Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

HippyJess · 12/03/2015 12:23

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

You wear it on your wrist, or there is a version which clips to your clothes.

It tracks movement and converts the data, using pre-programmed information, to calculate steps, distance etc. You download an app to your phone or tablet to read the converted data. The Fitbit communicates with your phone using bluetooth. I'm on my tablet not my phone so can't show you an example but it is very user friendly. I bloody love mine. Am more than a little bit obsessed with it

Here is a pic of what the Fitbit app looks like, I Googled it

Heh! It is tempting to do that but I have been pretty good at controlling myself. Fuck knows how! Based on yesterday's weight I am about 2 weeks away from no longer being obese and about 12 weeks away from a healthy BMI. I am so bloody tired of being fat. That's what is keeping me away from the snacks.

I could murder a big bag of peanuts right now though. I would stick my entire face in the bag and hoover them up

No, not wrong to be pleased. I am almost envious!

LondonHuffyPuffy · 29/06/2015 23:22

Oh yeah, I meant to say your breakfast is the same as mine, but with a pint of coffee instead of the cereal bar Grin

I have to shift a lot more kg before I can give up smoking

Curses.

I have had grapefruit for breakfast some days - I really enjoy it and it is quite filling / very low in calories. I am on a mission now to lose half a stone before my holiday on 29 July. Been a bit hit and miss lately

Cottage cheese is utterly gopping. It doesn't have the right to be called cheese.

Hello, may I join in?
SW: 108kg
CW: 106kg
GW: 68kg
Height: 5'7

I am impressed how well all of you are doing.
After many failed attempts to lose weight (I have gained instead), I have now created the perfect diet for myself. I eat low cal (1000kcal) every other day, and normal cal (2000kcal) on other days. It averages at 1500kcal a day. I find it crucial not to feel deprived and learn to eat like normal people eat, otherwise I get obsessed with diets and lose interest, or feel too deprived and lose interest, or starve and then binge. This one is perfect for me and I already lost 2kg in just 3 days, feeling great and there is no stopping me this time.

I cannot think why no one has invented this diet before!!

meadowquark · 02/07/2015 13:18

P.S. Love cottage cheese by the way. Hence my nickname... :)

pippistrelle · 02/07/2015 14:04

Hello meadowquark, with your strange love of cottage cheese. (Actually, I don't mind it, with the addition of large amounts of salt and chilli.) Good to hear that you've found a regime that works for you, and you've got off to a great start!

I only lost one pound at my wow weigh in, 31.5 in total. My rate of weight loss seems to have slowed right down. I need to do something different but what ....

LondonHuffyPuffy · 02/07/2015 21:45

Hello meadowquark. I like quark, it's the texture of cottage cheese that I can't cope with

We're the same height with similar SWs (I was a bit bigger than you) and similar goals. I've been at this for 14.5 weeks now and have lost just over 21kg. It dropped off in the first few weeks but has slowed right down in recent weeks so I'm trying to focus on changes to my body rather than the scales, for now.

vicki - it's so hard when the bloody scales don't reflect your determination and hard work, isn't it? Sad but do you feel different? Can you focus on NSVs (non-scale victories)? And as wise pippi reminded me, a 1lb loss is still a loss. 31.5lb overall loss is a great achievement.

mumslife - I'm sorry to hear about the diabetes concern. I hope the tests are negative but if not, hopefully you'll be referred to a good dietician?

5secondstilltakeoff · 03/07/2015 00:11

Wow this place has become a lot busier since I was last here. More the merrier.

Vicki Im so jealous of your 1lb lost. For the past month or so I have lost 0. Im feeling so demoralised by it all. I got to 12.13 stones and have been fluctuating between 13.1-12.13. I think I need to start attending meetings. I have been avoiding them as the thought of turning up with my little ones gives me a headache but I think that will give me the kick I need.

5secondstilltakeoff · 03/07/2015 00:17

Can anyone explain why the weight loss slows down after a while. I have lost 25lbs but its become a real struggle lately. I get that you have to keep eating less and less but how much less.

Has anyone tried any of the fasting diets e.g. 5:2? Have they worked for you? What are the rules exactly?

The diabetes thing must be worrying, mumslife. Fingers crossed for you.

Vicki - be kind to yourself. I'm pretty sure if a friend told you they'd lost a pound - added on to their excellent cumulative loss so far - you'd be telling them 'that's great, well done!' Well, 'that's great, well done' applies to you too.

5seconds - take a look at a basal metabolic rate calculator. It will show you approximately how many calories your body requires just to function, even if you stayed in bed all day. Mine started at nearly 1,500, but is now around 1,200, so it's a significant drop. So, to lose weight at the same rate, I have to create an additional 300 calorie deficit every day, on top of the deficit I was already creating. It's a bugger.

Well done on your trouser achievement, Brains. And yes, screw Primark, their tiny shorts and their shoddy seams. (Also, their cheap prices that lead to ill-considered and unflattering purchases.)

2lbs off for me this week, and half an inch off waist and hips. So, basking in the warm glow of that, and of being called wise by Huffy! (But it may also be the tropical weather.)

pippistrelle · 03/07/2015 09:59

Oh, and another thing, as you get smaller a 1 or 2 lb loss might have just as big an impact as a bigger loss earlier in the process: it's a question of proportion. So, this week, for me, 2lbs = half an inch. I doubt whether that would have been the case three months ago.
