Alevere / Alizonne

For reasons unknown, the name of the Alizonne diet has changed to Alevere. I have only known it as Alevere and wanted to start a new thread so people can find it under the new name.

I am nearing the end of week 1 and have lost 8lbs so far. I don't count this much as I lose 7lbs in the first week of any diet. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks.

It's a lot of work to follow but I'm getting used to it. Would be happy to swap tips with anyone - particularly on recipes.

Also very happy as I won £500 today which covers a lot of the 1st month costs!!! :)

Feeling sheepish today - scale jumped and my weight loss for the last 8 days is now 2.6 lbs. I really shouldn't let myself get so hung up on the scales every week - but I doooo! Never been so tempted to cheat last night - running late for a talk and then took my son for McDs afterwards. Nearly ordered something for myself but, the beauty of Alevere kicked in - just didn't seem worth it!

I need to stay focussed on the big picture and stop letting bad days / weeks affect my mood so much.

Welcome Mosser55 and essy28 - the diet does work if you stick to it and keep going. Next week will be my 3 month weigh in and I will have lost around 3.5 stone. This is the best result I have ever had on a diet. Given the cost, I feel like I can't encourage people to go on the diet - it's a personal choice if you want to spend that much. It does work but there are other ways to lose weight. For me, I feel it's worth it and I'm happy with the choice I made.

Mosser55 - I think the treatments work. Not sure how much they contribute to actual weight loss, but my skin is definitely tighter on my thighs and my stomach has really disappeared. I have been to 2 clinics and both said that for very large patients, there might still be some loose skin at the end, but for patients like me (losing 7 stone), there is usually no noticeably loose skin. I also find the weekly session a huge help in keeping on track - you are going to see someone, they are going to weigh you and do your treatments, you can't hide. It's much better than group sessions (where you can hide or have to listen to other people talking about their success or failure) - it's all about you.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I had my weigh in this morning, ive lost track of the week number possibly 11, although i am not sure.

4.2LB this week and down to 35LB/49LB to go to targets - need to decide soon if my target is 14 or 15st.

72LB lost since February about 2/3rds of that since starting Alevere.

@Mosser55, if you dont need to lose weight and just want the 2 treatments then they offer those without the diet, i think it is £120 for combined treatment or £70 each individually.

@dm2ooo the BMR calculation is interesting, using that calculation i am still 2263 with a starting rate of 2700 which is similar to what i was told at consultation.

i was at a Christening today and saw some friends i havent seen since starting, the reaction to my weight loss was great, nice to see how noticeable it is to other people.

Hi All

I had my week 5 weigh-in this weekend - only lost 0.8kg - my lowest loss since I started :(

Lost a lot of confidence this weekend - even had a good ol'cry on my bus journey home from the appointment. Not sure where I am going wrong, especially as I am sticking to the diet so religiously.

I feel like I am on an emotional rollercoaster with this diet. On some days I feel like I am seeing results and am very pleased with progress on other days I feel so depressed as I know I have such long way to go.

This week has not started on a positive note and am praying that next week's results will make up for the small amount I lost this week. Need something to get my confidence and motivation back...

Hi Azzy - I know exactly how you feel! But I have to remind myself - although sometimes the needle hardly moves for 3-4 days - my average loss per week (not including week 1) has consistently been 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg). The slower times are so tough (especially when you are being super good) but I try (try and try) to look at it overall. I keep it on a spreadsheet and keep reminding myself.

There is also no other diet I have ever been on where after 3 months, I am still losing at the same rate.

I also feel annoyed that I am not meeting the clinic target of 1.75kg. And I told them it makes me feel like a failure even when I lose 3 lbs. It also annoys me when they give you the same advice - for things you are already doing! Arggghhh!

But do keep going - you still lost 0.8kg and wait and see what happens next week. Don't give into the voice that tells you to give up. Something great is just around the corner. x

Thanks dm2000 - much appreciated.

It great to have a forum where I can share with others experiencing the same emotions.

I am trying to be hopeful for the next weigh-in - but my scales are not budging yet.

I feel like I have hit a wall (like with most diets where your weight loss stagnates and then you just give up because you don't see the point). I really hope I get some confidence back at next week's weigh-in.

Stop getting on the scales so often!

I think weighing in during the week is counter productive, even more so if you do it at irregular times.

Singy - you are totally right! I have a real problem with it. It's like gambling - when you have a win, you feel great for the day, but when you don't, you get all stressed. :)

Azzy - definitely look at your loss over time. My weight loss does even out. I am slowly learning not to beat myself up so much. Don't give up!

I'm new to mums net but came across this discussion when I googled 'Alvere'.
I am on day 5 of the diet so was looking to see if there were any support forums etc.
I did alizonne twice before but unfortunately am just 3kg off my start weight the first time around. I'm feeling very determined this time though and will keep it off this timer.
Everyone is doing really well which is very encouraging. I will continue reading the posts for inspiration.

Just swinging by to say that I had a really great day - went shopping from some clothes and fitted comfortably into size 16 (2 - 3 sizes below where I started). I was thrilled!

I also hit 3.5 stones lost - exactly 3 months after starting the plan.

These days make up for the hard ones!

Welcome (back) Jothebear56 - I hope it goes well for you. Let us know how you get on!

Had my weigh in yesterday, only lost 2.6LB this week, that said i am not too disappointed since I've been well under on the water consumption and not really stuck to the schedule for the sachets.

This was the end of week 12 and total to date since starting Alevere is 49LB and 74LB over all.

Not on alizonne but interested in how it works.

I think when you have a small weight loss and you know you've not cheated I think you just need to put it down to your body readjusting itself.

Our bodies are such wonderful things and half the time we dont treat them with the respect they deserve. I'm trying to lose a few pounds for my wedding in 3. Months. Currently a size 14-16 but can fit bigger or smaller ( I have 8-18s inmy wardrobe ) dependingon the dress.

I say to soon to be husband that I don't feel any leaner after a spell of good days on the other hand I would hate to have sickness and diarrhoea for three ads only to wake up and findmy boobs had disappeared !

I'm really tempted by Alevere - there's something about having the treatments too which makes it so much more compelling than the vlcd's that are meal replacement and group sessions only.

I'm trying to persuade my husband to let me spend money on this rather than (a lot less money on) something like LL or CD.

Do you ladies have any views?

And also, generally, on VLCDs - does anyone ever share their not-so-success stories? Is it too de-motivating for forums to share that? When wondering whether or not there are diet-related rose-tinted specs, I'm reminded of that saying: "no one is as happy as they seem on Facebook, as depressed as they seem on Twitter, or as employed as they seem on LinkedIN"?

Hi I have just joined Mumsnet to take part in this thread as it is so helpful.

I have been on Alizonne/Alevere since Feb 1 when I was 16 and a half stone and I am only 5ft 1.

5 months in and I have lost 4 and 3 quarter stone down to 11 stone 9. I am now buying size 14 clothes and was a size 22 at the beginning.

I absolutely love the diet and I love being thinner. I am aiming to get to 9 stone which just sounds bizarre but I really believe I can do it. I have done Weightwatchers and Slimming World in the past and lost weight but never anything like this and I put it all back on. With this diet I am determined to keep it off.

When I see people I haven't seen since I started this they do a double take and say I look fab which really helps spur me on.

The diet is not that bad. It is scary and hard to think of totally giving up bread, cheese, wine, chocolate etc but the constant weight loss and positive effects really spur you on.

Financially I am paying £240 a week which is a massive amount to me. However I hope that the financial commitment will really help me keep the weight loss off. One thing I hadn't factored in was the additional cost of new clothes which I am having to constantly buy. This is necessary so I look good at work but also because looking good in new slimmer clothes keeps spurring me on. It's amazing how cheaply you can buy clothes which are smaller sizes. I am saving on wine, going out, meat and a few other things which slightly helps offset the cost.

The diet itself works for me because

  1. I go every week for a one on one session so there is nowhere to hide and no point cheating;
  2. I can have sweet satchets - I love the chocolate dessert which I have daily as a chocolate mousse, unlimited stewed rhubarb sweetened with canderel which I have with the vanilla pudding satchet, caramel drink which I have as caramel mousse by limiting the water and hot chocolate to drink;
  3. I can add gherkins and beetroot to my salad every day and have melon and strawberries/raspberries every day;
  4. I don't have to exercise which I hate and wouldn't stick to;
  5. I don't have any rolls of flab because of the skin tightening treatment;
  6. my husband loves that I am losing weight and because there is nothing tempting for him in the house he has lost a stone and a half too; and
  7. mostly importantly it is so strict and rigid a diet that you absolutely have to break all your bad eating and drinking habits from the start and know that you will never go back to those bad ways.

    My biggest fear is coming off the diet. However there are 8 stages which they aim to help you adapt. Most of the diet is stage 1 but I will be finally starting stage 2 in a couple of weeks.

    Once target is reached you can go back as often as you like for a free 15 minute session where you get weighed and discuss how it's going. My plan is to go once a week initially as I adjust.

    I would love to hear stories of people who have gone through the next stages and how they are doing on the other side.

    I have had low points like others mention- one week I lost nothing at all in spite of sticking religiously to the diet- however I have learned that I have to keep perspective and remember the big picture.

    This diet is not for everyone but for me it's perfect and I feel the best I have felt in decades. (I am in my 40s).

    For anyone on the diet at the minute I would highly recommend making sure the clinician does the chin treatment each week as well as the others. I didn't find out about this until 3 months in but now I am having it every week and I really see the difference. There is no extra cost and it only takes a couple of extra minutes.

    Hope this helps others. Happy to answer any questions.

    Having just read this back I am worried I sound like a marketing person for the clinic but I assure you I am a genuine diet patient!

    Xxxx

I know exactly what you mean when you say 9 stone sounds bizarre! I can't get my head around how it will feel to be slim.

I can't imagine thinking of myself as anything other than a fat girl.

The idea of going shopping and not getting incredibly depressed about the lack of plus sizes - and not having to rely on mail order clothes any more. Buying clothes that actually look good on me (rather than the outfit that looks least bad).

I haven't started just yet - trying to figure out how some things will work. My four year old just loves baking with Mummy and undoubtedly struggle to understand why I've stopped doing that. We also have a big "family breakfast" every Saturday morning, a real ritual that my girls get incredibly excited about (kids and their routines, eh?). I know I can stick to my diet when I'm not around pain au chocolat - but can I be around forbidden food without cheating? Or am I going to deprive my family during the diet?

I'm also not sure how comfortable I am with people judging me on my "extreme" diet - work colleagues (who'll notice what I'm eating during the day and likely pressure me to come to afterwork drinks), the mummies groups (all of them are slim, so I don't think anyone will understand), my mother and mother-in-law (who'll both worry terribly).

Anyway - like woolfie100 says, it would be great to hear people who have met their target weight, and are working through the later phases, or have kept it off for the long-term.

Hi, I have just completed week 1 and have lost 9lbs! Your posts all helped me to go down the Alevere route, you are all doing so well. Wolfie100 your post is great and well done for your weight loss so far. The one thing I thought would be the hardest for me was cooking for the family but I have found that fine, took me a couple of days to get my head round taking all the supplements but it's fine now. Looking forward to the day I can say I've lost 3 stone or 5!! Good luck to everyone and there continuing journies.

Hi everyone. I thought I'd write about my alevere journey, I started in January at 109 kg and now I am 72kg. I am on stage 3. I will be phasing off soon when I get to my target weight of 69kg. It's been really hard but worth it. You have to stay focused. I have not cheated even once since I've started. i would really recommend the diet if you can afford it. It's really worth it. I enjoy the weekly treatments and feel they do work. Good luck to everyone whose started.

So I've a consultation with the clinic manager at the Watford clinic. She's a qualified nurse, but not a doctor.
So I'm not sure if this is my "first doctor's consultation" as part of the programme - of if it's just a preliminary thing.
Or if I'll have to pay for it - and if I do, am I paying the "doctor consultation" fee or something else.
This isn't feeling terribly transparent - what did everyone else have right at the very start?
