Alevere / Alizonne

For reasons unknown, the name of the Alizonne diet has changed to Alevere. I have only known it as Alevere and wanted to start a new thread so people can find it under the new name.

I am nearing the end of week 1 and have lost 8lbs so far. I don't count this much as I lose 7lbs in the first week of any diet. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks.

It's a lot of work to follow but I'm getting used to it. Would be happy to swap tips with anyone - particularly on recipes.

Also very happy as I won £500 today which covers a lot of the 1st month costs!!! :)

Thanks so much Azzy and Chrissy.

I tend not too eat much fruit to maintain a good weight loss each week and so power walking on the treadmill most nights for around 40 mins so may work for you :).

The dizziness comes and goes for me however just keep drinking a lot of water and If it persists, maybe a chat with your doctor might help!

RE: dizzyness - i get this some times if i get up after being crouched down (in the garden) spoke to the doc about it and thought it might be down to the amount i was losing. suggested to continue with salt tablets twice daily and to increase seasoning in food. Not noticed much difference yet.

Similar to Beck813 with my loss, last week was the 8th weigh in - which is 7 full weeks on the food pouches. 15kg lost so far on Alevere and 27KG since starting dieting 3 months ago.

With regard to exercising, other than walking i was advised against it, mainly because any exercise requires more energy than the 5 pouches per day, i was told if i intended to do any strenuous activities that a 6th pouch would likely be required 22KG remaining to target 1, i think i will enter phase 2 in around 15KG which is about 8 weeks off at the current progress.

Thanks Singy.

I also notice the dizziness when getting up from a crouched position. I was told to take an additional Quinton, but am still experiencing the dizziness every now and again. Will chat through with the doctor when I next see her.

On exercise - I was told it is fine to do it, but would need to take an additional sachet if vigorous exercise was undertaken. I am aiming just to do lots more walking at the start but hoping to build up to jogging. Would like to see a larger amount of weight being lost, especially as I have been strictly sticking to the diet.

I am coming up to the end of my third week since starting the diet (I have my week 3 weigh-in tomorrow). Am finally beginning to find my stride and the diet is no longer daunting as it was in the first week or so.

I am also feeling like I have a bit more energy now - long may this feeling continue!

Good luck with your next weigh-ins everyone! :)

Hi everyone

Nice to hear how everyone is getting on. Sounds very positive apart from a few hiccups. Well done!

Btw, I cook the pizza dough for 10 mins. Turn it over and then add the sauce and topping and back in for 10 mins.

I've had my 10th week weigh in - I've lost 17.2kg / 38 lbs so far. A couple of days later I'm just one pound away from having lost 3 stone!

I'm really happy with progress but slightly behind on weekly target (every week) so I expect to lose only 12lbs per month going forward.

Still unsure whether exercise makes a difference - I'm doing 30-45 mins of gentle exercise (exercise bike and aqua aerobics) 4-5 times a weeks. Don't think it boosts weight loss but don't think it reduces it either.

Only real downer for me is having to take Movicol most days to go the toilet. Anyone got any good tips here?

Also anyone know if vegetable stock is allowed? I haven't used it but am trying to devise some new recipes for veg.

Just doing a little victory lap - today I have lost 3 stones in total! In 10.5 weeks. Most I have ever lost on a diet. EVER.

Plus threw out (or listed on eBay) all my size 20s at the weekend. Comfortably in 18s now so have a whole wardrobe of clothes back.

It's a good day. Feel like I have gone back in time. Grin

Well done dm2ooo, great results so far Smile

4LB lost this week for me, the amount does not seem to change much up or down for me, i average about 4 - some weeks 3, some 5. What i eat rarely affects this and I occasionally cheat now as i have not noticed any ill effect.

When i say cheat, i mean substituting a pouch for a homemade chicken salad - 120-150 cal of chicken vs the pouch - obviously this has more fat/carbs than the pouch but doesnt seem to make any difference. The doc didnt seem too concerned with me doing this as long as i dont get into the habit of it, but it just makes the process easier (less dull) for me.

Just past 4 and 1/2 Stone this week which is 60% of the total i intend to lose. Seems to have passed fairly quickly so far.

Wow Singy - well done.

I'm very jealous of your average 4lbs - I have learnt to love my average 3.2!

You're right - it does seem to go fast. I am planning a 3-4 week break when I get to 3.8 stone (my halfway point). I have a few events, and work trips and holiday. I am going to low-carb and exercise to keep losing but won't be as much. Right now, I think I can't wait to get back to it. I'll be really skinny before Christmas!

Well done dm2000 and Singy - so impressive!

Not a great week 3 weigh-in for me - I lost 1.2kgs/2.6lbs. Was really hoping to lose a little more :(

Feeling a little low this week - I was hoping to have lost a stone by now but it looks like I may even struggle to lose a stone in 4 weeks (I reckon I will end up losing 12lbs this weekend (my week 4 weigh-in)).

I am using 100g of my 200g restricted fruit/veg allowance on fruit (usually strawberries after dinner in replacement of my old chocolate habit). Am considering cutting this out to see if this helps with a greater weight loss - but am struggling to do this as the strawberries have now become my nightly treat which I look forward to! Has anyone tried this and seen more favourable results??

dm2ooo · 05/06/2015 23:55

Hi Azzy - 2.6 is still a good loss - congratulations to you too. It took me a while to get used to my average of 3 lbs as I was hoping for more. But the 3lbs is consistent so over a month, I still feel good.

I would definitely advise eating as much salad and veg (instead of fruit) as possible - it helps with digestion etc. My clinic suggests cutting out the fruit if your weight loss is slow. You might want to try it for a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference. I have strawberries a couple of times a week as a treat but have hot choc drink every day to replace the chocolate habit. On a bad day I might have 3 hot chocs for my meals!

The most important thing though is sticking to all the rules, no cheating with food, eating meals on time, drinking lots of water, measuring oil. I find any straying slows weight loss.

Good luck and keep going!

Forgot to say why I dropped by:

Has anyone had a short break from the diet or tried to carry on with the diet while they were on holiday.

I have some events coming up and my holiday. I plan to stick to the diet when possible but otherwise just make sure it's low cal, low carb, and do lots of exercise. I realise I'll go in and out of ketosis a couple of times over a 4 week period.

Does anyone have any suggestions / experience here?

Hi All,

I am now on phase 2!!! Which is absolutely amazing and I now fit into size 10 jeans which is a great feeling!!!!

However I am struggling to loose my last stone of weight, does anyone have any tips? I don't eat much fruit so I'm not too sure what to do to speed it up?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

What was your resting metabolic rate test calorie count Beck?

I am not at phase 2 yet but I understand it's simply adding real protein instead of the evening pouch (120g chicken/beef/etc)

Are you following the correct weights?

Presumably the change in calorie count should only be around 100 cal more than 5 pouch per day.

Beck813 that is fantastic news what weight did you start at and what weight did you go into phase2

Hi!

Thanks so much I was 90KG I am now 73KG and my target is 67 so it's around a stone left :) - I went onto stage 2 at 74.

Singy- the clinic said my weight loss would slow down my metabolic rate was low it was 1700 and that was before I lost any weight so I'm defo loosing motivation....

Beck813 - well done on size 10 and phase 2. That's brilliant.

I just read a really interesting article on BMR (base metabolic rate). It had a formula for estimating it, if you haven't got equipment:

For men: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) + 5
For women: BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) – 161

Using the formula, mine was 1740 when I started Alevere (Clinic measured it as 1750) and would now be 1550. So a big different for 3+ stone weight loss. By my target weight, the formula drops my BMR to 1250. I never realised what a big difference it could make.

So yes, weight loss would slow a lot even if you were doing the same things.

I learnt something today! :)

Hi Dm2000

That calculation is actually SO helpful! It looks as though my metabolic rate has dropped significantly which would be why my weight loss has slowed up!

Thanks so much for that! How are you getting on?

Hi All

Well done Beck813 - that's incredible! So pleased for you.

I had my week 4 weigh-in over the weekend - much better result this week - 2KG loss and I hit the 1 stone target in my first 4 weeks (woo-hoo!)

It sounds as if we have the similar weight loss goals Beck813. My starting weight was 91KG and my goal weight is ideally 60KG.

How many weeks did it take for you to get to stage 2?

Beck813 you have done amazing. Did you stick with the diet. I started at 87kg and am now at 65kg target is 59kg. However I have cheated a few times with weekend parties etc which means I was behind target by a month..very expensive it has been. I started first week of February. How long has it taken you...

Have only loss 1 lb this week so feeling a bit grumpy - have done loads of exercise (which I think is the problem). I'm nearing the halfway point but I feel like I'm approaching it very slowly! Feel like I have one good week and then a couple of slow weeks. It evens out but it does make it feel like a slog.

Mystery - your results are fantastic. I'm almost at the point you started! Can't wait to be 5kg from target in 4 months' time. You have done great.

Well done to Azzy and Beck too. Nice to hear people doing well, even though I am grumpy this week. :)

dont despair a loss is a loss. My weight loss has always been 1 to 1.5kg. The only exercise i have done is walking the dog at a fast pace for 30 mins in the last 2 months. It can be disheartening especially when you have stuck to it and not see a big loss. The only thing i can say is when I have cheated and only lost .5lb I did loss 4 lb the following week.
Azzy you doing so well too.
My original target was 61kg but I moved it to 59kg..got a bit greedy but I have decided that I will see where I am by end of June and then go to stablisation regardless as can afford another month on this :-)

Hi All

Thanks so much for your messages - it really does spur me on!

It has taken me 9 weeks to get down to 73kg from 90KG which isn't too bad however it's definitely been a struggle financially!

You are all doing so well and as you said, any loss is a loss!
