Vlcd starting Monday

PayAttentionNigel · 05/03/2016 13:20

Hello, just wondering if anyone else was starting soon?

I'm starting exante on Monday have 3-4 stone to loose due to my poor genetics nothing to do with my near addict like obsession with sugar and carbs, oh no
but I am determined not to be fat for yet another summer so am aiming to be happy with my weight by the end of June.

I'm going to post my weights up on here to shame myself motivate myself to stick to it! I'll weigh myself Monday morning (not looking forward to that) to start and take it from there.

Soooo anyone else up for this? or will my thread have tumbleweed blowing around it

Hi Nigel, I started Exante in Feb and am 15lbs down, have three stone to loose. If you go onto Cambridge Diet any one on it - words to that effect, there are a few of us who are on there for support and accountability - I have lost the ability to link from iPad -

Good luck, the first week is tough, but I am actually enjoying not having to stress about food. Drink loads (like four litres of water) a day and that helps!

Agree with Plum - lots of water.

Be prepared to potentially feel REALLY shitty for a couple of days, but on the other side, when the hunger disappears, it's weirdly euphoric.

Also - get as much support as possible, there's here, two Facebook groups, Instagram etc - it really helps.

Good Luck!

When you say VLCD, what is your daily target?

Exante total solution means less than 700kcals a day.

Hi Stella,

It's 600 calories a day roughly, I've got a months worth and will see how I get on with, just really need to try as I'm very unhappy with my post baby body (especially as the baby is now 1!)

Thanks for the tips Joey and Plum, I'll pop into the other thread now.

Anyhow, decided to start today and has gone ok, but weighed myself this morning, 13.1 stone, god that's depressing, would be ecstatic to get to 9 stone by the end of June but happy with 9 and a half. Not sure if I'll weigh again tomorrow or wait a week, will see how I get on :)

Hi

I started Exante yesterday too. Like you I've bought a month's worth and will see how I go.

Feeling fine so far, but spent half of last year intermittent fasting, so am used to going for extended periods of very low calorie intake.

My main reason for doing it is because I've gained a lot of weight through ill health and comfort eating and I'm most concerned about visceral fat. From what I've read VLCDs can be a good way to shift that, although obviously meal replacement diets aren't really ideal even for that.

I thought this might be the easy way to introduce myself to it and shift the first chunk of weight, before transitioning onto something that's more sustainable long-term. I'd really like to do low carb high fat, but being veggie, think it would probably involve too much food prep and at the moment I am still not well enough to stand and cook.

A big fly in the ointment for me is that I am on beta blockers, which can slow down/completely stop weight loss and in some cases even cause weight gain. I am really hoping that doesn't happen to me.

If it helps, I am exactly one stone heavier than you. Ideally I'd like to be around 10 stone, probably just over, say around 10 stone 4, as I start to look drawn if I get much below that. So that's around 4 stone to lose in all. Sad

I should add, that I am a long-term regular on MN, but have namechanged for this.

Hi veg! Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, hopefully the beta blockers aren't too much of problem, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I have to admit not having to think about food so much is a bit liberating (ha, I'm only three days in so that could quickly change!)

Plum recommended the following thread to me;

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/2529249-Cambridge-Weight-Plan-anyone-on-it-or-about-to-start-it-and-want-to-support-each-other

There are a few of us on there on exante, and the Cambridge diet etc are all pretty much the same thing so lots of support. Come on over :) it is scary thinking how much I've got to loose but sounds like we're roughly on the same track so just keep thinking how different you'll look/feel in 4 months.

I will follow you over to the other thread then.

Had Pasta Carbonara for my evening meal tonight and almost couldn't eat it, it made me retch. From the reviews I thought it would be mostly cheesy in flavour, but it had a strong smell and taste of bacon, although is actually a vegetarian product.

In the end I smothered it in rock salt and black pepper and just managed to get through it. I still have a few of those to get through, unfortunately.

I had a bad experience today with the tomato soup Envy that's a sick face there. But I've liked the other things so far so hope it's more good than bad. See you on the other thread :)
