Well done lemonaid - I conveniently forgot to post my 2lb gain! Might have had something to do with the buy two get one free extra tub of maltesers I had lying around! Oops.

JackieNo · 30/11/2006 10:54

Congratulations Lemonaid. Thanks for the kick up the backside, WWB - wish I looked like that. I like that 'Our Lady of Weightloss' site that the pic was on (well, have only looked at the home page, but might investigate further).

JackieNo · 30/11/2006 10:54

I guess we might have got some slightly confused other members with your altenative title, WWB.

WigWamBam · 30/11/2006 10:56

I know ... My fingers aren't working at all today!

I wish I looked like the lady on the link as well ... maybe by the time we get to BigMoFos Week 2370, hey

I haven't checked out that site yet but it looks interesting.

+1.5 lbs, total loss 20.5.

Not too bad for a few very lazy weeks and some Duchy of Cornwall mince pies (which I highly recommend. Best I've ever ate, try not to eat three though).

Induction at my gym this PM. Will start tracking again. So hopefully next few weeks only good news...

hmmm...

congrats lemonaid.

littlemisssensible · 30/11/2006 12:19

Congrats Lemonaid

And thanks for the kick WWB, I definately need kick starting again!....Just succumed to the lure of the biscuit barrel at work .

Our Boss (my dad) allows a biscuit 'ration' of 3 biccys with morning coffee and 2 with afternoon coffee! I can cope with 1 in the morning and still lose Ok, but more than that and my sweet tooth kicks in and I end up snaffling biccys all day!

But that kick up the butt has inspired me to be good....
I will NOT have another biccy
I will NOT have another biccy
I will NOT have another biccy

I once read an article of an interview with Dawn French. She said that she always knew she was very loved by her family and that her father continually told her how beautiful and talented she was. This thought had stayed with her all her life and has led to her fabulous positive attitude.

She said that the only time she's ever tried to lose weight was when she and Lenny Henry were adopting their daughter and social services told her she had to. She said it was a really unhappy time and she put the weight back on as soon as the adoption went through.

WigWamBam · 30/11/2006 18:02

Hub ... thought you might like a kick up the bum as well ... not quite sure the lacy undies on the other picture were quite you

A biscuit ration, LMS?? That would do me in, I can't say no to biscuits - and if they were there twice a day every day it would be the end for me!

What a lucky lady Dawn French was to grow up with such postive parents. I really think that most self-esteem issues stem from childhood - and once the damage is done it can last a lifetime.

I think I read that or a very similar article too Littlefish and I was really struck by it.
It reminds me of my friend, who has always been large, but who has the most impressive self esteem I've ever seen - and I think that is because her parents instilled such belief in her and pretty much told her how fabulous she was but WITHOUT spoiling her and making her into a brat - it's a thin line and goodness knows how one treads it so successfully! The esteem just serves to make her even more attractive than she actually already is (and that is attractive enough). I always envied her that, because try as I might I just never had that self belief and it showed

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 13:27

It makes me very worried for my daughter, that self-esteem can be so closely tied up with parental attitude. The one thing I have always wanted for my dd is that she has better self-esteem than I do, and I have tried so hard to bolster her up and make her feel good about herself. So much of our adult personality comes from our childhood, and although she seems pretty confident I'm already starting to hear negativity creeping in when she talks about herself, and she's only 5.

PortAndLemonaid · 01/12/2006 13:35

This is a good book on building self-esteem in children.

I've had a very drifty, can't-really-be-bothered few weeks on the eating well front but I think I am getting myself back into gear now. Just as well, because my original goal of losing 2 stone total by Christmas is looking less achievable now (it's only a soft goal, so I don't mind that I'm going to miss it, but I'd at least like to have a good few weeks running into Christmas).

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 13:40

Thank you for that, lemonaid (love the Christmas name!)

You're doing brilliantly; it may not be two stone yet but it's over a stone and a half, which is a great achievement. And there's still three weeks or so until Christmas, so there's time for an extra few pounds yet.

It was Jackie's suggestion, IIRC (the name, that is). She's got a real talent for pseudonymmery...

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 13:49

A lady of many talents, our Jackie ...

A bit like Stonehenge ...

OP posts:
JackieNoHoHo · 01/12/2006 22:38

But considerably less monolithic than I was thanks to you, and these threads, WWB.

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 22:39

I was thinking more along the lines of old and slightly rough around the edges ...
