One action I've never regretted is always getting myself out the door, to the gym ... I need to get myself going somehow today ... 11 am & still in pjs
Mummydoc - Living in northwest Arkansas for now but grew up in Houston, Texas. 1976, began going skiing with family every year. Over the years, have been to just about any ski area in Colorado and Utah. For children, would recommend waiting until the youngest is 4 years old or older; nearly every US ski area has wonderful ski schools, but the youngest they take for actual ski instruction is 4 years. Best time to go is in the Spring, for the warmest ski weather. Very child-friendly areas include Crested Butte, Winter Park, Buttermilk, Snowmass, and Park City in Utah. Not as family-friendly in Vail, Aspen and Deer Valley.
Don't waste time going to the Northeastern US to ski: Conditions there (in comparison) are icy and difficult.
Every resort manager realizes they are only 1 personal injury lawsuit away from serious financial trouble or bankruptcy. Lawsuit abuse in this country guarantees that when it comes to safety, US resorts will trump European ones. Everything is always clearly marked and roped off, for example, so there's no chance of accidentally ending up "off piste" on a dangerous slope.
Sigh ... better get myself to the gym now!
