30 Day Shred

MorelloKisses · 07/01/2016 13:51

Hi all, I know this has been done many times before, but wondered if anyone wants to join me on the 30 day shred. I started today.

I am not particularly overweight but have 6lb that I'm happier without, and can (and will) shift with MFP, but my main issue is toning, shape etc. I'm 36 and have a 2 yr old DD and it is starting to take its toll.

I want to be confident in a bikini for June, and am starting with the shred.

It is hard, and I'm going to need help to stick to it.

Ooh, just seen someone is using wine bottle instead of weights. I'm nicking that idea

So as penance for last night, I did L2 this morning. HOLY HELL!!!

I was only using water bottles for weights and I almost died, I'm sat typing this, shaking, with sweat dripping on the keyboard and panting like a rabid dog [attractive]

I am never going to be able to do this everyday at home, before work with my 2kg weights.

morello can you use tins of beans instead of weights for the first few times of L2. 2kg weights are very heavy for first starting out.
I remember level 2 from last time round- the military presses are hell but it does get easier! Level 3 is easier than 2 on some ways but maybe that's because you're stronger by the time you get there.

I did the whole thing (level 1 - 3) with 1kg weights before re starting level 2 &3 with 2kg.

It's the chair squats and "v" raises in L2 that kill me!

I think it was the jumpy planks things that really did for me

Oh I'd forgotten about the chair squats with v raises.
Might stay on level 1 a bit longer....

Can I join in too? I'm on day 8 level 1 and could use some motivation.
Has anyone noticed any changes yet? I noticed on the cool down, when you stretch to reach your ankle, day 1 I could barely get past my knee but today I actually reached my foot! It's nice to see some changes so early on

The change I've noticed is being so stiff I can barely sit down Grin going to do it again later. Will this make me ache even more?

Can I join as well? I started on monday so will complete L1D5 later on so it would be nice to have this thread to spur me on when I'm not feeling it most days

I already feel stronger though, am able to do more pushups than day one, still on my knees though and I really want to be able to do full ones.

How is everyone else finding it?

Saggingtits I ached until about day 6. So yes. But its worth it. My knees were pretty fucked tbh, couldn't even run as they hurt too much. The knee circles on the warm up made them click on day 1, but I went for a run on weds and they were fine.
I'm loving seeing results so quickly. Even though its not anything anyone else would notice, I feel healthier.

Igglepiggle stick at it. You'll feel better for it

Yes I'm going to stick with it Smile wonder when you notice body changes? Glad to hear it gets easier as still found today tough Grin Are you going to do it everyday? I'm having tomorrow off as going swimming then have work. Straight back to it on Monday though.

Reading with interest, as just bought the DVD this week from Aldi but have not opened it! Have heard good things about it, though.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't work as you definitely feel it's doing something. I think it's just a matter of sticking at it Smile

Thanks rightguard, I got off my arse and did day 5 last night and do feel better. I tried doing it with 2kg weights instead of 1kg....ouch!

Right is like to join please. I am fat and am getting married in august. I hate the way I look right now so this is my first step. I am a bit of a quitter so might need a kick up my bum every now and then ;)

Did day one today and found it hard! Only used 0.5kg weights for now.

When is everyone doing it? I need to leave the house at 7 so before then would be so early. But after work I am always tired and hungry.

WelcomeWalkWaddleRun I usually do it in the evening as I'm not a morning person. I put DS to bed at 7 then straight away put my trainers on and turn on the dvd so I don't give myself chance to sit down otherwise I wouldn't do it. By 7:40 I've done it and showered and can veg out for the evening.

Hi walkwaddlerun, I usually do it in the evening, mornings are just too hectic.

I can report that level 2 was as bad as suspected. I swore a lot, and I had a stabbing pain in my side when doing the abs. Not sure if thats the exercise working or a sign of injury.maybe its a sign that I'm not built for exercise😆

I've just done L2D2 and while I still feel like I'm dying, I don't feel as close to death as I did yesterday!

How is everyone else getting on?

I did L2 again on Sat and Monday, but L1 this morning and am going to have a rest day tomorrow.

All the plank stuff us hurting my lower back - well not the plank so much as all the moving into and when in plank...I think I'm tiring and my technique is going to pot and putting strain on.

WWR, can I suggest My Fitness Pal and eating to calories, it is really great and by August you could drop more than 3 stone (depending what you have to lose).

You are massively unlikley to change how you look with exercise alone.

Good luck

Day 1 L2 of shred and found it a lot more challenging. Had my 1kg weights at the ready just in case but managed to get through it with my usual 1.5kg ones so I'm pleased. Think my shoulders will be sore tomorrow. I have never managed to get the hang of the plank and my shoulders/arms feel so weak when I'm doing it. Is there a technique I'm missing?
