Well congratulations MrsFish - that explains that "off" feeling!!! Please keep us posted!

Lorns, very different ... can't get used to mouth breathing!! Question for you, I've been wondering since your posture post, can working chest more than back lead to poor posture; can doing the opposite lead to better posture?

lornaloo · 23/01/2007 23:37

Ah wow Mrs Fish I am SO happy for you .
So will this be your second then? How old is your ds now?

lornaloo · 23/01/2007 23:38

Went to the gym tonight at work for the first time.

MrsFish · 24/01/2007 08:39

Lornaloo - Yeah it will be my second. Ds is 19 months old

loopity · 24/01/2007 11:30

Hi everyone

Well I am on my 3rd day of no wheat. Drinking heaps of water too. Very cold here so very little walking this week so far, but hoping to get to the gym a couple of times before the end of the week.

Mrs Fish my sons 16months. Not much of a gap between our babys.
It would be lovely if you have a little girl this time. Also lovely if you have another boy for your ds to play with.

Loopity do you feel better going wheat free? I may join you in that one.

I might try and go to the gym tonight.

lornaloo · 24/01/2007 12:08

oooo maybe it will be twins!! A girl and boy...

costababe · 24/01/2007 12:13

Congrats Mrs Fish

Not doing so well last few days, but af arrived last night so that will explain my need to cram as much food into me as possible

loopity · 24/01/2007 15:52

Has actually been okay this time, lornaloo - was going to try to really cut back on the carbs but is far too difficult when cooking for the dc's as well so will stick to brown rice and new potatoes, no bread or pasta though at the moment. Just really need to tone up so maybe this combined with the gym attendance will help. What did you use at the gym by the way? Is there a pool there too?

Dh has just got me a new mp3 player for the gym - anyone got any recommendations for good work-out music to keep me going on the treadmill?

sweetheart · 24/01/2007 16:02

Hello again - saw the thread on the activ conv so thought i'd stop in and say hi.

Congratulation Mrs Fish - thats wonderful news.

Loo - I recommend the "Now" albums for your mp3 player - I've just loaded a few on my mp3 (that I got for xmas) for my gym visits.

I find fast music is best for the cv work and slow songs for weight lifting - then you can do it in time to the music.

sweetheart · 24/01/2007 16:02

my fav atm for gym is McFly version of Queen - Don't Stop Me Know.

Me and my dd dance around the lounge to this!

loopity · 24/01/2007 20:22

Thanks sweetheart
Think I'll sit tonight and load some songs on. Was almost going to buy one of those eyetoy dancegames for ds2's playstation today (but then thought ds2 may have something to say about me hogging his Christmas present, lol). Looked really good fun for the days I can't get to gym

Loopity - I really like Collective Soul ... have been running to them for years!

Did a relatively easy yoga class today and that's all ... R wrist, both quadraceps, and L hip hurt & sore for anything else ...

Trying so hard to get those latest 3 pounds back off ...

loopity · 25/01/2007 21:22

Hi everyone
Hope you're all doing okay. Another day of no wheat here, can't believe I've lasted 4 days without any bread, but I do feel less lethargic so hopefully it's worth it.

OP posts:
loopity · 26/01/2007 11:39

Had lost another 1.5lbs today when I weighed in so still going the right way
Just a few more lbs and toning up and I will have achieved my goal. How's everyone else getting on
Just a thought, now that we're all focusing on regular exercise, do you think we should change the name of this thread? Any thoughts/suggestions either way?

OP posts:
tiger8565 · 26/01/2007 11:48

do a variety of mixes of differing lengths, ie. i have a mix that is 20mins, 30 mins, 40mins and an hour...so it depends how long I want to spend in the gym...

for cardio, use upbeat music taht you love...(music that you sing along to/gets you on the dance floor is always good )

for weights/cool down, select some chill out music, nice and refreshing after upbeat music ....

loopity · 26/01/2007 11:59

Thanks tiger8565
I'm going to spend some time over the weekend loading on some music so will think about splitting it into mixes. Need a good 30 mins or more of the upbeat tunes to keep me going at the running workout.
Normally I don't wear earphones or I just listen into whatever's on at the gym's tv monitors - just hope I don't start singing along to my MP3 while on the treadmill

I lost another half pound. Not great but at least it isn't going up

skibump · 27/01/2007 15:00

Hi All. Loads to catch up on

Congratulations Mrs Fish Fantastic news, hope you're feeling well. Keep us posted

Re Friday weigh in, I stayed the same AGAIN. I've done loads of exercise, including really punishing session with pt on Wednesday, and thought I'd been eating pretty well, but obviously a bit too well . Will try harder next week. Must! My target is looming large and my average req'd loss is now nearer 2lbs than 1lb. Still achieveable I think, but only just...

skibump · 27/01/2007 15:00

Oh, and good posture tip Lorns. I tried that and you can REALLY tell the difference between driving in the morning and the afternoon...mnust do something about that

lallop · 27/01/2007 16:09

Hi everyone
Have been a bit snacky today but am going for a good swim later today so will hopefully offset this.
(It's loopity btw, have changed talkname as dd was noseying over my shoulder and cottoned on to my chat nickname, so have changed it for a wee while, throw her off the scent )

laloop · 27/01/2007 16:29

Have revised my name again as managed to mistype the last one ...am soooo sleep-deprived, I don't think my brain will ever function properly again after having children

Have started to load on my songs for the gym at last. Well done skibump for keeping the exercise levels up.

Lorns · 28/01/2007 16:11

Marls001 - sorry I've not responded... The days fly by when youre having fun or just plain busy!!!

A little bit unsure about what you mean, but in Yoga the breathing is from your belly, lengthening the spine as your go and then out through the tops of the shoulders. This is sort of using the chest more.

If you don't stabilise the shoulders and do the belly button thing then breathing into your back and expanding the ribs widthways (Pilates) won't help your posture.

Probably answered your q all wrong, but just let me know and I'll start over!!

skibump · 29/01/2007 13:27

Lorns, I don't understand about the breathing stuff (but interested) can you try again please?

I've had a mid-week weigh and STILL not lost any weight - but have dropped a dress size confused but pleased I guess I'll have to go with the 2must be converting fat to muscle" thing
