I'm going back to work after extended mat leave this week, kids back to school and nursery. It's time to put some better eating habits in place and stop scoffing ice cream! I have a 12 week 'sort out the Mum tum' program to follow and about 12 lb to lose. I just need some buddies to kick my fat arse keep me accountable. My birthday (40something) is the end of November, would love to be back in shape by then. 1lb a week.....

Miloarm... What is slimming world, its not calories is it? I've really struggled the last few days (aka not struggling just eating what I fancy!), had a surprise visit from friends that live far away so that was lovely, but loads of naughty eats. And wee baby was up a bit last nightc(and I stayed up til 1am so had 4 hours of broken sleep. Blurghhh. That's my excuse anyway Grin

Sorry if this has been covered but: Are we weighing in on a certain day?x

Hi Everyone. I was back at the docs today for the results of my fasting blood test. The total cholesterol figure was 6.7 which was good news as the figure from the non-fasting one was 7.1, although obviously still too high. I was really pleased however that statins were not mentioned - I'd been expecting to go in and have to argue the case for not taking them. She just said to try and eat healthily and get some exercise which I'd been doing/planning to do anyway. Apparently my overall risk of heart attack is only around 1% anyway, so I'm still really low risk.

I did two fast days last week and ate really well after the bank holiday. I did have a couple of cakes at the weekend at a bbq, but had been planning to allow myself one treat a week anyway so don't feel too bad about that. Weighed in on Friday morning and had lost a little bit since the previous Friday, but had been having a 'final fling' over the BH weekend with lots of chocolate and a takeaway curry so hadn't been expecting much. Exercise was pretty much a write off as I was feeling a bit under the weather. I did manage to make time for a half hour walk yesterday afternoon and will be giving Davina another go this week!

I'm planning on weighing in on Friday mornings so it's before the weekend, but after my two fast days!

OctopusArmEnvy · 07/09/2015 14:26

Good news on your blood tests 2madboys :-) I'm with you on having to add in one treat a week - complete abstinence just leads to a manic falling off the wagon day off eating everything in sight for me anyway ;-) xx

I'm going to weigh in on a Monday in the hope that it keeps me focused over the weekend.
10st9 today so a 2lb loss. I had a good fast day on Friday. I had a night out planned but offered to drive so just had a glass of champagne. Saturday was a non-fast day but I stayed within my TDEE. Yesterday was a bit of a disaster as we had a family gathering and my good intentions quickly disappeared!
Fasting today &, provided I eat nothing else, I'll be on track. I didn't run this morning as I've got a cold and thought I'd probably get better faster if I dropped the exercise.

Effic · 07/09/2015 23:52

Hi all.
Went on my first ever run today with my lovely ds who took it all very seriously and put me through a whole warm routine thing first (that was tiring before we started!) and stretch thing at the end. Managed 3km at a steady slowish run without stopping! Legs feeling a bit stiff now - wish me luck for the morning.
I'm weighing every Tuesday so tomorrow for me - was 11.12 on Friday when I decided to join and actually do something about Summer holiday pigout unexplained weight gain - so I'm not expecting any change in 4 days but have been eating fairly well (apart from big yummy pasta dish out on Saturday!) so hopefully by next week! Avoided all the chocs in the staff room today too!

Sitoff · 08/09/2015 11:20

Morning everyone. Managed to stay almost on track at the weekend. Going to make a real effort to move more at the same time as being careful with what I eat. Still feeling positive!

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 08/09/2015 19:58

Well done, Effic. 3km sounds pretty good for a first run. I did C25k earlier in the year & could scarcely managed 90 seconds in week one!

Effic · 08/09/2015 20:53

Well done for your 2lb loss Thatsnot!
I had a pleasant surprise this morning as I was -1lb from Friday. Not user if it's really gone or just less water etc but it was a good motivator. Woke up feeling ok and not stiff. Did another 3km run this evening - OMG - it's much harder on day 2!! I didn't stop and kept going (lovely ds encouraging me all the way!) but I'm sooooooooo stiff now! God knows how I'm going to get round school tomorrow!

Effic · 08/09/2015 20:53

Sure not user - sigh!

Effic · 08/09/2015 20:55

firefly - soy and Linseed toast sounds lush. Where do you get that from?

Miloarmadillo1 · 09/09/2015 12:56

winston no calorie counting with SW. It's a while since I've done it 'officially' but on the extra easy plan you can have unlimited fresh fruit and veg, lean meat or fish, rice, pasta, potatoes, then limited quantities of fibre foods ( bread and cereals) and calcium foods (cheese and milk). Anything else has to come from your 'syn' allowance. If you home cook from scratch it's straightforward, I liked not having to weigh/count everything.

I had quite a good week and lost not a single ounce... But do feel slimmer and less bloated. I had a bad day yesterday as we got a rare evening out at a Thai restaurant, but back on it today.

Afternoon all, off to first weigh in tonight at SW. Hope I can report back a little success as it's been a looooong week!

Winstonsma · 09/09/2015 19:12

well done you lot. Sounds like your weight will drop off soon milo, sometimes you get a stay the same week then the next week its gone! I've been hopeless, eating loads ?? I looked at slimming world online but its ??60 as you have to take 3 months at once. Might do meetings but I'm not sure if ill manage often with newborn plus 2year old, plus cooking from scratch is a bit precarious at the mo, managing it 4 nights out of 7 but relying on jars of pasta sauce a bit too much!

Grange · 09/09/2015 21:48

4lb off this week. Happy with that! Winstonma, I know what you mean about the juggle of cooking from scratch with demands of tiny ones- I've been batch cooking sw 'free food' recipes in the slow cooker and freezing them down....don't know how long that motivation will last though Wink

Miloarmadillo1 · 09/09/2015 22:06

Woohoo! well done grange !

Well done grange!!!

Sitoff · 10/09/2015 08:34

Impressive start Grange. Hope everyone else is pleased with their progress this week.

2madboys · 10/09/2015 09:55

On a fast day today but had a bit of a fail yesterday. In a meeting at work with lunch provided so way too many carbs and a piece of cake which I didn't really enjoy anyway. Sad I'd bought some Nakd bars on my way to work but didn't really want to draw attention to myself by bringing one into the meeting. I felt so rubbish after eating sandwiches, mini indian stuff and quiche as well that I went home and slept instead of doing the Davina DVD.

Anyway, hoping for a better day today. No breakfast, an apple and some nuts for lunch and salmon and veg for tea. Will see what tomorrow's weigh in brings ...

Grange · 10/09/2015 10:18

Thanks for the encouragement in this group- We can do it! Smile

Effic · 10/09/2015 22:03

We can indeed.
2mad - everyone has days like that. The trick I guess is not to let one 'fail' day turn into two.
I know what you mean about the cake thing though, I had a pretty ropey looking biscuit from the bottom of the tin in the staff room today ..... No idea why? Didn't even really fancy it! Grrrrrr.....

Sitoff · 11/09/2015 08:21

Friday weigh in for me - lost a pound, very pleased. 2madboys I feel your frustration. Hope the fast day was better. effic for me it was an out of date pudding from the fridge last night - why?

2madboys · 11/09/2015 16:18

Thanks guys. Need to learn for it no move on! Feeling pretty disappointed today though as the week's loss was slightly less than 1lbSad. However, previously when trying to lost weight I've sometimes found it slow and then Had a bigger loss in a following week. Need to keep focussed! DH and kids all had chocolate last night but I resisted. There is a ripple with my name on it for tonight and then I will be virtuous for the rest of the weekend!
