New thread ... let's see if we can get back into our stride again this week.

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 16/12/2006 21:34

She's there until at least 9th January though, so if we could get an address for her it might still be worth sending some stuff.

I'd just like to make things a bit nicer for her while she's waiting to come home

I guess the one consolation is that she will definitely be coming home with Daniel - that has to make it all worth while.

Talking of Sue ... can I just remind everyone who's contributed to send me a little message for her that I can put in with the thingummijig. I've got a couple, but it would be nice to get one from everyone to put into a little scrapbook or something to go with the you-know-what.

JackieNoHoHo · 16/12/2006 21:36

. I know. Sorry. Told you I was very bad at that sort of thing. Will do it.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 16/12/2006 22:13

oh was just coming here to say sue had updated. poor old SUe!

Dottydotthehalls · 17/12/2006 09:36

WWB - doesn't seem right that you have to spend Christmas day with people that are going to stress you out... Is it just Christmas day with the in-laws or longer? Hopefully you can have a fun boxing day?!

We're doing christmas day with the in-laws and then boxing day with my Mum and brother and I feel lucky that this means lots of shared childcare and meals cooked for me!

Am most looking forward to Monday though - ds2's Christmas concert in the morning and Ds1's Christmas play in the afternoon. So I've taken the day off work and intend to spend it in very proud Mummy tears!

FauveGoldRings · 17/12/2006 10:07

Have finally sent you my message for Sue, WWB

WigWamBam · 17/12/2006 18:50

I'll be fine, Dotty ... I can be more than a match for the MIL if I need to be It's just Christmas day, but it's the drive that will be really annoying; just as dd wants to settle down to play with her new toys we have to get in the car and drive for two hours.

I hope you enjoy your play - it was dd's last week and I sobbed and sniffed my way through the entire thing

Fauve, I got your message yesterday - thanks. I guess there's not so much rush for the rest now that Sue is stuck over there but it would still be nice to get it all done and dusted.

littlemistletoesensible · 18/12/2006 12:18

Did you get my message WWB?

WigWamBam · 18/12/2006 12:40

I got your cheque, LMS, but there wasn't a message for Sue with it (unless it was very well hidden )

littlemistletoesensible · 18/12/2006 14:00

Ooops! So busy I probably forgot to include one! But as long as you got the chq I'll stop panicing!

I'll maybe try and get a message in the post to you in the next day or so - if i can find the time before flying off to the freezing North to see Santa!

littlemistletoesensible · 18/12/2006 14:04

Still I won't feel the cold because I've got my own insulation . At least thats what my mum said.....She's joking of course (at least I think she is) but it doesn't help!

WigWamBam · 18/12/2006 14:05

Sorry, I thought I'd emailed you to let you know I had it ... my brain isn't what it used to be. Neither is my Brian, but that's another story

In the New Year would be fine, since it looks as if Sue isn't going to be back in the next few weeks.

WigWamBam · 18/12/2006 14:06

Those comments don't do much for the self-esteem, do they - no matter how well-meant.

PortAndLemonaid · 18/12/2006 14:09

The West London thread is planning to get together an emergency parcel of DVDs/books/etc (stuff that doesn't weigh too much as we have to pay to get it out there and then Sue will need to take it out within her baggage allowance). for Almaty. Cheapest courier service we've found so far is £90, I think. We could all go in together?

littlemistletoesensible · 18/12/2006 15:17

My mum is fantastic at 'un-helpful' comments and I'm never completely sure that she didn't mean to be nasty!

Dh and I are naturists, a fact we kept quiet about for ages!! when I eventually told her (got fed up with inventing excuses for why we couldn't come round on sunny weekends!) she said only 'Fat and Ugly people did that sort of thing!' I know it was her inner prude speaking but it didn't do much for my confidence!

Port&Lemonade i don't mind chipping in a small amount towards postage etc if someone wants to e-mail details....its gailatretailefficiency.co.uk

JackieNoHoHo · 18/12/2006 15:57

Ditto - I've added a message to the thread you linked to, portandlemonaid.

WigWamBam · 20/12/2006 17:05

Can I come and have a whingy moan please ...

Dd has come home from school today with chicken pox.

Last day of term, Christmas just around the corner, stacks to do ... and we're confined to barracks with the ruddy pox.

JackieNoHoHo · 20/12/2006 19:26

Oh no WWB - poor you. What a PITA. Might it mean you can't go and see MIL for Christmas day... (silver linings and all that)? How is she feeling? Is it the grumpy stage, or the itchy stage?

I did weigh earlier, but didn't have time to post - I've stayed the same.

FauveGoldRings · 20/12/2006 20:24

It could be all over bar the shouting by Monday, WWB, if that's any help. With mine, it only lasted a few days. I remember putting them in the bath with bicarbonate of soda to ease the itching; but they weren't particularly under the weather with it.

Bad luck, though - it's the last thing you want, isn't it? Can you negotiate with yourself to just have one or two small pieces of the G&B? (Ha, ha, like I'd do that...)

WigWamBam · 20/12/2006 22:01

Oh, I really hope it's all over bar the shouting by Monday! It would be such a shame for her to be feeling rotten when she's looked forward to Christmas so much.

She's at the feeling rotten and itchy stage - the spots only came out today, so they're not blistered or anything, just very itchy. I gave her a bath with a handful of oatmeal in the foot of some tights earlier which seemed to help with the itching. She's alternating between lying on the sofa feeling rotten and jumping on the bed feeling fine ... and she's been sleeping OK too, which is a good thing. I await the grumpy stage with bated breath ... treat jostles with treat

I managed to resist the temptation of the Green and Blacks [saintly emoticon] but I'm not sure I'll be able to hold out for the next few days!

I had already thought that the silver lining to this particular cloud might be avoidance of the MIL ... mean old mummy

Dottydotthehalls · 21/12/2006 09:08

Sorry - forgot to post yesterday - 1lb off!!

WWB - that's such a pain - children have great timing don't they... Hopefully it's a mild case (ds1 only had a handful of spots and it was all over in a couple of days. Won't talk about ds2 though..!). Fingers crossed she feels OK and you're able to resume all Christmas activity soon!

WigWamBam · 21/12/2006 09:17

She's still in bed and I'm not about to wake her up yet! She's at least had a good night's sleep, which is a plus ...

We're rather thin on the ground again this week ... must be the time of year.

DottyDot: -1lb (total 14.5lb)
Fauve: -2lb (total 16lb)
JackieNo: stayed the same (total 33lb)
WWB: -1lb (total 20lb)

So the crown goes to Fauve, but I think we all deserve to give ourselves a little pat on the back for still being here and still going in a generally downwards direction!
