Hi everyone

Happy New Year

Finally got our PC back up and running - it normally lives in our dining room and we had so many people to fit in for Christmas dinner that it had to go!

I'm back up to weight I was when this thread started, put on about 4-5lbs over the holidays, thanks to too much choc, wine, mince pies. Starting again from tomorrow. Good luck everyone

Happy new year everyone
Looking forward to getting back on track with our 10lb challenge. I feel so bloated from all the crap Iv'e been eating.
Anyway glad to hear you all had a nice christmas. I did too. We had christmas eve and christmas day at my mums then drove up to newcastle to stay with dps family for the week. It was very nice, lots of alcahol and good food.
Today was day one for me. Iv'e kind of eased my way back into it.
Rivita with lowfat spread and peanut butter for breakfast.
W/m pasta with tinned tomato onion and garlic for tea and a slice of toast.
Not great but ok. Have also drank 2 liters of water today.
My appetites grown so much. I need to work at shrinking it with small portions.
Good luck everyone.

MrsFish · 02/01/2007 10:44

Well I am back to what I was when I started too. Diet didn't start on friday like I was hoping, in fact had a very heavy few days. Had a huge shock when I got on the scales this morning. Am going to spend the next couple of days having low ones then weigh myself on friday for a proper starting weight to start again.

Here we go again, story of my life, lose it, put it back on again, lose it, put it back on, does annoy me that it goes back on so easy and such a struggle to lose it

lornaloo · 02/01/2007 18:07

Don't worry Mrs Fish you'll lose what you put on over christmas soon enough. I think we all put back on what we lost. Thats just christmas for you, over indulging and paying for it later.
So shall we all weigh in on fri with how much weve put on/lost and go from there? That gives us a couple of days damage control.

loopity · 02/01/2007 19:07

Sounds good to me lornaloo - just hope I can be good until weigh-in. I have a wedding on the 20th of this month and would need to have a few lbs shifted by then.

OP posts:
loopity · 02/01/2007 23:22

Finding it difficult to eat sensibly again - our cupboards are still full of Christmassy type food. Am going to sort them out tomorrow and get all the choccy etc out of sight, then go to shops and get lots of healthy stuff in. Dreading Friday's weigh-in already
Have joined the "no booze in January" thread as well as think I could defo save a few cals by ditching the wine for a while. How's everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
lornaloo · 03/01/2007 00:00

I haven't been shopping for ages so have nothing healthy in the house either. Just chocolate chocolate and more chocolate. I'm going to get lots of healthy stuff in tomorrow and be very good......hopefully.
I'm going to try and do a workout dvd everyday too.
Loopity I might do that 3 day detox to help kick start the diet. Do you fancy doing it too?

loopity · 03/01/2007 13:39

Lornaloo, I'm willing to do a 3day detox blast with you if you want. Will scroll down the thread to find our last one and paste it on here for us and anyone else who wants to join in with it.

Ah, here it is, this is going to be a very, very long post now so apologies...

Day One

Breakfast - 50g bowlful of oatbased muesli with 100ml orange juice poured over (I might have porridge with skimmed milk instead as muesli in our cupboard has wheat in it plus muesli and oj sounds minging!) topped with chopped apple, melon and orange (or made as separate fruit salad)

Lunch is 1 large bowlful of homemade veg soup plus rice-cake.

Dinner - Large plateful of steamed veg with poached salmon steak. Plenty of water/herbal tea

Day Two

Breakfast - 200ml natural yoghurt, 25g muesli plus chopped fruit

Lunch - large salad of mixed leaves, half sliced avocado, dressing - 2tsp olive oil and 1 tsp lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. Top with 4 almonds and 1 level tbsp walnut halves

Dinner - Stuffed pepper - remove stalk and lid from med red pepper, remove seeds and pith, place in microwaveable dish and cook for 4-5 mins on high. Meanwhile, mix together 3tbsp cooked brown rice, 1 level dsp pine nuts, 1 sml stick finely chopped celery, 1 tsp each chopped fresh parsley and mint, 1tsp mild chopped chilli, 1 chopped spring onion, black pepper and 1 tbsp houmous. Fill pepper, drizzle over 2tsp olive oil and return to microwave for 5 mins on med high. This was yummy!

Day Three

Breakfast - fruit smoothie with natural yoghurt

Lunch - 1 large bowlful veg soup and rice cake

Dinner - baked sweet potato, halved and served on mixed salad leaves. Drizzle with olive oil and add half an avocado. 4 almonds and 3 brazil nuts.

I'll try to stick to it as best I can but may modify it slightly. Are you on for starting tomorrow?

lornaloo · 03/01/2007 17:35

Sorry to hear you had a rotten christmas mummydoc. Hope your dd is better now. Ds was ill over christmas too. Couln't work out if he had a tummy bug or was just suffering badly with his teething. He's much better now though.
Yes am definitly up for starting the detox tomorrow. I just got back from the shop, got loads of fruit and veg so I'm good to go. Although I did buy some skimmed milk to try instead of semi skimmed. Were not ment to be having milk are we?

Marls001 · 04/01/2007 02:22

Thanks; am feeling so much better as of yesterday! Just feels good to be able to eat breakfast again.
I lose my appetite late in the day, but always wake up ravenous.

3 packs of oatmeal and side of skim milk this morning. Half Caesar salad w/chicken for lunch; vegetable soup for dinner. A few pieces of candy and a few chocolate-covered pecans (another nice treat we receved - sigh). Dreading weigh-in on Friday as well, but must do it, bad news or no.
Did go running yesterday and gym today. Jan. is a great time to lose weight!!

Marls001 · 04/01/2007 02:24

Mummydoc - Glad things are better, though.

lornaloo · 04/01/2007 10:34

Morning everyone.
Its really anoying having to diet to lose weight that wasn't there a few weeks ago.
Anyway.
I had porridge this morning with skimmed milk. I don't think were ment to have dairy on the detox.

loopity · 04/01/2007 10:44

Morning all

Lornaloo, I'm having porridge with milk too! Will still be consuming much lower cals and eating healthy foods so I'm not going to worry too much about having a little dairy . Weighed myself today and I'm 9st 12lbs so 1lb less than I was when we all started! Have consoled myself though that we did lose some weight before Christmas and really enjoyed putting it back on

Good luck for today everyone. Official weigh-in day tomorrow, eek! That's when I'll definitely feel I'm back on the diet wagon again.

lornaloo · 04/01/2007 10:49

Oh yeah. Its friday tomorrow aaaah. This week went fast. I'm dreading it.

LUCYMARIE · 04/01/2007 10:55

HI LORNS,

I ALSO HAD PORRIDGE THIS MORN AND GRATED SOME APPLE INTO IT WITH A SMALL HELPING OF MIXED SEEDS, WAS YUMMY

MrsFish · 04/01/2007 16:54

Well I have just got back from the gym, did 5km on the cross trainer, 1km running on treadmill and 45 mins weights. I also went on tuesday. I am still dreading weigh in tomorrow though, I have definitely put on all that I lost before christmas I can see and feel it. So that will put me back to square one at 11st 10 all you 9 stoners should think yourself lucky you aren't my weight, I'm only 5ft 3 inches too. I have to do something though, we are trying for a second child atm after a miscarriage in October and I don;t want to start off at this weight. I went up to 14 and a half stone with my first, I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

Can you still lose weight whilst pregnant if you have more than enough to spare to start with?

Sorry to waffle on

lornaloo · 04/01/2007 18:51

Mrs Fish, I went up to 14st too. It was horrible being that big. Made the pregnancy alot harder too. One good thing came out of me eating so much, a big healthy baby so I can't complain.
You can lose weight when your pregnant, alot of people lose alot at the begining through morning sickness and loss of apetite.
When you get pregnant you could try having 5 small meals a day. Maybe something along the lines of porridge for brek, bowl of mixed fruit mid morning soup at lunch time another bowl of mixed fruit mid afternoon and a nice balanced but small dinner. You would lose weight but also be eating enough variety and regularly enough for the baby.

Hiya Luce, are you joining our thread? You don't need to mind. You 8 stoner you!!!!!

Loopity how did it go today?

I had Porridge for brek with skimmed milk.
Soup for lunch.
Soup a few hours later.
Im cooking whole meal spag with a homemade tomato sauce. Im calorie counting the sauce and think it has 100 cals in it, thats will be devided between dp ds and I. Im going to have 90grams of spag.

Just realised I'm really not sticking to the rules of the detox. Oh well I will still be under on cals anyway.

Long post Not one for short and sweet.

loopity · 04/01/2007 19:20

Hi everyone

Mrs fish - great day at the gym, I am very jealous as stuck at home today.

Lornaloo, my detox day started great - lowfat bio yoghurt and fruit for breakfast (was saving porridge for supper time!)
then bowl of lovely veg soup for lunch. Wanted to go out to shops to get lots of healthy things in but couldn't as ds2 has been unwell - high temp and very clingy. So what did I do instead??? Well, somehow found my way into the leftover Quality Street tin and have eaten soooo many of them (double figures) I feel sick - I only meant to have one to cheer me up due to cabin fever

Will start afresh from tomorrow after weigh-in although may have to leave detox until next week when lo's back at school. Can't seem to keep up the self-discipline when everyone's at home.

Has anyone any words of encouragment for me? Please!!!

Hi Lucymarie if you're joining in with us, btw

OP posts:
loopity · 04/01/2007 19:29

Mrs Fish, I would imagine that if you were eating healthily and sensibly then you could continue to lose a little weight when pregnant. You can still go to gym too, one of the personal trainers should be trained in pre- and post-natal exercise regimes.

Morning sickness very good at keeping the weight off at the beginning too - ugh, the memories .
Plus, maybe to give you hope weight-wise, out of my three pregnancies I put on the most with the first, much less with the second and the least with the third
However, when breastfeeding I have the appetite of a hungry hippo and put it on rather than lose it then!

Dislexie - which dancemat for the playstation have you got at home? Thinking of buying one for the kids...but will really be for me to use on workout mode when I can't get to the gym
Any recommendations regarding best to buy for ps2? Thanks!

OP posts:
MrsFish · 04/01/2007 20:20

Thanks for your replies everyone

They say every pregnancy is different so we will have to see, I had no morning sickness at all with the first or the first 8 weeks of the second though. Intending to eating sensibly and doing it is another matter though, I don;t have a huge amount of willpower Will most definitely keep up the gym work whatever happens though. In the meantime though, all hands to the deck so to speak as of tomorrow. See how long it takes me to undo the damage this time round

Today - Brekkie - 1 toast and 1 crumpet with low fat spread.
Lunch - 3 mini pitta bread (the kids ones) and houmous, bowl of homemade veg soup.
Snack - 3 rich tea biscuits, 1 pink wafer, 1 malted milk
Tea - smoked salmon and feta cheese salad.

Went through the cupboards and fridge today and as much as it pained me (starving children in ethiopia and all that....) I chuked a load of stuff that needed eating, like different cheeses, 3/4 of a choc tart etc, all the tempting stuff. Luckily no chocs in the house from xmas this year

MrsFish · 04/01/2007 20:21

Oh dear, overuse of the word 'though' in that post

lornaloo · 04/01/2007 23:20

Loopity don't worry about not sticking to the detox today. I didn't either. I had wheat and dairy. Mondays always a good day to start.

Mrs Fish have you tried doing a diet where you cut out certain things? They are normally the best for shifting weight. I say that as you said you can barely have any cals to lose weight. Maybe instead of cal counting you could do it a different way. It might help.

I'll list some Iv'e read about.
-Theres the cut out trans fats diet.
-No carbs.
-Only eat good carbs.
-No fat.
-Only eat raw.

I would say the easiet would be cutting out all bad carbs. Just eat whole grain. Lots of water.
Cut back on coffe.

Just did my new workout dvd. Its a tae bo one. It was 30 mins fat burn and 30 mins intensive ab and glutes training. It was so fun. Hopefully I will get time to do it everyday.

Dreading weigh in tomo.
