I don't know what to aim for. I know I'm not happy at the weight I am now. But I'm not sure if a bit of my unhappiness is a but of body dysmorphia as I know I'm not big. I just think every extra pound shows on such a short frame.

Thanks for your advice

How much do you weigh now?

I'm 5ft 2in, and I'm pretty happy at around 9 stone 3-7 - could happily lose more, but that's not a bad weight for me. (Sadly I'm a lot more than that at the moment)

StrikesMatches · 01/03/2015 20:05

I'm currently 66kg, aiming for 60 or probably 59, which would be 9st4. I'm taking a break from trying to lose weight though, I've been doing it for 18 months now and I'm just fed up of it. I'm a comfortable size 10 and I look ok, even getting those "don't lose any more weight" comments (my gp agrees with me about my target).

winsomewitch · 01/03/2015 20:05

I'm aiming for 8st 5lb but realistically i'm hoping to get to 9st!

I started out at 10 st 5lb and am now 9st 10 and still look dumpy so i'll keep going.

I hate being short!

trulymadlyme · 01/03/2015 20:05

hi, I'm 5'2" but small boned. I'm currently too heavy at 9st 6. I'd be happy at 8st 12. It seems such a small amount to make a difference but every pound shows when you are short. I carry the excess around my middle and it's so hard to shift.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/03/2015 20:06

I'm 5'2. I feel good at 9'4 ish, but am currently 9'8 and that's a bit much. I don't want to go much below 9'4 because I like having a bum, and my face looks gaunt if I drop much lower.

StrawberryMojito · 01/03/2015 20:06

I'm 5'3 and not naturally skinny. A happy weight for me is 8st 11 ish. This takes careful eating and plenty of exercise. A satisfactory weight is 9 stone ish. I look chubby at anything over 9 1/2 stone. You're right, every pound shows when your short.

Loyse · 01/03/2015 20:10

I'm a small framed 5 ft 2.
Was less than 8 stone pre children. Now way 11 stone. Would love to be 9.5 stone again
Over the last year I've low carbed and done SW with no success. :(

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/03/2015 20:13

I'm not sure it's useful to know this information about others, because although you're addressing people of the same height as you, we won't all have the same frame or body composition.

I am 5'2" (and a half!) and I weigh 9st 7lbs or thereabouts. According to the BMI charts, this is towards the upper end of a healthy weight for this height. But I have no need or desire to weigh less. I do about 6-7 hours vigorous exercise per week and have quite a lot of muscle and not very much fat. In fact, I weigh more now than I did before I increased my exercise.

What makes you think you have some degree of body dysmophia? I hope you're ok OP.

twobambinos · 01/03/2015 20:20

At the moment I'm between 124 and 128lbs. Most size 10 clothes fit but not all sometimes a size 12. I feel flabby despite doing a fair amount of exercise. About 5 hours a week and I don't

walking. I weigh less now than I did pre dc2 but I feel bigger.

I agree wadingthroughaoup its probably not helpful to ask or know but I appreciate everyone's responses.

I definitely thing a pound or two shows at this height.

Trulymadlyme I also carry the excess around my middle which my physio thinks is loose skin rather than fat but I'm not convinced.

winsomewitch · 01/03/2015 20:24

What exercise are you doing?

coffeeslave · 01/03/2015 20:25

70kg for me, which is high but is my happy weight. I'm about 74kg at the moment, but I work out loads (4-6x week) and I know I can trim off the excess 3-4kg with a couple of weeks of low carbing.

Iamblossom · 01/03/2015 20:26

I'm 5 3. Hover around 9 2 to 9 5, reasonably happy at that weight. Would love to be 9 bang on but it eludes me.

twobambinos · 01/03/2015 20:30

Mostly running long and intervals. A bit of exercise bike. Pilates. Aqua jog. I like exercise

trulymadlyme · 01/03/2015 20:39

my excess weight around my middle is definately fat and not loose skin - I too was less than 8st before children. At this weight of 9st 7 I wear size 14 clothes which I feel is too big for my height. At 8st 12 - 9st I wear a size 12 and feel good.

winsomewitch · 01/03/2015 20:47

I was also running and even though i lost the weight combined with dieting I still looked blobby so i started the Davina DVD after seeing a thread on here and joining.

The difference in 10 days to my flabby middle and back fat is incredible even though the weight loss slowed down!

It doesnt sound as though you need to lose weight, maybe doing specific toning will help.

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/03/2015 20:51

If the problem is flabbiness, then what about doing more weights work? Pump or GRIT? It sounds like you're doing a lot of cardio but what about weights?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/03/2015 20:51

I'm 5'2" at my heaviest I was 10 stone 10lb. I'm now 8 stone 6. I'm happy with my weight but can't seem to shift my tummy.

twobambinos · 01/03/2015 20:52

I have the shred and davina old one power of three maybe I should give these another go. I'll have to wait two weeks because I'm training for a half marathon and don't want the extra aches and pains these dvds have caused me in the past.

8st.

winsomewitch · 01/03/2015 20:55

Ive certainly ached doing the new Davina DVD but its perfect because its all in 7 min sections so you can be very specific about which area you are targeting.

Heres the link to the Davina thread if you want a look Smile

HoppityVoosh · 01/03/2015 20:59

I'm 5ft 2 and I wonder if I'm extremely small framed. Up until about a year ago I was 6 and a half stone. Now I'm nearer 7 and a half. I think I'm at a good weight but would rather be more toned. I'm certainly flabbier than I was when I was a stone lighter which sounds ridiculous given my weight.

twobambinos · 01/03/2015 21:01

Thanks everyone. Ya maybe a weights session wouldn't go astray. We do a small bit of weight work in Pilates but its not much.
I'll come back in a few weeks and let you all know if anything ive tried had worked. I'll take measurements too not just go by weight.

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/03/2015 21:03

I think the range of answers here demonstrates why weight is very often a red herring!

I seem to be way heavier than most here. But I'm a size 8-10.

Hoppity, It does sound as though you have a very small frame. I would look positively skeletal at that weight. I have a large rib cage and square shoulders. And am just generally quite solid!

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/03/2015 21:05

Good idea twobambinos. Weight lifting has made a huge difference to my physique. It's also good for your bones, iirc.
