I am starting this thread to take up from the 10 stone one. That thread has given me a lot of strength and hope and I would like to continue that dialogue but thought it might need freshening up. Champs speak to me! Hows it going and how many new food types can you alert me to?
Any more takers for the long haul speak now!

lol!! Krispy Kremes are extreeeeemly naughty donoughts from american company

DONT go there... I repeat DONT GO!!

you are brave!! atleast you will come back lighter tho, a week at beety's fat farm !!! can imagine her helga outfit " you will NOT eat"
Think i need the beety treatment.
Beety tell me NOOO!!!! or as we say to ds2 when he goes to taste anything other than food.... "No Eat"

bran · 10/08/2004 14:57

There is a Krispy Kreme shop very near my Waitrose Champs, I don't have to walk past it, but sometimes I hear it calling me. It whispers "You can't be sure you don't like donuts until you try ours", and "just one won't hurt".

Just tell me that they're horrible and greasy.

glitterfairy · 10/08/2004 21:40

Bran you have only been here a few moments and already Champs and I are corrupting you!

Am happy to say have no idea about these donuts but used to work with someone who said "what sort of a day is it"? and her worst day was a five donut day!

OP posts:
bran · 10/08/2004 22:09

Probably best never to try them then. I have never tried M&S clotted cream rice pudding on the basis that I'm convinced I will love it and therefore will be constantly craving it forever. It's a bit easier to resist Krispy Kreme though because I don't like ordinary donuts, so chances are I won't like Krispy Kreme either, although having everyone within striking distance of Canary Wharf raving about them does make them sound tempting.

On the diet strategy side, I have decided to adopt an addict style approach to it. I'll just diet this week and not worry about forever. I got terribly depressed on Saturday thinking about spending the rest of my life weighing food and eating a quarter of the amount that I want of stuff that I quite like, and none of the stuff that I really like.

champs · 10/08/2004 23:52

Bran--- DONT try them, dont even go in to the shop, the smell alone will make you gain a stone!! Then to make matters worse (or better)they give you a freebie ... WARM!! you will not make it out without a purchase!!!
as for the rice pudding.... dont even look at it, I made that mistake and my thighs cried!!

Ms Whiplash (Glitter) please help, I had a very bad last few days.... must get back on the diet waggon, Think Swimming costume, beach clothing, no more sweaty thighs (ewwwwwww)

I know how you feel about feeling deppressed about dieting, we just have to think it will be worth it in the end.

glitterfairy · 11/08/2004 11:17

Absolutely Champs because we are worth it... .

Bran it is very depressing and always sends me into a downward spiral of eating. I looked in the mirror this morning though and thought if I had stuck to my guns I would now be almost able to look at my profile without sighing! That is when I know I have to start again and lose the same old weight I did before!

Am now on a hunt for the Krispy thingys though Champs Helllllllllllllllllp!

Oh and forty lashes for the morning!

OP posts:
champs · 11/08/2004 14:43

glitter--- i was thinkin the same thing... if i had just kept up and been tougher, i would be well on my way to a me i can look at!! but no i have been slack and GREEDY!!!!
I have made a decision that as of next week i will cut alot of stuff from my intake, also i will stick to my points. Still haven't been able to get into ww online but will follow points none the less.

See The lashes have worked

bran · 11/08/2004 20:19

Just weighed in, and have lost 2 pounds. I had hoped for a bit more, but it's a start. I know I must do more exercise as well as counting points, but I've been a bit lax about it.

I'm trying hard to just think about next week only, but my brain is automatically dividing the total amount I need to lose by 2 pounds a week, and coming up with a LOT of weeks.

glitterfairy · 11/08/2004 20:42

I have more Bran and there is always someone worse off although strangely that never makes me feel better!

Oh Champs I cannot be the only lazy bloater am going to have to raise my game and get back on the treadmill. See your whip has worked on me.

OP posts:
bran · 11/08/2004 20:51

I'm much too over-competative about these things too, my friend goes to the same WW and she started a week before me, so this was her 2nd weigh-in, and she lost 3 last week and 4 this week. So I feel as though I have to try really hard to catch up.

It's great that she goes too, even though I'm not beating her, I means I'm less likely to miss a meeting, and she's always fun to meet up with. She has a gammy knee at the moment, but we have plans for some serious walking when she's better.

champs · 12/08/2004 02:23

hi you two!!
Bran-- 2lbs is good.... 5 more and you will have your 7 also glitter and I have decided to cut weight we have to loose into more Managable chunks... seems more obtainable that way. please dont be too downhearted as glitter said there are people with more... I for one need to be half my size!! Imagine two people could fit in my clothes!!!

glitter-- I think we can hang up our LB badges in shame we have let all lazy bloaters down by being far too concerned with being active
hows your ballet dancer?! has she been to any more grown up parties??

OH MY GOD am very very scared and will have to sneak off to maintain my blodd sugar levels. Gym every day not sure about that will probably faint!

Have hung up my badge Champs although may dust it off every now and then. My ballet dancer has a sore ankle and a swollen foot and is resting with it up at her holiday club at the moment. She is getting very teenagery and shouting alot and bursting into tears in a PMT type way yawn. Actually feel sorry for her and am waiting for her to start dressing only in black and going into mourning for her life. (she did want a black tutu)

Bran that sounds great it is always good to have a friend who understands and can do the dieting stuff with you (BEETS hope you are reading this now). Glad you are doing so well.

OP posts:
bran · 12/08/2004 10:42

Perhaps I should start going to the gym with my dh. Would you believe we have one in our building and I've only been there 3 times in the 3 1/2 years that we've lived here , and I've never used the swimming pool.

bran · 12/08/2004 10:43

Beetroot sounds pretty scary Glitter. Do you think she'll be checking your luggage on arrival for illicit chocolate and sweets?

champs · 12/08/2004 16:03

ROFL!!!!
Beety you are funny!!
glitter-- you are in for it my diet buddy, told you to be afraid actually i bet it will be great fun. the greedy bloater society heard of my expulsion from LB and have invited me to join as they are impressed with my HUUUUUUGE eating habbits. My only escape is to cut intake and so get taken of the mailing list
bran-- the gym will be good, i love swimming but dont go as have NOOO confidence that i wont be a laughing stock in my swiming costume. Having a gym/pool in building sounds good although I'd have to go in disguise LOL

JJ · 12/08/2004 16:33

Can I join tomorrow? We just home from holiday and I've managed to slather too many pounds over my already fat body. We're still a little short on food, so I have to have pizza tonight.

Does anyone use Volumetrics or the "Fat Girl Slim" book? I'd like to do ww, but it'd have to be online and use those recipes (no WW stuff here in Switzerland). Is there any chance anyone would be up for a recipe swap, complete with nutritional info and points?

bran · 12/08/2004 20:08

I don't actually like the ww products, so I haven't bought any JJ, but the points system is quite easy to translate into recipes. When I am a little more motivated I'm going to go through all my favourite recipes and work out the points value of all the ingredients and then divide by the number of servings to work out points per portion. At the moment I am doing each recipe as I make it, which does add to the cooking time.

I've just done the points for a recipe for yogurt and oatmeal blueberry muffins from Susan Reimer's book if your interested, it comes to 3.5 points for an ordinary sized muffin and 6.5 points for a jumbo muffin. And they taste a million times better than horrible ww muffins (not that I've tried them, but I'm sure I'm right).

champs · 12/08/2004 20:26

hi JJ!! I have some recipie's if you tell me what sort of thing you're after. also the WW thread had some too.

Bran-- you are right, the ww mufins taste and look like a cross between plastic and rubber

glitterfairy · 12/08/2004 23:02

Ok what is this I turn my back and you are all talking about muffins!

Champs lazy greedy who cares maybe we should just be the bloaters! lol

JJ welcome its always good to see those of us in the for the long haul.

bran sorry I mentioned chocolate on another thread but cant resist and that is really my problem although am eating carrot and humous now!

OP posts:
JJ · 13/08/2004 11:57

Thanks bran, but muffins might be a bit dangerous for me. I'd eat them toasted with butter and have every last one (sharing with boys, if necessary) by the end of the day.

The tip on doing the recipes by ingredients is great! The fat must have invaded my brain -- I couldn't work out how to figure out points for recipes without doing it online (a huge pain!).

For an marinade made with oil, how should I calculate the points?

I gained 10 pounds in the past 6 weeks!!!! argh. But the food was good and the beer was bad (but good, iykwim).

bran · 13/08/2004 13:45

Hmm, I'm not sure about marinades. You could measure the volume of oil (and other fluid ingredients) that you put in and then measure the volume left in the container after marinading and the difference would be the amount of oil that you're actually eating. It's a little hit and miss though, so you would probably have to add a couple of points to the estimate to allow for error. If you're actually going to be cooking in the marinade, so that the marinade forms the sauce for the dish then you would probably have to count all the oil towards your points.

Oil is very high in points though, so once you've worked it out you might find that it's not worth it because you'd have to eat zero point foods for the rest of the day.

glitterfairy · 13/08/2004 21:48

hello JJ how are you doing? I never count olive oil have to say.

OP posts:
bran · 13/08/2004 21:52

Glitterfairy! You're only fooling yourself you know, olive oil counts.

(give me a few weeks, the piety is bound to wear off eventually )

glitterfairy · 16/08/2004 11:59
