Sorry if stepping on toes. But couldn't see another thread. Anybody want to join me? I guess the idea is that some weeks you loose a bit more and some weeks you gain but aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me.

I still have a long way to go too rince, I'm only 5ft 2. I'm scared to tell people my goal weight (9st 7) as other people have said I'm being unrealistic Confused. But I guess all I can do is prove them wrong.

This week the weather is lovely the sun is shining and it's starting to feel warmer. I want it to hold off a while though until I shift some weight from my legs they haven't changed!

Madwoman how is your friend?

Havalina1 · 25/02/2016 10:42

I weighed myself - 152.2 so it is creeping up from 150.4 two weeks ago. Just shows you.

I don't want to undo the bit I have lost. House move is underway and sleep is still a dirty word in this house.

On a great note the baby is 5 months old today! And I'm going to dig out my running leggings and think about it :)

madwomanbackintheattic · 25/02/2016 14:37

Lol at thinking about it, hav. I am doing a lot of that!
Thanks for asking - she is doing... Okay. Physically she is fine, and there is no liver damage. They are keeping her in the hospital and looking for a psych placement to do more extensive assessments. I have long been convinced she has undx bipolar and they are finally digging deeper and not just prescribing her anti-ds and sending her home. She is actively resisting going home anyway and is in the acute care ward while they look for a bed for her. We are in a teeny tiny town, so it will be somewhere else - could be miles away. I spent about an hour and a half with her after work today. It's so frustrating - while she is in a residential unit she is fine - the minute she has to look after herself, she falls apart totally.

So what with all the dashing about and stress and lack of sleep, the food rules went totally out of the window. I don't dare weigh myself until Monday and need to haul it all back together as I have no doubt those 2 lbs are back on. Being kind to myself though. It's a journey.

The whole thing has made me think though - after I saw her yesterday I popped to the store to pick up a few things for her and v carefully selected some stuff that would both be of some benefit but maybe make her laugh a little too - crappy sleb gossip magazines, but also a yoga mag, a meditation mag (who even knew such things existed), a yoga mat, some really good quality dark choc, and some mood mist spritzer stuff, some soothing lavender hand cream/ moisturiser, a word search book. She was supposed to find a yoga studio and whatnot as part of her addiction recovery but didn't. We live in a crazy town where you can buy yoga stuff in the grocery store but not find the milk, that kinda thing Grin And as I went back to the hospital last night to drop it off after taxiing the kids, it struck me that I would never do that sort of thing for myself. Somewhere along the line we should be showing the same amount of care to ourselves as we do to other people... and I was a bit sad that so often we don't. We deserve it too.

Good luck with the house move hav! Exciting stuff!

An amazing thing happened yesterday evening, someone noticed I had lost weight!

Hello may I join? I've been doing this and lost 8lbs since January 5th. I'm going to SW and exercising more. My downfalls are wine and crisps. Wink

NantucketNightbird · 26/02/2016 14:02

Hi stellar and welcome Smile it's great to have someone new, there's not many of us left. I'm just doing my own plan but I need to up the exercise.

Thanks Nan, yes I have jumped over from another thread that's going by the wayside but I like the support, ideas and banter from fellow people.

madwomanbackintheattic · 26/02/2016 15:37

Oo well done nan! Lovely that you got a wee bit of recognition for your efforts!

As it has been such a monumentally shit week I have taken the day off. I need to buy groceries so that I can climb back on the wagon. Even dd1 was whinging this morning as there is no fruit in the house. (Apparently the grapes didn't taste right, and they were all that's left). She took sliced peppers in her lunch, and eyerolled all the way to the bus stop. Got paid overnight though, so that helps!!

I am a crisps gal, stellar. Gone right off the wine as dealing with alcoholic friend in crisis, and that has made it curiously unpalatable!! I figure by summer I'll be ready to sit in the garden with a glass but right now it's the last thing I fancy!

madwomanbackintheattic · 26/02/2016 15:38

I am really missing the UK this week. Having a wee homesick moment. Boo.

Rinceoir · 27/02/2016 08:32

Welcome Stellar. Congrats Nan! I really need to up the exercise. This week I've focused on getting 10k steps a day. Travelling today- planning to have a substantial meal before and after flight and avoid airport food. While simultaneously trying to convince my food shy toddler to have a decent high calorie meal.

Havalina1 · 27/02/2016 09:18

Madwoman
(I feel bad calling you that!!)

It's so true, God, hope she's alright. Is she aware of her own situation or is she in denial about it all? Your village sounds hilarious by the way!

Hello there - how are you doing?

Havalina1 · 27/02/2016 09:22

I never get to post as my 2yo daughter constantly has my phone, or if she sees me with it she demands it! I feel bad I'm not keeping up, but I am reading!

The move is underway, we are living in mess, plastic bag and boxes everywhere and I've to pack bags for the two littles and myself for Ireland! Actually relieved I'm stepping away from this chaos as there is a leak in the new house that's not fixed yet so carpets are not laid and water is still off!

NantucketNightbird · 27/02/2016 09:59

I don't envy you moving hav, the last time we moved 18mnths ago I was a wreck. I put on about a stone in three weeks!
I haven't really done any exercise apart from walking the school run and using the trampette. I keep meaning to go swimming but DH works 4-11 (am) and whenever I leave him to watch the 3yr old or any of them for that matter I come back to a tip. So after swimming and the 2 mile walk home to have to sort the house out it wears me out. Plus I have pernicious anaemia which doesn't help. Not making excuses honestly Wink

People keep suggesting getting a Fitbit thingee... What do you think? Anyone use one?

Havalina1 · 27/02/2016 11:09

Nantucket

I know!!!! If I leave the lo's with daddy he acts like a hero, declares the job easy, while I look in despair at the mess all round, and yoghurt given as a main meal Confused

NantucketNightbird · 27/02/2016 12:59

Definitely except here it was once a packet of chocolate fingers each!

Stellar67 · 27/02/2016 14:46

Hello everyone, thanks for the welcome.

I have a Fitbit. I like it a lot.
Good luck with the move Hav. Mad, I also love cheese!

I completely get the kids, DH and mess scenario. I felt the same way, but now I go out to the gym class or whatever and come home and tell everyone their jobs WinkIt seems to be working.

NantucketNightbird · 27/02/2016 16:01

I don't think I would have the confidence to attend a gym. But I love swimming. Struggling for the first time really today I'm so hungry just want to eat lots of anything

OP posts:
madwomanbackintheattic · 27/02/2016 23:55

Mm mm. Cheese.
I have a Fitbit charge. I bought a 'one' last August but didn't really do much with it, just used it to track what I was doing iyswim, but at Christmas I decided to buy dh and I matching Fitbit charges and an Aria scale as his Christmas present (I did get him something else as well lol). SIL and the ILs were visiting over Christmas too. SIL is desperately overweight (and hey, I'm no skinny minnie having 3 stone to lose) and was quite despondent, but we had talked about a few things, and motivation and stuff, and on impulse I went out last thing on Christmas Eve and bought her one as well. Dh was terrified that I was about to start WWIII - but of course he didn't know that he was getting one as well bahahaha.
Anyway, SIL was chuffed, and so since Chrismtas we have been in a little Fitbit group, challenging each other most weeks, and she is finding it pretty motivating and the weight is slowly coming off.

I really only use mine for steps and to monitor my sleep (which is shocking) but if I could be bothered I could use it to calorie count and whatnot as well. I know some people use it to track water intake too.

They are very clever. I know I am not using mine to the full extend, but I am still pleased that they are working out for the purpose I bought them. I often find myself walking about to reach my step goal instead of vegetating on the sofa. And of course, that means I am not sitting eating cheese and crackers Wink

We have the highest percentage of Olympians per capita in our wee town than anywhere else in the world. True dat. It is BONKERS here. They keep going into the schools and parading their medals and the kids just eye roll. Another one? But all the kids are hardcore athletes and swimming or playing(ice) hockey at 5am before school, or spending the weekends ski racing. Fortunately, we moved her way too late for mine to get properly involved, although dd2 (dc3) is going to her first para ski race in two weeks Grin

Being fat here is something of a novelty, anyway... There aren't many of us around... Blush

madwomanbackintheattic · 27/02/2016 23:57

Nan, I was like that last weekend. There is something about weekends that I find tricky in terms of eating... Can you find something distracting to do?

madwomanbackintheattic · 28/02/2016 00:00

Oh, and I gave my 'one' to dd1. So she is in our Fitbit group too. Being 16 and dancing a billion hours a day, she wipes the floor with the rest of us in step terms. But it's a nice way for her and her aunt to stay in touch too (there is a message facility for the group so we can all send each other cheers or taunts - we might live in different countries, but Fitbit is a way we have daily contact - bizarre!)

Rinceoir · 28/02/2016 07:55

I'd love a Fitbit, but feel I need to do more exercise to justify it! I'm back from my trip, spent yesterday evening meal planning and online shopping so no excuses for the week ahead!

Stellar67 · 28/02/2016 09:24

I'm doing evening meal plans today. What's on yours rince?

Mad that is lovely that you all keep in touch through Fitbit. We had a group that had formed on Facebook but we've dwindled to two.

Rinceoir · 28/02/2016 10:03

Sweet potato shepherds pie (BBC good food), salmon with harissa and pea puree, lentil quinoa chilli (www.rte.ie/lifestyle/food/recipes/2015/1118/747993-super-power-chilli-with-charred-corn-salsa/), Jamie Oliver hit and run chicken traybake and a chicken, quinoa and brocolli bake (www.independent.ie/life/food-drink/recipes/chicken-broccoli-and-quinoa-bake-30564990.html). That's 7 days food, with a few meals eaten twice and some freezer food.
