening? Does anyone want to revive it.?

MuckyAnthea · 07/03/2007 11:12

I was really interested in this too, but lost my pedometer last week, I think it flew off my jeans when I undid my coat in a restaurant. Am so gutted ... If this gets revived - would love to join once I have a new pedo...

NAB3 · 07/03/2007 11:13

I bought one from Argos and it is rubbish. I wanted to check it so held it in my hands while I walked and it didn't register any steps. Is it only if you wear it, and where can I get one that works but doesn't cost a ridiculous amount?

katelyle · 07/03/2007 11:14

Oh, I'd like to join in, please. I love my pedometer!

cori · 07/03/2007 14:34

I dont know where mine comes from but i think it was a freebie. It seems to work, i have only walked 1500 steps today. (havent been out) I am about to go the school run/walk (one hour round trip) so will check in when I get back.

cori · 07/03/2007 17:25

well ,my epedometer now says 4216, still no where near the 10,000 I am aiming for.

Better luck tomorow.

Right, I am going to continue updating my daily 'steps' on this thread. If no one else wants to join me it will become own online journal . One womans quest to shift the pregnancy bulge before returning to work.

EeyoreIsFab · 07/03/2007 19:36

Well done on reviving the thread cori! I put my pedometer on today - only done 3046 steps, but at least it gives my a target to beat!

NAB3 - yes I think you do have to wear it to get more accurate results - try putting it on and counting 100 steps to see how accurate it is.

cori · 07/03/2007 20:04

I dont think my pedometer is too good either. but will perserevere until i get a new one.

cori · 08/03/2007 22:04

I think i have walked about 5000 steps today. My pedometer is not working to well, have ordered another one from boots. Will keep the walking up even if inaccurate.

EeyoreIsFab · 09/03/2007 15:42

Only 3500 steps yesterday - forgot to put pedometer on today - try again tomorrow!

fizzbuzz · 09/03/2007 16:40

I am interested in this....BUT...I used to wear one at work (I'm a teacher) and nearly always did over 10000 steps a day

It never seemed to affect weight loss though

Does anyone know why?

EeyoreIsFab · 10/03/2007 09:41

Snap Fizzbuzz! I was actually quite surprised at the number of steps I did just walking around the classroom & to and from the hall/ staffroom. I think it doesn't really help with the weight loss because the steps taken aren't usually that 'purposeful' - or perhaps its the staffroom treats that does it!

I'm on maternity leave at the moment and was even more surprised to find out how few steps I do around the home and out to the shops each day & I just don't seem to have the time to fit in any more!

fizzbuzz · 11/03/2007 13:28

It must be areobic steps that count. BUT, if you do 10000 or more steps a day you are classed as an active person, so am somewhat confused TBH!

cori · 11/03/2007 17:37

My Pedometer is busted, so went swimming today instead

new pedometer should be here tomorrow.

Aloveheart · 11/03/2007 17:42

oo i would liek to join, where can i get a pedometer cheap????

cori · 11/03/2007 18:12

I got mine from bootsonline. I think it was about £6.00

Even though I cant be sure exactly how many steps I have been doing due to crappy freebie pefometer, I do feel a bit slimmer (dont know about actually losing weight, maybe fiter.) because I have walked the school run three times this week. and it is an hour round trip.

cori · 11/03/2007 18:16

Have a look at thewalkingsite some useful information there.
