30 Day Shred

MorelloKisses · 07/01/2016 13:51

Hi all, I know this has been done many times before, but wondered if anyone wants to join me on the 30 day shred. I started today.

I am not particularly overweight but have 6lb that I'm happier without, and can (and will) shift with MFP, but my main issue is toning, shape etc. I'm 36 and have a 2 yr old DD and it is starting to take its toll.

I want to be confident in a bikini for June, and am starting with the shred.

It is hard, and I'm going to need help to stick to it.

Hi has anyone used the beginners shred?

rightgaurd that fantastic! Well done, 10lbs and loose clothes - yahooo! Whats not to like?

My clothes are definitely not pulling like they were at the start of the month, they are not loose by any means but they are not tight ;) The scales have started to move but I am unbothered by this per se, its just nice to see BMI and body fat reducing when weight drops (at least at this stage). I am pondering on what to do next, although I am only on D3 L2 so have plenty of time. I need to follow something, I am thinking maybe 6W6P, and then Lift like a man Look like a goddess, or whatever it is called, or maybe focus on running again as the weather will be warmer....Oh decisions decisions.

How are you guys getting on?

Finished!! L3d10 this morning. Lost about 10 lbs, and found my clothes fit better. Not sure what to do next, I might start running again now my knees are stronger and font hurt any more.

Keep going everyone, was a great feeling to finally finish it

So level 2 day 1 this morning, and it wasnt as horrific as it was the first time round. I remember now though that i hate the miltary presses.... I cant remember much more than that, oh yes the squats were pretty tough for me too. I will try to take more notice tomorrow,i think i may have had 'The Fear' this morning Grin

How is everyone else getting along? any lbs or cms to delare? Not very much of with er for me sadly, but i cant beleive how much better i feel, much less stodgy, and more robust, hurrah!

Jellibelli well done on getting to day 8. Are you finding it's getting easier?
Just wait til L3 and the jumping lunges. Ouch.

mrswhiskers I struggled with BFBM and the other one like it (? with 6/7 mini workouts i am of course too lazy to walk the few steps to the other room to look. ) as i found the whole thing too long and difficult and boring and just picking 3 or 4 felt i could be flakey as i wasnt doing it 'properly' anyway. I am not sure if i have Jillian's yoga - if i bought it, it would have been when i was turning flakey... Shock

So today i completed D8 of L1 30DS, just for a day or so i am looking forward to L2, then of course i will start it and wish for push ups and lunges....

How is everyone else getting on?

jelli I think I was the same when I did the shred before and bought banish fat boost metabolism but then lost motivation with that too BlushI've also got Jillian's yoga meltdown
I think I've got 6 week 6 pack on my Amazon wish list along with ripped in 30 so might order those too for some variety.

rightguard well done, you must be so pleased...?

Still no battery for my scales (perhaps ill remember this afternoon when i pop out). Completed L1 day 7 and can notice the difference from day one in how much easier i can manage and how the range and quality of movement has improved. When I did this the first time round, i first notice the flab melting from under my bust and sure enough i can feel it changing again there now, hurrah!

Mrswhiskers when i tried mixing the levels up after the 30 days were done, i struggled to remain quite so motivated, so i ended up buying six week six pack and found that easier to stick with. Just a thought, but hopefully you'll be more self disciplined than i am!

Just a quick update. I am still shredding 3 days a week. Started level 3 this week and managed ok. Still having trouble with the lunges, I can only jump during the first set and have to step during the second set.
The rest I am manage ok. DH joined me last night and I managed better than him which I was quite pleased about as he is much fitter and stronger than me generally. I don't think he was expecting it to be quite so hard!
I found the move from level 2-3 easier than the move from 1-2. I plan to do another 3 days of level 3 this week and then alternate between all the levels and maybe increase the size of my weights to 2.5 kg where I can.
Good to see a few new people joining the thread. Smile

I'm still going, level 3 day 3. I've been using my fitness pal too which has helped massively. I've lost 10lbs and I didn't measure before I started but definitely seeding some definition in my stomach and my waist have shrunk a bit.

Jellibelli · 03/02/2016 21:16

All going to plan so far. I know the workout pretty well so i have found that having it on the iPad while i watch the tv is working well for me, it all seems to go much more quickly. I reward myself with my breakfast in front of the tv afterwards (before dashing round like a mad thing getting ready for work).

I've been sticking with my fitness pal too, as i find that focuses things me and completely discourages me from eating something i shouldn't, which is great. It makes it easy to think, no i really don't want to, so i won't. Making an effort to eat breakfast is great and stopping me from having just a muffin and coffee for breakfast at work Wink

I haven't bought a battery yet, and i haven't measured. Perhaps i should take a phot this time, i regretted not taking one last time - before my efforts. I am really looking forward to being slim again and feeling energised, fit and well.

How's everyone else doing?

Hi all, hope you don't mind if I join in. I'be been meaning to get going with 30DS for a while. I managed to do up to the end of level 1 before Christmas but then got a tad distracted and have now put on all the weight I lost! Got MFP sorted out today so going to get back on with that. I know I'll be ok once I get going but I'm rubbish at sticking to things so hoping posting here my help me stay motivated; would love to do the whole 30 days as I've got a holiday in March!

Great to see so many new people on the thread! How is everyone doing? Morello, MrsW, Lyn: are you still at it?

I'm halfway through week two of ripped .. Just ordered some heavier weights so might continue on this level a while longer while I try them out.

Hi jellibelli how did day one go? I did day 2 today and am starting to feel sore!im also combing it with mfp and 5:2 which is what worked for me last time round. I need to go full on to see results, if I take it slow and the loss is gradual I give up! In a strange sort of way I enjoyed the work out this morning, I've definitely had more energy the last couple of days which is encouraging me to carry on!28 days to go!

Jellibelli · 01/02/2016 18:22

Can i join the group please?

I did 30DS L1D1 today and intend to do all 30 days! Tomorrow will be my test to get out of bed and get it done before work. I like my bed...

I have a selection of Jillian DVDs which i worked my way through a few years ago, but i have been lax and eating has slipped too. So now i need to shift some weight again. My scales have no battery but i am guessing 15-20 pounds to shift. I will get a battery tomorrow and will measure with a measuring tape tomorrow too, as Jillian shrinks me more than lightens me.

I started myfitnesspal today too, it said its been a while. Its not wrong!

Hi everyone can I join? I'm going to start the 30day shred tomorrow morning!im going to get up at 6 so I can get it done and shower before the dc wake up. I'm hoping for more energy, half a stone off and to fit in my jeans again! Will post my stats after work tonight, going to take some photos too as last time I did the shred (3years ago!) I wished I had!

That's fab Ellen! I'm hoping the shred will have the same results here. Cant do a pushup at all and sit-ups are impossible!

Just thought I'd check in and its great to see so many more people on the thread!

I've now started Ripped (level 1). Its not so different to the shred so far, although given that level 1 includes full on press ups I have a feeling it might get nasty later on!

Mrs Whiskers - have you tried planking in your elbows instead of your hands? That's how I have always done it previously and it really works your core but a bit less tough on the arms.(disclaimer - I am certainly no fitness expert!)

Keep going everyone! If anyone needs motivation/proof of results I have never been able to do even one press up before in my whole life and can now do 10! That's got to be good, right?

Please can I join your gang? Grin

I did 30DS last year before going on holiday, and it's the best I've looked in years. Everything's slipped back to where it was before though, so I've started it early this year (not going on hols until June), and I want to make it a lifestyle change, not just a means to looking semi-ok when I'm on holiday.

I'm doing an "Ultimate Weight Loss and Toning" class (basically HIIT) and a Pilates class one night per week, and 30DS most other days. I've missed a few days because of irregular working hours, so yesterday was L1D7.

Now, if I could just stop stuffing my face with crap I might be halfway to actually making a difference!

I've just started this. Did the first level on Saturday but made the mistake of then going for a nearly two hour walk and felt entirely obliterated yesterday. Had a session with a pt today and did different exercise then am really going to try to make myself get up early tomorrow to do the shred again. I have 20kg to lose and absolutely no strength in my middle so hoping this will help!

mrswhiskers · 20/01/2016 10:38

Day 1 L2 of shred and found it a lot more challenging. Had my 1kg weights at the ready just in case but managed to get through it with my usual 1.5kg ones so I'm pleased. Think my shoulders will be sore tomorrow. I have never managed to get the hang of the plank and my shoulders/arms feel so weak when I'm doing it. Is there a technique I'm missing?

Report
MorelloKisses · 19/01/2016 20:58

WWR, can I suggest My Fitness Pal and eating to calories, it is really great and by August you could drop more than 3 stone (depending what you have to lose).

You are massively unlikley to change how you look with exercise alone.

Good luck

I did L2 again on Sat and Monday, but L1 this morning and am going to have a rest day tomorrow.

All the plank stuff us hurting my lower back - well not the plank so much as all the moving into and when in plank...I think I'm tiring and my technique is going to pot and putting strain on.
