Good to see you, Dyrne. What a lot you're dealing with, and it's no wonder you fell off the wagon a bit, but you've stopped the spiral so a big well done for that. Glad that you're in a better headspace now. All good vibes to you and yours.

No internet! What a crisis, Stellar. It's weird that it's actually difficult to imagine life before internet, but it's not really that long ago. But yes, it can certainly be a time suck. Good to hear your back is better.

Dyrne · 28/04/2016 22:40

Hi both, it feels good to be back on track. :)

It looks like I havent been the only one with stresses - i'm glad your back's better, Stellar. No internet! Shock I'd probably be mega productive without the distraction, too!

Have had another good couple of days, food wise, and i'm starting to be a bit more active. I know what you both mean about motivation returning with the better weather - I actually wanted To get out of the house for a quick walk after dinner today!

Currently watching the Secret Life of Puppies and getting seriously dog-broody...

Stellar67 · 29/04/2016 07:43

That's good Dyrne. Especially going for a walk. Are you going to get a dog?

We've had snow. Still snowing. It's not bad. We just get on. (Not jogging though) I have got a cold though and I just want to feed it!

I'm getting fed up with MFP now pippi. What shall I try next? What wonderful diet have you stumbled on lately?

Wonder how brains is. She wasn't in a great place when she took a sabbatical.

I said to DH yesterday we should turn off the internet once a week for a day. It's liberating. He looked at me like I'd asked him for a kidney!

I saw a thread by Brains elsewhere on the board that she'd started a couple of weeks ago, and she's had some serious issues in her personal life. Worried about her.

I have no fad at the moment, but have got back into walking, and that's making a difference. Had a long walk with a friend yesterday. We did stop for lunch but went for the healthy prawn salad option. Just don't mention the chocolate cake we then shared, but it was a flourless cake so that's low carbing, right?

Will get out walking again today as we have no off-putting snow, so no excuses.

Well done for getting back on track, Dyrne.

Stellar67 · 29/04/2016 15:43

Oh no. Worried for her too. She's got so much going on just now.

Walking is great isn't it, especially if you have someone to walk along with. And stop for lunch with. Sounds great. And you sound happy.

Our snow had gone now. We will probably have t shirts on in an hour or so. Weather is bonkers.

I'm still sneezing. On the red nose stage of it so should be gone in a few days. I hope. Port helps. Smile

I've come here to hide for a minute as I need to avoid being drawn in to a thread where there is an interesting discussion to be had, but where there's also a dose of greedy lazy fat people just need to exercise some self-control. I can't speak for everyone of course, but I've never thought of that before...

It's interesting though, that as my blood pressure rose, my urge for chocolate did too. But going out for a walk instead. I'll let more articulate people take up the cuddles. The sun has broken through the clouds so it should be quite pleasant.

I think I'll pm, Brains, although I don't want to be intrusive and stalky so I'm in two minds.

pippistrelle · 29/04/2016 16:40

Cudgels, not cuddles. Although maybe I could just hug them until they agree they're being counter-productive. Take that!

Stellar67 · 29/04/2016 19:58

Are you still in hiding. I am monosyllabic with tiredness now so I have no idea what you are hiding from .

Yy to pm brains, I haven't seen her thread, but I am worrying more now. Send her WineFlowers and hugs from me.

OP posts:
pippistrelle · 29/04/2016 21:01

I've walked off my aggravation with the thread that was winding me up and stepped away both literally and metaphorically.

I have pm'ed Brains and passed on your good wishes. I hope she'll check in.

pippistrelle · 29/04/2016 21:02

Oh, and I hope you have a restful weekend ahead.

Stellar67 · 29/04/2016 21:55

Thanks Pippi. I shall take stalker credit blame with you.

Have a lovely weekend.

Stellar no dog for me unfortunately - DP wont even agree to get a cat so absolutely no chance of a dog :(

The weather has been random here too (SE) - managed to get out for a short walk at lunch at least which was good (especially since this evening has consisted of very sugary flavoured cider!)

I've not really engaged with these forums beyond this thread, sad to hear brains is having a rough time Sad

Probably a good thing I havent seen that thread you were avoiding, Pippi. On paper, "eat less, move more" sounds simple; but I think on this thread we all know it isnt that easy! Good call on going for a walk rather than diving for the chocolate.

Dyrne · 01/05/2016 10:10

Just checking in, weighed in today - feeling very chuffed with myself as I have officially lost 2.9kg in the last week - that's 6lbs! Obviously can't expect that progress every week but it's just the boost I needed to prove I haven't ruined everything by being off the wagon for 2 months.

Off to celebrate a friend's 30th today - at a mini festival local to her (will be raving it up to 5ive later on, woo!). I'm driving so have removed the temptation to drink all day, so now I just need to try and figure out which of the greasy food stalls offers the least calorific option (have already checked and can't bring my own food, d'oh!). Fingers crossed the weather stays good for it!

Hope you guys are doing well.

Stellar67 · 02/05/2016 17:51

Well done Dyrne! I have not been great. Still feeding the cold.

Also still bloating from some foods. Been on the go for a while. And mainly flour based products. I eat mostly gluten free stuff. But I'm thinking I'll try a bit of low carbing for a bit to avoid the bloat. And because I'm bored on MFP. Change is as good as a rest.

Anyway got to read up on it all so it sinks in.

Hope everyone enjoying the bank holiday.

OP posts:
pippistrelle · 03/05/2016 08:48

That's brilliant, Dyrne.

Hoping to emulate you this week. No excuses. Weather improving, big in-law thing over (so, of course, much booze was required: I rarely drink actually so it was slightly... messy), time to get serious. Probably via the medium of low'ish carbing too, Stellar. Hence the omelette for breakfast today. I see there's one of the Low Carb Bootcamp things starting in a couple of weeks, and I'm sort of contemplating signing up for. I need to get over to the thread and start reading up on it properly. Not sure if full weight disclosure is required and I'm still stupidly secretive about that.

Stellar67 · 03/05/2016 09:28

I've signed up for that!

I have also got a little book, and written down the rules and scoured for recipes I'll like.

If you don't want to disclose your weight you can start at 100 and say you loose 4lbs, you minus that from the 100. If that makes sense .

OP posts:
pippistrelle · 03/05/2016 09:40

Index linked weight loss! I like it.

I think I'll take a look at the old threads for the rules and see if I think it's do-able for me before signing up. Also, must check how long they last.

Dyrne · 03/05/2016 19:43

Thanks guys! Glad you're getting some mojo back, and hopefully you'll get a good weight loss boost from the low carb bootcamp. I've taken a quick look, but I just love carbs way too much to be able to sustain that way of eating! Will happily be a cheerleader for you though, Stellar, and you too, Pippi, if you go for it.

Maybe I can catch the next one in a couple of months once i've changed jobs and can plan all my meals in advance?

I'm loving the weather at the moment - managed to have another walk at lunch today.

Am off to a Thai restaurant tomorrow for a friend's birthday, need to go scour the menu tonight to figure out what i'm going to eat!

Stellar67 · 04/05/2016 08:01

Enjoy the Thai food Dyrne.
I have to admit after looking through my diary I am now really worried about the low carb boot camp. I have my birthday & DS birthday.
Hmmm.

OP posts:
Dyrne · 05/05/2016 20:44

No Thai food for me in the end - had pub grub instead so got to sit out lside in the beer garden in the sunshine yesterday!

Oh dear with the double whammy of birthdays during boot camp, Stellar - low carb isnt really something you can have cheat days on either really? Oh well, if you do go for it hopefully you'll still get a good boost to the weight loss before the birthdays?

Been walking three times today Shock One 20 min walk before work, one 20 min walk at lunch; and a 1 hour walk once I got home (with a recovering DP though so very slow and not going far, doubt that one burnt many calories! Still nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine).

Dyrne · 11/05/2016 14:26

Just checking in since this was about to drop off page one Shock

Lost another Kg last week. This week going OK - slipped just over my calorie allowance yesterday due to the 2 ciders AND an ice cream, but managing a Fast Day well today.

Hope everyone else is doing OK - how are the preparations for Low Carb Bootcamp?

Stellar67 · 11/05/2016 14:55

Good going Dyrne!

Sorry I've been hiding from the low carb Grin

I'm okay though, getting back to jogging slowly. Out of a job for now. Considering OU. Will be skint but I'm fed up. What job can I do at home? I can't get childcare for DS (ASD) so I've worked at home but contract ended and no others in pipeline from home.

OP posts:
Dyrne · 14/05/2016 18:33

Oh crikey that's annoying Stellar - it's so difficult to find a suitable job working from home. DP works from home in IT l/Business stuff but even that's not the sort to accomodate any sort of childcare - he's constantly on conference calls and presenting etc. Fingers crossed you sort something out. I've heard good things about the OU, but it seems really pricey nowadays!

This week hasnt gone too well, bit annoyed at myself. No massive binges, just things like an extra couple of beers here and there that have added up Sad

Stellar67 · 15/05/2016 16:30

You can't be good everyday Dyrne. It's okay to have a couple of treats. Not go mad.
I've been a bit fed up of it all lately. But I did a 5k and I'm back in the mood.
Hope Pippi and Brains are well.
