I've loved being on the Summer thread as I think having smaller, interim goals has helped. On that basis, I'm setting myself my next target of 24 lb by Christmas (i think that's 1.5lb per week for 16 weeks).

All welcome to join. Same "rules" as the Summer thread - update once a week, any method of weight loss welcome, don't have to state start or target weight.

Also "non-scale victories" (NSVs) where you've been pleasantly suprised by a change (could be dress size, compliments etc) welcome for motivation.

Who's in?

For info I lost c23lb on the Summer thread which averaged at 1.5lb per week but for the last month I've been delighted just to maintain as I've had a lot of parties and an all inclusive holiday!

Me please!

I've lost 34 pounds and am finally within the healthy bmi range for my height. I'm wanting to lose perhaps another 10 to take me into the midrange. Reckon doing that by Christmas is achievable as obviously things have slowed a bit as I've neared goal.

I hear you on the happy to maintain front Down. I put on 7 pounds in one week on my holiday!!! Eek! It's coming off again quickly but that was quite a shocker ShockBlush

Am using MFP -aiming for 1250/day average per week. I need to lose 8/9lbs and hoping to reach goal sooner but ultimate goal is Christmas!

Can I be in please? A stone would be ideal, really need to lose that by start of Nov though - Get married dec 19th and can't stop snacking!

WoahBodyforrrrm · 28/08/2015 15:57

Can I join too please?

I lost 3stone three years ago, I let a stone of it creep back on. Then at the beginning of July I fell ill with what turned out to be a brain tumour. I was put on steroids which are nicknamed 'moon face' steroids. Since the beginning of July I've put on two stone so I'm now just 4lbs short of my heaviest ever weight. I came off the steroids on Monday so now need to address the weight situation. The kids are back to school on Wednesday, I have my meals planned for the week. I'm not planning of following a diet as such, just cutting down on portions size and sugar as brain tumours feed off glucose so I need to do anything I can to try and reduce the chance of it coming back. I look forward to weighing in with you all! My weight as of today is 11st 12lb and I'm 5ft 5in.

Cadsuane · 28/08/2015 16:44

This year I have lost 50lb ( as has DH) I am now at a healthy BMI but would love to lose another stone and maybe a few buffer pounds by Christmas but preferably by the end of November as we have a big family Christmas party then.
I have been doing weight watchers but am thinking of switching to MFP to try and remotivate myself. I was 154 last week but won't be weighing in this week as I forgot this morning and am off out for my DM's birthday in an hour or two.

AngelicaDelight · 28/08/2015 16:45

Oooh me too - had already decided to start on Monday as we have something on this weekend so it'll be my final fling with sugar etc! :o

AngelicaDelight · 28/08/2015 16:54

Now I have read the thread properly - Woah my extra two stone is also steroid weight. I am also the same height and I am guessing very nearly the same weight as you. Similarly I just have too-big portions and FAR too much sugar. We can do this together! Flowers to you and good luck xx

Lovewearingjeans · 28/08/2015 17:03

Newbie here. Weight has crept on over the Summer, and my clothes are getting tight. I want to nip it in the bud before I put more on. Using MFP to monitor. Trying to think of filling, low calorie meals for me and DH. His problem is portion control, so I am only cooking enough, rather than any extra helpings. Also need to move more. Planning on walking mainly.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 28/08/2015 19:09

More the merrier.

I'm starting again properly on Monday and it's a good job as I've been out for two meals today. Oink!

Oh I'm in! I'd like to shift another stone, am 2 down from last C-word but it's really hard now there's only one left to go.

Upping the exercise and hopefully it'll be cold enough for lots of home made veg soups! Although technically it's probably cold enough already....

WoahBodyforrrrm · 28/08/2015 20:42

angelica which steriods do you take? I'm hoping the weight comes off as quickly as it went on which was unbelieveably fast Always the optimist me Grin

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 29/08/2015 01:09

I'm in too please!
Have been meaning to lose weight for months (as my nickname will tell you) but haven't had the motivation yet. But DH is going away for 5 weeks in a weeks time and that means I will have extra time to workout instead of lazing about on the couch eating tea and biscuits and eating superseded meals. I also want to have lost a stone at least by the time he returns. If I start this weekend, it gives me 6 weeks to lose it.
A couple of weeks ago I had attempted a VLCD but DH suggested I might stick to it better when he wasn't around, which is true, so for the past week I tried to watch what I ate without the meal replacements. I've lost about 3lbs in 2 weeks which is not too impressive for a first week loss but better than nothing.

This will be my plan for this week:

  1. Use MFP to log all foods consumed and try to stick to 1300 calories a day. (I'm a 5'1 shortie so this is adequate for me)
  1. 30 min on the treadmill walking/jogging. I'll interval train and go by how I feel so not to overwork myself.
  1. 3 x 30 minute dumbell workouts per week.
  1. Cut out all snacking inbetween meals besides 2 daily fruit snacks and one afternoon 150 calorie healthy snack.
  1. No nibbling of food from the kitchen worktop when in the kitchen. This is one of my biggest vices-imvices- I'm always licking spoons, taking a nibble of this and that, dipping my spoon into leftovers or other food for a few morsels. This has to stop.

Hopefully looking to lose a steady weight of 1.5lbs-2lbs a week.

I'm in too!

I turn 40 in February and want to feel happier in my own skin by then so this thread should help me stay on track for Christmas.

Currently 12st 3lb, would like to lose 1.5st but currently breastfeeding DD2 who's 7 weeks so will aim to take it slowly and not sure how that will affect my weight loss. Using mfp to keep track of what I eat, have spent far too much on WW and others over the years. I know what to do, know I need to eat less crap and move a bit more but just need to motivation to actually do it!

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 29/08/2015 07:14

Im in. Im always having these goals, but never getting to them Hmm

A couple of years ago I was doing really well, but then the weight started to creep back on and now Im back to near where I was before (same old story I know)

So Im 12st (I did get down to 10st 10lbs before) and really need to do something. Im going small and aiming for 11st 7lbs by Christmas. so that's only 7lbs which I think is very managable. I know any more than that will be too much of a challenge and I dont think I will be able to stick to it. It will overwhelm me.

I plan to not do any particular thing, but Im cutting down carbs (not going full low carb as I like Pasta too much, but cutting out bread, rice and potatoes) Im listening to a hypnotherapy CD 6 days a week and on a Wed (when Im at evening college) Im going to have a fast day and stick to 800 cals (so a bit 6:1).

Id love to do BIWI's bootcamp or completely cut out sugar, but I know both of them are very unsustainable for me personally.

KatharineClifton · 29/08/2015 13:14

I think 3lb is pretty good TheDiet - a house brick is 5lb and you're over half way getting rid of carrying one around every day.

AngelicaDelight · 29/08/2015 16:25

I have PMd you Woah!

DarylDixonsDarlin · 30/08/2015 11:34

Thanks for the new thread Down. Hello to everyone above, right lets DO this! Grin

Today is my weigh in day - decided I'm starting afresh on this new thread after losing 17lb on the Summer Sunday thread.

I have 4.5kg to lose to be within the maximum BMI for my height, and ideally I'd like another 3-4kg off after that, definitely by Christmas. I'd like to lose a large chunk of it by mid October as we've got a family wedding then. No outfit yet Confused

Its definitely doable Smile. I am not following a 'method' really; just eating less, healthier choices and more exercise.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 30/08/2015 14:01

Great to see so many of us on board Smile.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 30/08/2015 22:06

Well, the weekend was okay, I guess. I managed not to go too much over my calorie limit on both days but at the same time I didn't work out at all. I find it really hard to settle into any routine with 3 of my DC at home although if I'm honest, I could probably have managed it if I really tried.

I'm hoping to plan my meals for the next 3 days before I sleep tonight and also fix a time for exercise and writing it in my diary rather than just mentally making a note of it as something I need to do at some point today. That should help me stick to it.

Dexysmidnightrunner · 31/08/2015 09:11

Can I join please? Aim to lose 14lbs for the C word. A lb a week should be doable and gives bit of wriggle room for slip ups! Also plan to use MFP-and to be honest with myself!x

AngelicaDelight · 31/08/2015 09:47

Hello all! Excited to get started! :o

Today I weigh 74.75kg which Siri reliably informs me is 11 stone 10lbs 12.7oz to be exact. Thanks steroids Hmm Sad. It'd be a dream to get back to 9st10 which is what I was before my illness started, which means a loss of about 13kg. Shock

I'm not going to follow any diet as such in terms of points or calories etc. I know my issue is basically sugar and junk food - anything that comes in a packet! So my plan of attack is to stop eating all the crap and stick to fresh, whole foods. I have actually found quite a cool free app called Wholesome link here which is very pretty but also looks like a nice way to track what I am eating. Smile

I also feel that if I try to make too many changes at once then it just never works, so I am going to start off improving my diet for two weeks, and then add in an exercise plan, maybe the 30 day shred or a Lucy Meck one, from the 14th. I actually have a HUGE work deadline until then so to be honest every spare minute will be spent either working on that or trying to catch up on some sleep so if I did say I was going to start exercising today then it wouldn't work and I'd feel rubbish because I didn't stick to it.

So. Slow + sensible = manageable and doable! That's what I'm thinking anyway! :o

Good luck all!

AngelicaDelight · 31/08/2015 09:51

I must say - I don't think I'll lose 2 stone by Christmas! I have got no idea what is reasonable to expect or hope for by then...
