I don't know what to aim for. I know I'm not happy at the weight I am now. But I'm not sure if a bit of my unhappiness is a but of body dysmorphia as I know I'm not big. I just think every extra pound shows on such a short frame.

Thanks for your advice

Im 5ft 2 and I'd like to be 8st 10, I'm a size 8-10 at that weight. Currently 2 months post partum and 9 13 I think so just over a stone to go...

StrikesMatches · 02/03/2015 16:47

Wading, I think I must be like you and have a bigger frame. Even though I'm a stone over the upper limit of my healthy bmi, I am a size 10 (8 in some vanity) and my face is starting to look a bit too thin for my liking. I started weight lifting recently (as part of strength and conditioning classes) so I'll be interested to see how that changes my shape as well as weight. I just wish I could get rid of the flabby bingo wings over my Popeye muscles!

Strikes, yes, it sounds like it. If weight comes up in conversation, people are often very surprised to find out how much I weigh because they assume I would weigh less.

Which is why I pay little attention to the number on the scales. In fact, we don't have scales at home so I only weigh myself occasionally at the gym- out of curiosity rather than anything else.

What matters to me far more is that I have bicep and shoulder muscles I can be proud of, and have even discovered some back muscle. And for the first time in my 37 years, I can see my abs. (Only just...and only first thing in the morning, but I'm getting there!)

Wadingthroughsoup · 02/03/2015 18:56

Talkin, that site is really interesting!

TalkinPeace · 02/03/2015 18:58

wadingthrough
I've been linking to it for years because it is SO important for people to realise that we each have a different happy weight

The other interesting - and sometimes shocking - test is this one

I'm also small framed. I prefer 42kg but am probably nearer 43kg now. I don't appear to be any bigger so perhaps I have gained muscle.

FoodieMum3 · 02/03/2015 19:58

I'm 5'3 and don't like being any more than 9 stone.

Any less than 8stone 10 and I look ill.

I can stay at 9 stone quite easily but to get under it takes about 3 days of being strict with diet, which I don't like doing.

2 years ago I was 12.5 stone (obese)

cathyandclaire · 03/03/2015 16:38

I'm 5'3 (big head/small frame) and happiest below 8 st 7. over 9st 3, or under 8 st 2 I look grim although have only been under 8 st 2 for a fleeting moment!

Currently hovering around 8st 7 so starting to be stricter on food/exercise again.

Mominatrix · 03/03/2015 16:45

Really surprised by the size equivalents to weights here! I am 5'2" and toned and am just under 7 stone. I am a 4-6 in size, but definitely do not look skinny at all.

Notrevealingmyidentity · 03/03/2015 16:49

I'm a 4 mom but I would say I do look slim but not skeletal.

FoodieMum3 · 03/03/2015 17:02

How can you be a 4-6 and not look skinny?
Maybe body sizes do vary hugely and not necessarily correspond with weight.

Out of interest, if you're 9 stone, what weight are you all? I'm a 10 but have seen on MN that some are an 8 and others are a 12, even though we are the same weight and height..

Notrevealingmyidentity · 03/03/2015 17:09

Well I'd say because I still have boobs and a bum. In fact I have to wear a size 6 in jeans as I can't wedge my arse into a 4.

dreamydross · 03/03/2015 18:12

I'm 5'2 and currently 45 kg. I have a tiny frame though - children's watches are loose on my wrists. 45/46 is the weight I naturally fall at these days. Pre dc it was 42/43. Above 48 I look chubby Hmm

twobambinos · 03/03/2015 18:14

Foodie mum I'm going to say I'm around a 10 as most tens fit but some do not. I have a few size 8s in my wardrobe and they are def vanity sizing so I do not say I'm and 8 ?? I have a few friends that absolutely sqeeze into their clothes and call themselves a 12 and there's just no way that one persons size 12 is the same as any other persons size 12.
I was at a party recently and two girls I was getting ready with couldn't believe it when I said that the skirt I had on was a 12 until I showed them the tag. We were all saying we were the same size but it was very obvious we weren't.

I don't diet and don't exercise BTW, apart from a few squats or pull ups every now and then. I do walk a lot though-a couple of miles 4/5 times a week if not daily

Mominatrix · 04/03/2015 05:58

Foodie, I definitely do not look skinny. Travel to the Orient (which is my ethnic background), and I am considered "normal", if not a bit curvy (I have a bum and C cup boobs) and not particularly thin.

thobblywighs · 05/03/2015 22:36

I'm aiming for 9 stone and will go from there. I've got quite a way to go though.
