Lots of places do pedometers, like Woolies, Boots & Argos - Millets & Blacks type shops also do them, but they can be more expensive.

I went to an exercise class this morning for the first time in almost a year - I've at least doubled my average daily steps (8056 and counting). Probably be too stiff to any tomorrow

Hey everyone. Have done 9666 steps today -woohoo !!!according to my pedometer that will burn 2567 calories, so everything I have eaten today has been negated. I think I will have some cake

Earlybird · 13/03/2007 21:12

cori - well done for walking that much. Did you find it difficult?

I wear a pedometer alot too. I've done about 38,000 steps in the last 3 days (in training), and my pedometer says that number of steps = 1576 calories burned. So, either my pedometer is off, or yours is.

Have you programmed in your weight?

cori · 14/03/2007 21:56

I think I have lost my Pedometer. I am sure I put it on this morning.
I didnt find the 10,000 steps too difficult. But there was a walk to pick DS up from school which is about an hour there and back.

Yes I did programe my weight, maybve I am just signifcantly heavier than you

The walking site says that 1 mile is equivalent to 100 cclaories. SO my five miles yesterday must have only been 500 calories. I think the reading it gave me was the metric kilocalories.

Walking site also says we should aim for 12,000 steps for weight loss.
