As the first thread is full, I thought I'd start this one to dip a toe in the water and see if anyone else is still around. At the end of the last thread I think a few of us had decided to have the summer off and come back to it in September - so here I am.

Hope a few of the old gang are still around Smile

OP posts:
KinkyDorito · 24/11/2015 07:43

Thanks for all the suggestions Smile.

I'm trying to treat myself in non-food ways, but still have wavers where I just fancy something. I've read it's about 3 months to really change habits, so I'm early days yet.

I'm having some fun looking through paleo Christmas posts though and getting some ideas. Might have a crack at paleo mince pies and something with chocolate.

It is worth it; I just need to keep going. I have huge motivation when I think about four weeks ago when all I did was sleep. It is making my Fibro better than it was. I'd love to be a person with energy for things. I haven't had that for years.

AlwaysBeYourself · 24/11/2015 12:43

Kinky I understand it's hard in the beginning but when you do it for health reasons it really gives you a goal doesn't it. I find that if I have wheat, dairy or sugar that the day after I get knee pain when going upstairs. When I get back on track it disappears instantly. I believe it's the inflammation that takes place within the body when eating these culprits. Keep doing it and if you eat something off your woe just consider it a blip and move on. It does indeed take time to turn this into " normal" but you will get there and your body will than you.

ProfYaffle · 24/11/2015 19:34

I'm just browsing pinterest for Xmas recipes. A lot of them seem to centre on truffles made from peanut butter rolled in chocolate as a type of 'fudge'. Has anyone tried a recipe like that? I'm imaging it being a bit claggy and sickly tbh, am slightly afraid of another avocado/coco powder debacle.

OP posts:
Fluffybrain · 25/11/2015 08:23

No not heard of that Prof. Or does sound very sickly and sticky. I'd like Nutella to do a dark chocolate version.

ProfYaffle · 25/11/2015 09:02

That would be good. These are the kind of things I was looking at

www.savynaturalista.com/2013/07/02/chocolate-peanut-butter-balls-low-carb/

www.willcookforsmiles.com/2014/01/bake-chocolate-covered-peanut-butter-cheesecake-bites.html

I dunno, my head is telling me they'll be rank but for some reason I keep going back to the idea!

OP posts:
AlwaysBeYourself · 25/11/2015 14:48

I think they are meant to taste like a dark version of Reece's peanut cups

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 26/11/2015 08:27

Morning all -i fell off the wagon, i am blaming pmt and stress! However i have learnt to hop back on quickly. I went to spin class yesterday and whilst it was evil and very very hard i really enjoyed it. The trainer gave me some exercise suggestions for a big muddy obstacle course i will be doing in March. He seemed to think i would have no problems in getting fit enough - i am doubting that but have choosen to trust his professional judgement!

My legs really hurt today. I also weighed myself - i was fully clothed, had drunk lots of water etc but i was 14st - so still 7lbs off of my lowest weight this summer but i am hoping to get there by xmas.

I make dark choc truffles, i think i got the recipe off of the bootcamp recipe thread, they are lovely and as they use dark choc they are very rich.

I am fasting today and have a lovely piece of fish for dinner tonight.

Good luck everyone today.

Fluffybrain · 26/11/2015 13:55

Well done desperately for getting straight back on it. Dark choc truffles sound lovely. I think I should find a fitness goal for next year to aim for. I am going out for dinner tonight. Going to have a couple of gins!

KinkyDorito · 26/11/2015 14:59

Okay ladies. This is a TMI. Sorry, but need help.

Have awful constipation. Does anyone have suggestions? It's making me want to stop the WOE.

Sorry again Blush.

Desperately well done on getting back on it. Flowers

ProfYaffle · 26/11/2015 15:05

Flax seed? Google muffin in a minute, one of those usually helps BIG time! Or for a gentler approach I sometimes make 'pancakes', my version is 2 eggs, tablespoon of flax seed, splash of almond milk. Fried in coconut oil and eaten with maybe fake maple syrup and butter, or raspberries and cream. I get my flax seed from Aldi.

OP posts:
Fluffybrain · 26/11/2015 16:01

If you lived near me I would say to come round for an abdominal massage for constipation. Try lying on your back and moving your hand round in circles from your tummy button outwards in a clockwise direction. Might help.

AlwaysBeYourself · 26/11/2015 16:25

Lots of water and walking.
Eat more fruit and veg.
Flaxseed mixed nut and coconut with berry cereal works too

AlwaysBeYourself · 26/11/2015 16:26

Kinky what have you been eating (more or less) this last week?

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 26/11/2015 16:27

Kinky - a bpc keeps me regular, i think its the coconut oil. On the bootcamp thread they recommend more water and more fat - but they recommend that for everything!

My legs are killing me, i nearly resorted to bum bumping down the stairs like my toddler does! Having a fitness goal is keeping me on the straight and narrow. Losing weight will only help my training and knees and the exercise inc bodyweight training will help my getting slim goal- so win win. We now have a big posh event at the end of jan - i have a suitable dress but its a good size too small, also i need amazing arms to carry it off. So press ups and tricep dips for me tonight but i might lay off of the squats.

My dd has some sort of tummy bug with runs and evil farts, so i have made some home made high fat yoghurt to get her good bugs back into balance. Perhaps now she will listen to me about not eating raisins from the floor but then she is 3 so probably not!!

Fish and green veg for dinner tonight. I didnt manage to fast, i am going to wait until i am properly back into ketosis before i try again.

AlwaysBeYourself · 26/11/2015 16:38

Desperately My knees were hurting at the beginning of the year when I was 14 stone 10 but now that I am 12 stone 10 they don't hurt anymore and getting up of the sofa is much easier Smile

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 27/11/2015 10:44

I went out for a brisk 3 mile walk last night, i thought it might ease off the pain in my legs but no!!

I had a bpc for breakfast, lunch will be a green smoothie and i have some marinated chicken wings for dinner.

Good luck everyone

KinkyDorito · 27/11/2015 19:18

Thanks for all suggestions. I tried coffee with coconut oil (as that's what I had in) and that seems to have sorted it.

Still feeling hungry and wanting to snack loads though. Something's definitely off with me and this WOE atm. Sticking with it.

AlwaysBeYourself · 27/11/2015 23:13

Kinky could you list down what you have eaten this last week maybe?

Then we could poss see what is causing you to have cravings.

KinkyDorito · 28/11/2015 08:59

Thanks Always. Strangely, I have lost 2lbs, so it doesn't seem to have stalled me. Maybe it's just one of those things. Will see how I go today and if I'm still craving loads, will list my food for a check through. I don't think I'm eating enough veg with meals - it has been an odd week and this isn't normal for me - so will up those. Thanks again.

ProfYaffle · 29/11/2015 14:39

I've embarked on my Xmas baking experiment today. Made these cookies. The biscuits themselves are really very nice though soft rather than crunchy. I'm not fond of the frosting but dh and dd2 like it. I think the next batch will be drizzled with dark chocolate instead.

I've also made this chocolate tart but have swapped the candy canes for chopped hazlenuts and freeze dried raspberry crumbs. Not tasted this one yet (photo attached) but can't wait! We'll be having it with fresh raspberries and cream.

Watching with interest Prof: let us know how the tart tastes.

I'm still on the search for paleo ideas. Have pinned a massive list so far.

Just a quick question - do bakers use ground almonds for almond flour? Many of the ingredients are quite £££ and am trying to keep it cheap.

I was also very excited about these:

www.yumbles.com/g.org.e/raw-organic-truffles-christmas-selection-box.html

Plus, I'm going to get salted nuts and maybe even crisps for my treats. Wheat and sugar are my big no-nos.

ProfYaffle · 29/11/2015 17:59

Just finished our dinner - the tart was lush. Very dark and intense, bit too much for the dc tbh but the adults loved it. Fresh raspberries made a difference, they cut through the richness of the ganache.

I use ground almonds for almond flour. We have a health food shop near us called the Grape Tree that does it for a reasonable price. It's still not cheap but buying a huge bag works out most economical.

OP posts:
AlwaysBeYourself · 29/11/2015 20:00

They look nice Prof. I don't eat dairy though so out for me.
My favourite things are
Flourless paleo chocolate cake
meringues with mixed berries and vanilla coconut yoghurt
nut butter cookies
banana icecream made from .....bananas (that's it) and tastes sooo creamy
baked peaches/apples filled with nut pesto with dates and desert wine
mince pies made with almond flour/rice flour mix

KinkyDorito · 29/11/2015 21:20

I've just had to go through my clothes after realising that a lot of my work stuff is now far too big. I don't really know what to do with it now. There's some really nice things and I admit I'm reluctant to let it go as I've gone up and down so much in the past. I'm scared I'll get rid and need it again in sixth months.

What have others done with their bigger clothes?

AlwaysBeYourself · 29/11/2015 21:34

Sold them on ebay :)
